Cordial Showdown in Texas

Posted Feb. 21, 2008 – The two Democratic presidential candidates have made it through the first half of the debate tonight with polite banter and stately respect.  Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) appears confident and comfortable, and has offered a few light moments of humor.

The two candidates appear to be agreeing on most policy issues, so folks will have to decide who says it best.

The first “boos” of the night came for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) when she once again accused Obama of plagiarism during a recent speech in Wisconsin.  Obama called this attack the “silly season in politics.”

Alvin. What kind of mess are you speaking. You think just cause there is a black president that it will be hard to claim charges of discrimination? I don’t think that having a black president would make a difference. That will go on regaurdless.

Jesse Said on

.. Her and Obama would not be in this race at all if their race and gender was a factor! It’d be just another white male.

Jamal Said on

the race started out to be not about race and gender but now it is. if it wasn’t black people would vote more fairly. they wouldn’t be 100% for obama because he is black. the clintons did so much for the black population and it is shameful and disgraceful that they have all turned their backs against them… that shows how much the race has become about race…

CURIOUS1 Said on

JAMAL) WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE
FOR WHAT EVER REASON ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA
ALTHOUGH I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD. SINCE WE ALL
VOTED FOR THE CLINTONS? THIS ELECTION IS NOT ABOUT
RACE IT IS ABOUT COLOR. AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE
THIS IS WHAT IT BOILS DOWN TO. THERE ARE ISSUES
ON BOTH SIDES THAT NO ONE WANTS TO ADMIT TO ,SO IT
BECOMES THIS GAME THAT WE ALL PLAY A PART IN.THE
QUESTION IS WHAT PART YOU WANT TO PLAY?

CURIOUS1 Said on

MICHELLE) I WON’T EVEN BOTHER…YOU ARE TOO
FAR GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where were the Clintons during the Rwanda genocide??? And you think Hilliary is the best candidate for presidency….

kia Said on

Not sure why Hilliary supporters believe that Obama supporters are brainwashed, you have cleary been mislead all of your lives into believing that the Clintons are black peoples savior. The fact of the matter is the economy was booming and jobs were plentiful becasue Democrats were in the white house. So if you must express your negativity, please direct it towards the Republicans, because if John McCain wins, we are all in trouble, espcially minorities. Clinton and Obama have the same views, either is a great cadidate, they are both accomplished individuals, however I prefer not to go through another era where one family is dominating the white house, we need to go into a different direction. I urge the Obama haters to again read more and listen less, you just may learn something new.

WHY is it that if you support hillary on here, you are brainwashed, or just listen to the media, or whatever? i think HILLARY is the best candidate! why do i have to be delusional or silly?

LILBABY26, i said that i am the only rational one on here. not really. i know i’m not. but it’s these kinds of comments that make me think most people (many obama supporters ironically) are using silly arguments.

i am rational because i can make a point without bashing someone who thinks differently than me. i can say that obama had good points and hillary shouldn’t have used a cheesy line. i can say all that while still supporting hillary.

hey, anyone else who posts on here, use a rational argument, just the facts, and explain why you think your candidate is best for the position WITHOUT being silly and calling names, etc…

additionally, i would question the obama supporters who find ZERO fault with him and agree with everything he does.

Jamal Said on

kris… you hit the right on target!!! we need more hillary supporters like you!!!

shantei Said on

if you love your country vote for hillary

jj2008 Said on

obama will never be president

Jesse Said on

OBAMA 2008!!

tony Said on

the fact that we have Black Entertainment Television shows that blacks are racist… do you see any White Entertainment Television?????? and u just voting for obama cause he’s black….

christy341 Said on

Obama is less than perfect and that is why I will vote for him. He has already shown the American people that if he makes a mistake he can apologize and do better. Hillary Clinton made a mistake authorizing the Iraq war and yet she never admits it was a mistake. Instead she sidesteps questions and never directly answers. This shows her stubborn nature and inability to admit she was wrong.

I think we need a president who is savy enough to run this country but not jaded so that he/she can’t look forward to new ideas and new policies and practices that will reform our country. It’s proven that the SAME OLD SAME OLD does not work. Obviously by Hillary Clinton’s campaign she is just the SAME OLD POLITICAN that we are all sick of.

Do we all know about Bill Clintons 100 million dollar deal with Kazikstan? Do we all know that there is currently a court case pending against hillary regarding illegal campaign practices during her Senatorial candidacy? Do we know her campaign has mismanaged money and is deeply in debt?

If she can’t run a peaceful campaign and her life is in disaray how can she focus on the needs of this country? It’s not possible for her to really dig deep and solve problems when she can’t solve her own personal problems.

Jesse Said on

tony, you’re making very little sense! BET is owned by a white corporation! There’s nothing wrong with having a network that focuses on a certain racial demograph! If that were the case they should take Univision, Telemundo, and CMT off the air!

tony Said on

obama supporters sound like they all reading from a script.. no real personal opinions

lilbaby26 Said on

ok jamal, and whoever that mentioned race and gender, this isn’t about that. black people are not voting for him because he is black. if we were to vote for every black candidate based solely on their race then people like michael steele, alan keyes and even colin powell would have our blessings. al sharpton would have called himself the real 1st black president. and geraldine ferraro would have been our first vp. i think that it’s insulting that identity politics is so played out like this-that’s why i want a candidate who is not running for everybody and not just the black candidate.

FOR ALL YOU SMART PEOPLE OUT THERE. THE BILDERBURG GROUP HAS ALREADY CHOSEN WHO WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT. READ THE BOOK ABOUT THE BILDERBURG GROUP, THEN POST YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
