Why Won’t Hillary Leave the Race?

Sen. Hillary Clinton campaigningBy Pamela Gentry, Senior Poltical Producer

Posted March 27, 2008 – Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) has decided she’s in this race, regardless. Does she know something we don’t about the delegate tallies and the popular vote?

I think so.

I’ve heard from some Texas Democrats that Clinton’s ground troops in the Lone Star State, in preparation  for the state convention, were given marching orders to do “whatever it takes” to nab more pledged delegates from her rival, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

But for the second time in as many days Clinton told reporters that the pledged delegates, which are awarded based on the results of their state elections, have the right to change their minds, and don’t have abide by election results.

“We talk a lot about so-called pledged delegates, but every delegate is expected to exercise independent judgment,” she said.

That sounds like what I heard from folks in Texas.  They’ve been asked to ignore the “pledged” election results? Earlier this week during a conference call, Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s campaign spokesman, flatly denied the campaign was using this tactic.

Now a new Gallup poll shows the Dems’ battle for the nomination could be driving each candidate’s supporters to Republican challenger John McCain.   The survey found that 28 percent of Clinton’s supporter would vote for McCain if Obama got the nomination, and 19 percent of Obama’s supporters would vote for McCain, if Clinton got the nomination.

This could be part of the Clinton’s strategy as well.  If she stays in long enough to cripple the party, the power play could cost the Democrats the White House.

The leadership of the Democratic Party should take some advice from Obama Girl’s new video, and persuade Clinton to step aside.   If the party can’t deal with the Clinton machine, the party doesn’t deserve to win.

For the first time, I am at a loss for words for this lady.

  2. Joy B./PA on March 27th, 2008

I truly believe that Hillary will do anything to try to win and if she can’t she will stay in this race for the long haul so that she ruins the Democrats chances of regainign the White House because she is that selfish. It is either her way or no way. We as Democrats must stay strong and not buckle under the Clinton cloud. We must vote for whom we think is the best candidate now and for who we want in the White House in November. GO OBAMA!!!!

  3. Tom on March 27th, 2008

I realy don’t get it this woman has lots of people supporting her if she wants to stay in the race so be it she has the right. Stop getting mad and fight for the one you want to win

  4. Shawn on March 27th, 2008

Tom…..Thank You! Yes every candidate running has the right to continue running that’s why this is called a DEMOCRACY! FIGHT ON HILLARY! HILLARY 08!!!

  5. freeze on March 27th, 2008

i agree with tom and shawn. if obama wants to win, let him earn it.

  6. jfffnn on March 27th, 2008

Yes,it is true that Hillary has a right too run but at what cost when her campaign is far too negative. She comes across a desperate to the point of bringing the party down. She also seems too think that she should be annointed. The best thing she can do at this point is bow out gracefully and endorse Sen. Obama, that way the Dems. can hammer away at John (100years of war) McCain

  7. jfffnn on March 27th, 2008

B.E.T. has gone from bad to worst by not posting opinions,Why ?

  8. dorothy on March 27th, 2008

Hillary Clinton needs to bow out gracefully before she makes a spectacal out of the whole Democratic party. She needs to at least try to consider not trying to win at any cost when it is clear that she told untruths(lied) to the American people. We have had enough of lies. And she needs to stop trying to clean it up with more untruths. She needs to admit that she is making mistakes or at least show creativity and thoughtfulness when she does. And what was Bill Clinton doing in a commercial standing with Bush about a year ago. What was that about. Is he saying he is going to pretend to be a Democrat and really help the republican party. So let’s see do we now have republicans possing as democrats to get their dirty work done. She doesn’t seem to care about tearing up the Democratic party instead of standing together when it is obvious her opponent is going to win. Hillary Clinton STOP BEING A POOR LOSER! If you want to help your campaign CHANGE and let true change take run its course. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT

  9. Keia on March 27th, 2008

I think it’s highly hypocritical for the Clinton camp to throw mud but whine about how the Obama camp throws it back (he finally decided to go on the offensive for a change). Typical Bill and Hillary. YES! I said both names because this has become a 3 person-democratic race. So, Obama may as well start attacking perverted Bill as well. How can he question anyone’s patriotism when he was a draft-dodger during the Vietnam War? And, what about his… this family doesn’t quit comment. He wouldn’t know anything about a “family” if it squirted out of him. Jerk!

What station is WET on my cable system? I’ve been looking all over for white entertainment television, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. GO MCCAIN in ‘08!!!!!!!!!!

  11. lad on March 28th, 2008

Hilliary is a trip, she is a liar, a cheat, a sore loser and more. I am so sick of her, I do wish she would quit. She is playing a dirty game to win and it is turning off alot of people. I hope the superdelegates, electorial college and everyone is truly watching her and realizing the truth. She is trying to be a big boy but for real she is a girl. Maybe she forgot the gracefulness a woman should have in all things. I said this several times and I hate to but it is true. I will vote for John McCain if Hillary wins the nomination. I am not a republican but I rather see him in the office instead of her. This is crazy.

