Obama’s Privacy Invaded

Posted March 21, 2008 – Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) speech on race must have hit the mark, it was the most popular video on the internet and folks apparently liked what they heard, but it’s unlikely that story will get much press today. That’s because the Obama campaign was slammed with a bombshell last night that shook the national airwaves. The State Department announced that the Illinois senator’s very private passport file had been accessed at least three times over the past three months by a contract employee. The first breach, on Jan. 8, was shortly after Obama defeated Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) in the Iowa caucus. The second time somebody tapped his file was on Feb. 21; it was accessed again on March 14.
“This is an outrageous breach of security and privacy, Bill Burton, spokesman for Obama said. “We demand to know who opened Sen. Obama’s file,” he said. For now a senior State Department official will only say the “curious” officials opened the file but there was no political or malicious intent.
Obama learned of this latest infraction while on the campaign trail in West Virginia. This isn’t the first time a passport file of a presidential candidate has been peeked at. In 1991 the then-Gov. Bill Clinton’s passport file was compromised while he waged a campaign for the White House against President George H. Bush.
Before the passport problem was discovered, the popular YouTube Web site reported the Obama speech on race in America had been clicked 1.6 million times. The speech, which lasted close to 40 minutes, was greatly anticipated to see how Obama would handle the controversy surrounding his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Wright, who is now retired, made news last week when clips from a 2001 sermon showed him saying, “God damn American” in reference to the United States policies he linked to the Sept. 11 bombings.
This latest development may get the attention of the FBI, and Obama’s folks may call for an independent investigation into the numerous breaches, understandable since security issues have been a high priority and the junior senator from Illinois was given Secret Service protection just months into his presidential campaign.

I really hope that these people were just curious and there is no malicious intent in their prying eyes. His campaign has been inundated with enough bull since he started, especially these last few weeks. I just don’t understand why America cannot just let this campaign be run with dignity and grace instead of smear campaigns and mud slinging. GROW UP!

This is more than a shame it’s an outrage! The article states that the employee had no poltical or malice intent but let’s suppose there was something in the file…it makes my head spin how fast that information would have been issued to the Clinton Campaign. It seems like now more than ever they are trying to find some dirt on Obama where there isn’t any just to tarnish his image.

Three separate incidents and I believe three individuals are a party to this breach. Only two were fired. The other person is suspended? This is ludicris. Privacy issues have gone down the drain. I’m sure Obama is not the only candidate whose information was breached recently. It’s just that the media feels this time it was important for the public to know about it.
It is shame that these security issues are problems in the Obama camp, but not surprised. We as Obama supporters knew there would be every type of effort to destroy his campaign. It will not work. Oh the forces that be will do anything in their power to discredit him because that’s politics. But a word to the wise(Republicans), THERE IS NO DIRT. STAY THE COURSE OBAMA AND YOUR LOYAL FOLLOWERS WILL FOLLOW. PEACE
This is just the tip of the iceberg. We have no way of knowing how many other government agencies have been used by this administration to dig up dirt on Obama (IRS, FBI, CIA, NSA, etc). It will really be interesting if its proven these three people were political opertives for either HRC or JMc. Lets all keep Barack Obama and his family in our prayers, he’s going to need them……

So, “certain” Americans are upset, disappointed and out of their minds about Senator Obama’s pastor’s remarks about America’s dirty ways, but when Americans are breaching security and accessing private access files there’s no outrage. They can’t see the writing on the wall and the effort that’s going into discrediting Senator Obama. Yes, this is the type of thing that goes on in politics, but I get so tired of the American people falling for the crap. Do American people use their brains to think with at all??? Geez, come on people. Are we not tired of the same old mess this country has been delivering for so many years. Can we please get on board with a decent human being who wants to give “right” a chance. We’re in a digital society still holding on to analog ways…
It’s time for America to stand up. Dirty politics has been going on far too-long. They broke the law and someone needs to pay for that. If we can’t trust politicians who can we really trust they work for us right at least that’s how it suppose to be.
This is such a shame, after months and months of trying to find any bad press on Obama, and it’s quite obvious that there is none. All they can tie him to his the words of a racist preacher who is NOT Obama.

This is “Very Serious” breach of Senator Barack Obama’s Personal Security. The State Department’s investigation must find out who,what,where,when, how, and why this happen. What was the motive behind it? Will there be any criminal charges brought against thoughs invoolved?

Obama should have disowned his pastor. Black Americans take religion too seriously. I mean, me personally, I’m thinking about becoming a Buddhist (GASP!!!!). If that was my pastor and he was sabotaging my chances of becoming the first black president, I world have disowned him so fast, and wouldn’t have looked back.
