Cordial Showdown in Texas

Posted Feb. 21, 2008 – The two Democratic presidential candidates have made it through the first half of the debate tonight with polite banter and stately respect.  Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) appears confident and comfortable, and has offered a few light moments of humor.

The two candidates appear to be agreeing on most policy issues, so folks will have to decide who says it best.

The first “boos” of the night came for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) when she once again accused Obama of plagiarism during a recent speech in Wisconsin.  Obama called this attack the “silly season in politics.”

I want to make a Statement in regards to Mr Smiley. Senator Obama is running for the President of The United States, not Tavis Smiley Black Forum. Senator Obama has KEY stops here in Texas today, with Michelle meeting Monday evening with the Princinct Captains. The visits are vital in a very heated and contested race in Texas and Ohio.

With all due respect, Tavis has to get a grip on himself, as well as his entire elitus group. I’ve had great respect for Tavis, yet those who support Mr. Obama, or those of us who are working directly within his campaign will NOT allow him to sabotage this Election for all Americans, for the sake of Mr. Smiley own personal agenda. This race is bigger than Barack or Tavis, we are truley in an election for the course and direction of America for the next fours, possible eight. It Tavis or his constituents can not, or will not understand, then I believe it is them that have to reexamine if they are being most beneficial to change in black America with their theories or critiques. Senator Obama is trying to provide Change by actions.

It is my opinion that Obama is right on target but must be careful of the back whitewash. Texas is a state that make or break good presidents.

I ask that the Lord watch over Hillary and protect her and send her straight through to the White House as President. I ask that the Lord open the eyes of our countrymen so that each and every voting person casts their votes in favor of Hillary in the White House.

I ask that the Lord show the world that Obama is an OBVIOUS reminder to Osama, an evil wrong doing never to be forgotten. I ask that the Lord rebuke Obama from the Presidential race and that Obama drops out of the race and our minds forever.

Don’t tread on me.

mary bryant, if you are a christian, you are a big hypocrite and people like you are one of the reasons why i don’t go to church. GOD is neither against hillary or barack.

KRIS) YOU HAVE GOT SOME NERVE..

CURIOUS1 Said on

AND I ALSO BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE SIMPLY HERE
TO SEE WHAT INFO YOU CAN GET FOR YOUR CANDIDATE.
GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

kris Said on

CURIOUS1,
what does that even mean? what are you responding to? see, my last post was a logical, rational argument, and then you get all crazy and start accusing me of $hit.

“game over!” if you want to be childish, go ahead, i won’t stoop to your level. after this: you’re dumb.

i’m on here because i want people to THINK about decisions they are making, and not blindly select a candidate because he’s BLACK. why are so many people on bet.com supporting b.o.?????????? or because he speaks well when he has a speech in front of him. (if you watched the debate, you would have noticed a marked difference). i also want to talk about issues, and about why i think my candidate is better than b.o.

lilbaby26 Said on

speak for youself kris, i’m voting for obama, if anything is simply that he is not apart of that old washington club that doesn’t get things done and can go against conventional wisdom. kinda like what john mccain is to the republican party. both of these men can reach out to the other aisle unlike hillary can. that’s at least one of my reasons.

as i have said, this forum should be a way to express ideas without being ignorant. i would like anyone to challenge my views(and back them up) with being childish.

CURIOUS1 Said on

kris) you have been told by numerous people
here the we are not! and i repeat not! voting
for obama because of his skin color, but you refuse to acknowledge this fact! you keep saying
the same thing over and over again just like your
candidate. which only serves as prove that you
guys have been victims of some form of
brainwashing. none of your post have been rational

CURIOUS1 Said on

you throw rocks and hide your hands. you are
not as clever as you pretend to be dear icthru.u

CURIOUS1 Said on

all black people voted for the clintons! but
if all black people vote for obama people like
you have a problem with that? and you want to think that it’s because he’s black! you call that
rational?????????? you support hillary because
she’s white? is that logical????? like i said
GAME OVER!!!little kris find some other blog to play on!!!!! you called me stupid? why…as if
i care….you’ve got me mixed up with someone who
you think cares about what you think …ONE LOVE!

