SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Posted March 5, 2008) – Sen. Hillary Clinton bested her top rival Sen. Barack Obama with wins in three of the four state contests. The New York senator won in Rhode Island, Ohio and Texas. Obama’s only primary win was in Vermont.
How did she do it? Clinton was able to secure the White, Latino and senior citizen vote in Texas; in Ohio she won the working class folks concerned about jobs and the economy. Clinton needed a strong showing to stay viable; winning these two large states does just that.
Obama did well among African- American voters, young folks and the well educated. But he didn’t win over enough Latino voters in Texas or older voters in Ohio. Clinton bested him by getting more late deciders in both states.
Clinton told her supporters in Columbus, Ohio, “For everyone here in Ohio and across America who’s been ever been counted out but refused to be knocked out, for everyone who has stumbled but stood right back up, and for everyone who works hard and never gives up — this one is for you. You know what they say,” she said. “As Ohio goes, so goes the nation. Well, this nation’s coming back and so is this campaign.”
Obama congratulated Clinton on her victories, but played down her wins, saying they didn’t net her more delegates, and remains ahead in the race for pledged delegates. Obama decided to direct his remarks toward the future Republican challenger, Arizona Sen. John McCain. McCain secured enough delegates Tuesday to win the Republican nomination.
“Because John McCain may claim long history of straight talk and independent-thinking, and I respect that. But in this campaign, he’s fallen in line behind the very same policies that have ill-served America. He has seen where George Bush has taken our country, and he promises to keep us on the very same course,” Obama said.
Cherri McCormick, an African American from San Antonio, is a tax collector for the city and is still optimistic Obama can win the nomination. “It’s a pretty close race, but he’s got fresh ideas, he’s smart and intelligent,” she said.
Now the Obama campaign will have to re-tool and decide how t0 rebound from Tuesday night’s set backs. The Clinton camp turned up the heat on the freshman senator and it worked. That barrage of attacks may have been enough to influence those voters deciding in the last 48 hours.
African-American lawmaker, Rep. Al Green, (D-Tex) told me, “It’s not over yet, he [Obama] knew it would be close; but at the end of the day he’ll have the same delegate lead.” Green’s district near Houston delivered for Obama.
The Clinton camp feels the momentum turning their way. While Obama leads the delegate count with an estimated 1,451 delegates and Clinton has an estimated 1365, the nominees will need 2024 to secure the nomination.
One things for sure, the second “Super Tuesday” didn’t deliver an inevitable Democratic nominee.

I’m disappointed in the strategy of Hillary. Why does it take searching for dirt on Obama in order to earn votes? Deal with the issues of this country.
I commend Barak on how far he has come and would still like to see him as vice president under Hillary. Imagine the impact we can have on America with both a woman and an African American running our country.
I also feel like Michigan and Florida votes should be counted not just because Hillary won but because both African Americans and women had to fight very hard for the right to vote and I don’t feel any political party has the right to take that away from anyone regardless of when they voted when you wanted them to or not!
I applause Mrs. Clinton for show the world that women do count in the political arena, but my question has always been, since she began her campaign. If she wins, who will rally be running the country? Mrs. Clinton or former President Bill Clinton?
For me it’s scary. It reminds me of a move the Bush family would pull. Besides, Mrs. Clinton is running on the democrat card, but another thing scares me. Didn’t former Presidents Bush & Clinton make a commercial together? I know it was for another causes, but it still makes me leery when enemies come together. She speaks about change, but will she really be able to change things, or will this be another read my lips President.
I say, if America really wants change, we have to go all the way with a complete change. Mr. Obama, go all the way with God as your guide. With man things are impossible, but with God all things are possible.
i have sent 2 comments supporting Hillary CLinton to this site and have yet to see either one…Are we being objective or are you screening only messages supporting Obama
OBAMA has got to kick it up a notch and get PA up and in his corner and I am confident that he and his team can do it! It was so very disappointing to see the results as they came in last night,as my thoughts are .. dag we can’t even support each other? what is wrong with us? but moving forward if we can all call those we know in the remaining states and ask them to call a few folks they know then we can help get the vote out for OBAMA. He is the BEST candidate and the ONLY candidate who WILL bring abOut the change we really need. CHANGE THAT WILL AFFECT OUR FUTURE. Hilary is NOT OUR candidate! GET OUT AND SHOWE BARACK YOUR SUPPORT!! TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!!
I think that the person that can do a better job for our country should win if he black or BI-RACIAL which Obama is or white or a female people need to listen to the issues and not look at race or gender..I live in Ga. and know most people are voting for Obama cause he is black or they think he is open your eyes people he is bi-racial and would make a great president and so would Hillary but all we hear is black man black man well my child is bi-racial and i don’t hear black boy but my point is listen open your eyes stop being shallow and ignorant vote for who can run this country the best no matter what race or gender they are..
I am supporting Obama until the end because i know he can do it.

