“Obama in 30 Seconds”

Posted March 14, 2008 – What creative collaboration could bring Hip Hop, Capitol Hill and Hollywood together? With music, politics and film making the ingredients, MoveOn.org has joined these forces together to judge a video competition for the 2008 presidential campaign.
Hollywood powerhouses Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, John Legend and Russell Simmons are among more than 20 celebrities who will be judging the competition and selecting a winner for the contest.
MoveOn.org, announced Thursday, they were launching an ad contest called “Obama in 30 Seconds.” Organizers said, “Anyone can make an ad about Obama between now and April 1. The public will vote on the best ads, and a panel of top artists, film professionals, and network heroes will pick a winner from the finalists.”
The rules are fairly simple, according to the liberal group; contestants get to show their talents, receive exposure and a $20,000 gift certificate, if they win.
The contest will be “Ads that are of the people, by the people, and for the people,” Affleck said. It’s “A chance for everyone, from aspiring filmmakers to armchair pundits, to raise their voices to put Obama over the top and help make history.”
Once the winner is selected, it will be aired nationally, the group said. Other celebrity judges will include actor Adrian Grenier, musician Eddie Vedder, Rev. Jesse Jackson, actor/director Steve Buscemi, music producer Russell Simmons, and movie producer/director Oliver Stone.
This isn’t the first time for a contest of this nature. MoveOn’s “Bush in 30 Seconds” contest in 2004, resulted in thousands of videos, and a winning video that aired nationally.
So all you aspiring filmmakers, music makers and literary masters, here’s your opportunity to shine.

Barak’s pastor is a racist! Racism should be condemned regardless if it comes from a black or a white person. Now I know why Mrs. Obama hasn’t been proud of her country until now. Letting your kids listen to this hate is child abuse. Can someone tell me the difference between Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s hate and the KKK? If this is the best we have we’re in trouble as a nation!
You cant control what people say. How many whites have had relatives say downright racist things about blacks…unless you grew up on Mars. And blacks and latinos all grew up around folks who had said things, or had a particular lifestyle we didnt agree with or follow.
As for Clinton, if youd think Geraldine comments were out there, why dont we go to Bill Clinton’s old church back down in Arkansas. I am sure you hear some thoughts there that would burn your ears. And of course with McCain, Pastor Hagee from San Antonio, he staunch supporter and fundraiser of McCain, believes in his words, Catholics are hell bound, and were in some ways responsible for the Holocaust.
We could be apologizing everyday and all week. These are just tactics to get everyone away from the real politics..the issues. It just shows that some forces in America will use Race to destroy the Country even if for its own political benefit.
Its just hard to understand why they went and brought up past scriptures of Rev. Wrights past sermons. What has what he says out of his mouth got to do with Senator Obama? If we are using this as a measuring Rod, then we can hold Hillary for the actions of her husband. If this is the only thing that you can find on Senator Obama, save yourself some grief and go on and elect him President. If we compared his past to the past of Hilary,on a scale, where do you think Hilary would end up. Lets stick to clean Politics, if there is such an animal.
OBAMA is what we have been waiting for… He is totally capable of leading this nation. I am a delegate for OBAMA and will proudly be at the convention to show my support.
It’s easy to see why they brought up this past pastor of Obama’s: Jerimiah Wright doesn’t hide his anger for what Blacks have been through in this country. However, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t bring Obama to know about Christ. In fact that’s what Obama says. Obama couldn’t shut his Pastor up any more than Bush could shut up Falwell; or anyone can shut up Bill Clinton. He’s not responsible for what comes out of someone elses’ mouth.
However, the dirt is having it’s effect on Obama’s confidence and Obama is going to have to hang on to his trust in God and himself. We KNOW he couldn’t hate Whites-His mother is one! He just found someone who helped bring him to God, the rest is not his doing or his fault.