kris Said on

you apparently DO care, curious1, because you keep responding.

all black people didn’t vote for the clintons. many did. but it was because they thought he was the best candidate, i’m hoping. but this, just seems to be a case for many black people of voting for him because he appears to be black (he’s biracial).

someone on another post put “we need a black president in the white house”. that’s what i’m responding to. that’s what many of the comments posted here discuss about b.o. explain why you support b.o. WITHOUT discussing why you don’t support HILLARY. no one can seem to do that. he apparently won’t seem as christ-like when not compared to someone who might be easier to demonize.

i’m saying think. and i WILL NOT find some other blog to “play on.” as long as bet.com is a forum for free and open expression of ideas, i will use it to combat group-think, bandwagoning, falsities about my candidate, and anything else that I deem appropriate to throw my two-cents in on.

I dont understand why Im not given enough credit as a black woman to discern the issues and vote for the candidate who I think is best for the job? I guess being black makes me racist if I support a black candidate, but why is it okay for me to support a woman candidate without any backlash?

arica Said on

And to Kris-

I agree that this is an open forum and you are entitled to your opinions just like all the rest of us on here. By all means I encourage you to express yourself because thats what we need, people who can think for themselves and not fall into everyone else’s idea of what they should be thinking!!! But I still have to disagree with you when you say we’re all supporting B. O. cause he’s black. Maybe you should understand that just like you support HRC for your own reasons, Im supporting Barack for mine, and why is your support for your candidate considered more valid?

CURIOUS1 Said on

I GUESS YOU WON’T BE GOING ANYWHERE AS LONG AS
YOU GET ATTENTION. NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE IT DOES’NT
MATTER TO YOU DOES IT? YOU JUST LIKE ATTENTION?
YOU GO AT THIS LIKE IT’S YOUR JOB! ARE YOU GETTING
PAID FOR THIS? ……I’M DONE. I HAVE A REAL JOB
AND A FAMILY TO TAKE CARE OF…NO MORE TIME FOR THE LIKES OF YOU, YOU KNOW BETTER THAN I WHO YOU
ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE! SO SEE YA, WOULD’NT WANT TO BE YOU!………………………..ONE LOVE!

CURIOUS1 Said on

ARICA) KRIS IS HERE FOR ONE REASON AND ONE REASON
ONLY! TO (SPY) IF YOU WILL IN HOPES OF HELPING
HIS FAILING CANDIDATE WITH SOME BLACK MESSAGE THAT HE CAN TAKE BACK TO HRC CAMP, AND TURN THIS THING AROUND FOR HER. HE WOULD HAVE US THINK THAT
WHAT HE THINKS IS ALL THAT COUNTS? HE WANTS US TO
THINK??????????????? DID ANYONE ASK KRIS TO HELP
THEM TO THINK?????????? DOES ANYONE HERE NEED
KRIS TO HELP THEM THINK??????????? OTHER THAN
ANOTHER HILLARY SUPPORTER????I DID’NT THINK SO!

Hillary should concentrate on the issues instead of wasting time trying to degrade Obama. This only makes her look bad, and seem to not know the issues or politics very well. Hillary did well until she started complaining about some petty plagerization that she claimed Obama did. After that, her part of the debate was kind of messed up.

HILLARY IS PLAYING THE NICE/NASTY GAME:
NICE TO APPEAL TO THE OLD WHITE RACIST WOMEN WHO
REALLY DON’T WANT TO SEE A BLACK MAN BECOME
PRESIDENT OF THESE UNITED SNAKES OF AMERICA

NASTY: TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK THAT OBAMA IS’NT
CAPABLE . AND TO REDIRECT THE ATTENTION OFF
HERSELF. SHE’S TRYING TO TURN THE TALBES ON
HIM NOW, SAYING THAT HE’S THE ONE NOT PLAYING FAIR
WHEN ALL ALONG THAT’S BEEN HER GAME. SHE’S TRIED
TO MANIPULATE THE LANTIOS AND THE AFRICAN AMERICANS WITH THE SAME STONE, PLAYING ONE AGAINST THE OTHER…..SHAME ON YOU HILLARY AND
YOUR SUPPORTERS LIKE (KRIS)
