Posted March 3, 2008 – In less than 24 hours folks in four states will head to the polls and most likely determine who will be the Democratic nominee.
While dueling television campaign ads heated up the airwaves this weekend in Texas and Ohio, some Democratic leaders have started to suggest to Sen. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) that she should prepare a “bow out” strategy if she doesn’t land decisive wins Tuesday.
Gov. Bill Richardson (D- N.M.) is just one of several senior party officials wanting her to withdraw from the race is she can’t win big on Tuesday. “I just think D-Day is Tuesday,” he said. Richardson ended his campaign several months ago, but hasn’t endorsed either Clinton or Obama.
But Democratic Senators John Kerry (Mass.) and Dick Durbin (Ill.), both Obama supporters agree with Richardson. They’ve suggested Clinton pull out if Tuesday’s race leaves her trailing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in pledged delegates.
In a recent polls of Texas voters by McClatchy Newspapers, MSNBC and the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, Obama was leading with 46 percent of the support of likely voters to Clinton 45 percent.
The race is just as close in Ohio. A survey by The Cleveland Plain Dealer conducted by the Mason-Dixon Polling and Research, Inc., finds Clinton leading with 47 percent to Obama’s 43 percent in the Buckeye state. With the margin of error for both of these poll’s four to five percent, the races are too close to call.
Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) is heading to Ohio to campaign for Obama. “Ohio has emerged again as the epicenter of a presidential campaign because of its importance to a Democratic victory in November and because of the notorious difficultly of [Democrats] carrying the state,” she said.
Hip hop mogul Russell Simmons, a New Yorker, is heading to Cleveland to campaign for Obama as well. Over the weekend Simmons announced he was endorsing the Illinois senator. In a statement, Simmons said, “Obama has built an unprecedented national movement of people from all ethnic, racial, political, social and economic backgrounds.”
Former President Bill Clinton told folks at a rally in Houston Sunday, “If somebody is here and they are undecided or you are trying to reach somebody who is undecided, here’s my best advice; Ask them to decide how they will judge the next president when the president’s term is over, not how you feel today at a rally,” he challenged.
Clinton supporters are confident she will pull out the wins needed to stay in the race.

Well… this shows America is no longer racist! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! USA is no longer racist!!! The long national nightmare is now over!!!
Ohioman,..you’re just not even worth the effort.
i agree with the idea that if HILLARY cannot catch up in pledged delegates, she should consider bowing out. however, i think a picture that’s been painted by the media is that HILLARY is far behind in support.
she has not only raised $35 million dollars in february, but she has MILLIONS of supporters, and many pledged and super delegates. what does all this mean? it means that about half of the voting democratic electorate supports her. THAT’S HUGE.
but what does that mean? it means that if b.o. became the candidate, he would have A LOT of work to do in healing relations between he and many HILLARY supporters. i know that many, including myself, have said they will not vote for b.o. that’s it. just because he’s the nominee doesn’t suddenly mean that i think he’s prepared for office. i used to be all about party over politics, but, that’s changed for me.
HILLARY 2008

WAKE-UP AMERICA!
ESPECIALLY, BLACK AMERICA!
ESPECIALLY, HISPANIC AMERICA!
I would like to commend Mrs.Clinton(if she wants to become my first lady, I would marry her)for even entering the Presidential race. Mrs. Clinton has been a formiable foe/or competitor for Mr.Obama and all of the Republican Candidates for President. I think that Mrs. Clinton should continue her campaign until she is satisfied that the people are content with Mr.Obama being the Democratic nominee/Candidate for Preident.
Black and Hispanic America, should now focuse on preparing itself to partner with the next president, by joining organizations such as, the Freemoney Family Organization!

let the best man or woman win, it really doesn’t matter, as long as it is a democrat. but for all the non-believers and racist people, u know what you can do. as for obama and his clothing, there is no difference when other people has went to other countries and dressed in their clothing due to respect for it’s culture, take your data, i believe the clintons’ has done it before. thank you very much
BET, Why did you allow John U to post such a lengthy blog?
Most of the negatives brought out on BO have come from the Obama camp in the hopes of people thinking the Clintons are behind it.
Some are fooled by these tactics but some still have the common sense to figure it out.
BOs plan is to fend off the LOuis F and Rezko and all other questionable dealings until the nomination is secured
So far he has done well in dodging the media and any questions that need to be asked
Should he be the nominee the democratic party will eventually have to deal with what they have created
When they go crying to the Clintons who could blame the Clintons if they told them to shove it
Without Hillary there for BO to play off BO will crash in his attempt to battle McCain
Reality wont be pretty for BO nor will it be for his supporters
no betty, most of the negatives came out from the clinton camp and others in the democraic party. which is why after this race, i will not vote for another democrat in office. kris, it works both ways. but i can tell you right now that there are more of us that do not want to see hillary win.
Its funny you mentioned Russell campaigning in Cleveland. One of our guys over on Highbrid Nation did a post on Russell Simmons backing Barack Obama. Lol, he didn’t have very kind things to say about it. I’d have to agree with him too. Russell is one of the founding fathers of hip hop but he’s not really relevant to the crowd he tries to speak on behalf of.
If Hillary wins, she can’t say it was because she took the high road…because she didn’t. Voters are not going to be happy.
i would like to see both in office. as a black woman it would make history both ways. o believe either on eof them in office would do justice. after this president we have now anything but a republican will be good. my 8 year old could run this country after bush has messed it up sp bad. the only fear i have for obama if he gets in office. everything will be his fault as he tries to clean up bush’s mess. it will take the next 4 years to get back on track and the next 4 to keep it on track. he has great plans as well as clinton. both are well rounded people. i don’t think obama has played the race card i believe he was handed that when he decided to run. mccain has done nothing but talk about him making history just because of his race. change is the best thing that could happen to this country. hell bush has made so many enemies we need a fresh view on things.