I live in Pittsburgh and at this time doubt that Sen.Obama will win.Remember what Gov. Ed. Rendell said, there is alot of truth too his statement about his win over Lynn Swann. Also remember what James Carville said,”In Pennsylvannia there is Phlly in the east and Pittsburgh in the west and Alabama in the middle.I think Hillary will have too make a a major political blunder or two in order for Obama too win.
You guys are right. It is noe over yet and Hillary WILL win.I know as black people we should support each other, but Hillary is the better candidate
I agree the Obama has to get tough on Hilary. But it important to note that he is still ahead in the delegate count and according to all predictions, there is no way the she can catch up.
He is still the front-runner.
We can still do this.
Go Obama 08
1. Obama is the only choice for change.
2. Last night he stood tall with his wife by his side and that shows unity to me. Where was Bill? Not with Hillary she only had her Daughter with her see even her family is divided.
3. Look at all the scandals from the Clintons and during the debate Hillary’s responce was she has been through alot of controversy.Because the Clintons are just no good. However they can be covered in poo and people seem to dismiss it.
4. The Cafferty file on cnn was brave enough to talk about Hillary renting out part of the whitehouse, whitewater scandal, all of Bill affairs, to the file coming up missing in the whitehouse during there stay in the whitehouse just to name a few.
5. People need a role model to uplift this country by the way they conduct themselves.remember the whole world is watching and look how Bush and clintons have made America look around the world.

Bill was in Kazakstan shoring up the money promised to him for endorsing that government.
I believe Obama & Hillary are well qualified for the job. The question is whether white America is ready to give that much power to a black man or a woman. I hope black Americans wake up & become more supportive for Obama. Here’s your opportunity to come together as a race & support one of yours. Obama not only has the credentials for the job, but his is also a history in the making that is long overdue for black Americans. Blacks can become mayors, councilman, senators, congressman, and judges. Why not a President? Believe me there will be plenty of people coming out to vote based on race. I am one of them & I have spoken to quite of few others who will be doing the same. Why should black americans be any different. Think of the positive effect Obama can do for the black race, especially the youth. Think of the hope that can be instilled into the black youth. Come on black America, SUPPORT. You may not get another chance.
P.S. I would love to see a young savy computer person research the Clintons and did up all the dirt and plaster it all over the web and in the upcoming elections to the voters can make a choice on the person who they want to represent them and the country.
Peace and God Bless
Well I think Obama is still doing great and I will support him always. I’m sure alot of people can’t believe he has made it this far!! This is history in the making and I’m glad to be a part of it. Go Obama 08!!
I HOPE SHE WINS SHE HAS MY VOTE! WE NEED A CHANGE IN THE USA! SHES THE BEST AND SHE LIKE HER HUSBAND STRONG! AND WE MISS YOU MR CLINTON! BEST WISHES AND MAY GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU!
I think you can tell by now that I was not happy with the way things went last night. In part to the red phone Hillary is not the one to answer the operators will and the staff sits with the president to make a major decision concerning the country. The add was a way to scare the hell put of the voters and is worked for her. Sorry but this is how stupid some people are, my former boss at lunch one day said he just learned something. SO we were listening to him tell us that he did’nt know that when a black person is cut open that they are the same on the inside as everyone else. My mouth dropped! He was a 67 year old male. I realized that it was scary to have him as a boss let alone someone that stupid running the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WAS HAPPY WHEN MRS.CLINTON DECIDED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT BECAUSE I KNOW SHES A STRONG AND CARING WOMAN.JUST LIKE MR. CLINTON I LOVE YOU MR.CLINTON I WISH THAT YOU DIDNT HAVE TO REPLACE PRESIDENTS CAUSE YOU WOULD BE FORE EVER.BEST WISHES MRS.CLINTON.GOD BLESS
Hillary Smillary….
At first, I was fine with either Democratic candidate winning the nomination. But now, after watching Hillary resort to the silly political games in order to get votes, I’m more skeptical of having her represent the Democratic party in November.
I hate to say this but…John McCain would eat Hillary alive in the General Election this fall. She wouldn’t stand a chance primarily because this is still America, and there are still people out there who believe that a woman’s place is in the home.
As crazy as it sounds, those people would feel more comfortable with a black man running this country rather than a white woman.
The people of this country have spoken out against the Republican ways of the last 8 years, and to put someone on the Democratic ticket who the Republicans believe can be completely dominated is not what we as a country need in order to change the ways of this country.
