Clinton Revives Race for the White House

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Posted March 5, 2008) – Sen. Hillary Clinton bested her top rival Sen. Barack Obama with wins in three of the four state contests.  The New York senator won in Rhode Island, Ohio and Texas.  Obama’s only primary win was in Vermont.

How did she do it?  Clinton was able to secure the White, Latino and senior citizen vote in Texas; in Ohio she won the working class folks concerned about jobs and the economy.  Clinton needed a strong showing to stay viable; winning these two large states does just that.

Obama did well among African- American voters, young folks and the well educated.  But he didn’t win over enough Latino voters in Texas or older voters in Ohio.  Clinton bested him by getting more late deciders in both states.

Clinton told her supporters in Columbus, Ohio, “For everyone here in Ohio and across America who’s been ever been counted out but refused to be knocked out, for everyone who has stumbled but stood right back up, and for everyone who works hard and never gives up — this one is for you.  You know what they say,” she said. “As Ohio goes, so goes the nation. Well, this nation’s coming back and so is this campaign.”

Obama congratulated Clinton on her victories, but played down her wins, saying they didn’t net her more delegates, and remains ahead in the race for pledged delegates. Obama decided to direct his remarks toward the future Republican challenger, Arizona Sen. John McCain.  McCain secured enough delegates Tuesday to win the Republican nomination.

“Because John McCain may claim long history of straight talk and independent-thinking, and I respect that.  But in this campaign, he’s fallen in line behind the very same policies that have ill-served America.  He has seen where George Bush has taken our country, and he promises to keep us on the very same course,” Obama said.

Cherri McCormick, an African American from San Antonio, is a tax collector for the city and is still optimistic Obama can win the nomination.  “It’s a pretty close race, but he’s got fresh ideas, he’s smart and intelligent,” she said.

Now the Obama campaign will have to re-tool and decide how t0 rebound from Tuesday night’s  set backs.  The Clinton camp turned up the heat on the freshman senator and it worked.  That barrage of attacks may have been enough to influence those voters deciding in the last 48 hours.

African-American lawmaker, Rep. Al Green, (D-Tex) told me, “It’s not over yet, he  [Obama] knew it would be close; but at the end of the day he’ll have the same delegate lead.”  Green’s district near Houston delivered for  Obama.

The Clinton camp feels the momentum turning their way.  While Obama leads the delegate count with an estimated 1,451 delegates and Clinton has an estimated 1365, the nominees will need 2024 to secure the nomination.

One things for sure, the second “Super Tuesday” didn’t deliver an inevitable Democratic nominee.

Its funny my how my question in support of Hillary appears to have been deleted as well….Oh well I guess we can see who the blog is really in favor of…So sad.

This is terrible I thinks Obama people are censoring this site.

This is for the blog posted by Worshipper. Yes, Clinton asked the question, and no she wasn’t pouting. Here’s the deal. The media gives Obama first rights to those pre-scripted questions. But, those impromptu (out of thin area) questions go to Clinton first. Why? Because the media knows that Obama doesn’t know the answer. Thus, the media asks her first, then Obama takes his cue from her responses. Yes, I saw it with my own eyes especially during the debate in Ohio. So, do we vote for someone who thinks on his/her feet or someone who can memorize and regergitate studied information back to the people?

To Obama people who are censoring this site I will no work harder to reach my friends in Penn.

obama will win.

Ann Said on

I’m proud of her!!!! However, I will support Obama all the way b/c he has new ideas and strategies with the best enthusiasm. And that’s what we need in our country!!!!!!!!

I was highly disappointed that Hillary won 3 out of the 4 states, but I hope that Obama wins. I feel that who ever that girl is that said Obama should drop out of the race, needs to be hit with a reality check!!! Man, I don’t know what that girl was smoking, because Obama got the intelligence, confidence, and strong leadership qualities to run this country, unlike Hillary. My vote is definately going to the strongest intellectual; and that is Obama!

They are censoring OBAMA ppl, too!

I AM ONE!

Recently I posted a comment suggesting it was the media (print & Broadcast) that was manipulating the Democratic nomination, and my comments were not posted either. Ummm, I wonder why?

Obama is the man .He is honest, fair, hard working and has proven his bravery.to face the world in the manner in which he has and continues to do so is amazing. He will endure to the end.It is my guest that he will do remarkable things for all people in the future as he has in the past.OBAMA is a winner, regardless.I will not be surprised if Hillary wins as the whites would rather have a crooked two faced Hillary than the above. I donot like Hillary, never did and i used to love Bill until he showed his true colors but that is typical—nothing new.

IF Hilary gets the nomination, this will be THE FIRST TIME since I have been old enough to vote that I WILL vote Republican. If she does get he nod it wouldn’t make a difference if it is a Democrat or Republican in the chair due to the fact that NOTHING WILL CHANGE for anyone. Obama all the way!

I must say I am very very proud to be supporting Obama. We knew that this journey would be long and we knew what we were up against __ ATTACTS from the other candidates. We are still leading and that’s great. Please go to Obama.com and support/donate.

Oh yeah I truly believe that is Hillary gets elected her husband will over take her presidency just like he attmepted to do in the early stages of her campaign. Especially when her husband and Obama were in hot and heavy contraversy. I think that is why she is behind now because she does not appear to be the strong canidate. She appears weak to me and if her husband was not a former president I dont think she would as far as she is.

We need Obama to win this
no vote no voice

i am all for change, and i think hillary is the person to give us just that. so i urge all to support her in the race to the whitehouse. Go Hillary!

Barbara Bush Said on

I personally am weary of people saying the Clintons are no good. If Obama were to get in the White House his dirt would begin to rise to the surface as well. As a matter of fact it has with his drug use. The fact is neither is perfect. Both have a past but it is the future we need to look towards. To address JoJo’s statement of believing Hillary Clinton is weak. How weak is a person to have endured a husband’s affairs, having nearly every aspect of her life both personal and professional made public, being a political wife and still maintaining her own individuality, all while raising a child in the public eye? To me it seems it would take a great deal of strength and character to accomplish that feat.

Barbara Bush Said on

If Barak Obama wins the nomination the Republicans will retain control of the White House. Change is good but there is positive change and negative change. Actually all this dissention reflects very poorly on the Democratic party. As for William Jefferson Clinton he is just a man as imperfect as any other no more no less. Remember John F. Kennedy was one of our countries most beloved presidents and he was also accused of infidelity, and other trickery while in office.