    Brian,

Every channel is WET. I’m sorry I guess you haven’t noticed.

I think that everyone needs to get real and pull out the bible. Everything that is going on and that will be taking place in the near future is already predaned by God. It really does’nt matter who we choose or vote for as president because the matter is that Obama is a african american and Hillary is a woman and certain people have problems with races and genders when we all need to get on one accord and start praying that everything will work out for the good of those who love the lord because America will be in praying time when they decide to put whom ever they choose. This is not the beginning and it will not be the end until we get together on one accord. Read the bible or better yet read revalations, it’s in the word.

  14. William on March 28th, 2008

Hillary, please go some where and sit down with your racist self. And trust me, she is racist. She hid it well for a long time, but what’s in you will surely come out, and she’s proven just that. But hey, if she wants continue to look like boo-boo-the-fool, then let her.

  15. jfffnn on March 28th, 2008

    Brian
The website you post your stupid comments on is owned by white people.

  16. lisa on March 28th, 2008

I wish we would stop trying to “justify” things and just speak the honest truth for once. We ALL know we voting for obama because we want a brother in office. we aint foolin nobody, we just dont wanna look bad in the process, but its already out there. stop bringing attention to ourselves by bashing Hillary. Trust , white folks know that if Obama aint the nominee, baby it will be the L.A. riots all over again, folks is already talking baby!! chill my people.

  17. jfffnn on March 28th, 2008

    Lisa
I doubt folks will riot if Obama doesn’t get the nomination. As I said before any,and I do mean any democrat is far better then “100 years of war” McCain. If any thing will make us look bad is rioting if Obama is denied the nomination, that in of itself will drive white voters in droves to McCain.

  18. Taruis on March 28th, 2008

Man, Lisa said something that aint far from the truth though. Ive actually heard the same thing, well at least where I’m at people are talking. I guess its just so intense people don’t want their vote stolen from them. Its sad though, the possibility of great change may lead to outrage if it doesnt come. I guess people are saying either its Obama or nobody at all.

  19. Helen B. on March 28th, 2008

Our Country is in peril. I cant believe that I’m seeing such words of violence and confusion. It breaks my heart to see young people even mentioning the thought of participating in riots if Obama isnt the nominee. I’ve lived through that in the 60’s and I tell you, the only people it hurts is us! Whether you are an Obama or a Clinton supporter, lets come together in love and respect our differences. Violence is not the way young people!

  20. BooBoo on March 28th, 2008

1st I agree with ALL who commented to Brian’s Ridiculous comment about WET! Idiot… As for Hillary @ the beginning i was dwn for the 1st woman as president however i changed my mind on primary day and VOTED 4 Obama!! Im glad I did!! The deceptions, lies and ongoing Dirt digging Hillary is doing in THIS campaign shows why MOST men dont believe women can handle the pressures of running a country!! She cant even run a FAIR race!!!! Im so OVER them CLINTONS!!!

  21. angelic on March 28th, 2008

Let Hiliary stay in the race. The longer she stays the more the truth comes out.
She will get more and more weary, and she will continue to sling more mud, and most of it gets thrown back at her.
About now the Clintons are looking awful.

  22. LADY on March 29th, 2008

I thank black & white American will show how inferioe ther are . As lisa spoke that in it self say’ that black are not ready for change why would any people of color want to show such violents just because Obama dose not get elected. he is not worthy. I guess it ok that he is no better then Sen Clinton, to speat of violent and lose , what a way to show you true colors.I know you blacks want your black presdent but less keep it real.know better then Hillary she deserve the same chance torun her race. it is not fair for her to quit just because you want Obama to win. just like black people all ways wanting people to give you something. Hillary stay ine race.her leaving would just made things easy for Obama. But on the other hand if you people go and tear up you on stuff that fine. you only hurt yourselfs, so knot youself out.GO HILLARY

  23. LaToia P. on March 29th, 2008

I dont entirely disagree with Lisa’s comment because I’ve heard it to right here in Atlanta. I mean how dare one person completely steal an entire nations voice? That makes me mad enough within itself. Did my vote not count? Did African Americans not speak up loud enough? If Obama does not get the nomination, I don’t know if it will be taken to the streets… but its fair to say some folks will show out sure enough.

  24. Daryl on March 29th, 2008

See, the thing is that the White Devil still dont think the Black vote has weight. If Obama looses to Hillary, I think that we’ll show just how strong we are. Amerikkka needs to recognize our Black Power, and if that means taking it to the streets, Amerikkka will realize our voices should have been heard!

  25. Janelle on March 29th, 2008

These comments are the reason we are not ready for a Black President. We can’t even have discussion or an primary race without folks pushing Clinton to quit or have debates where people from the looks of it will threaten a revolution if Obama does not win. What kind of America is this if we wont allow the Democratic process to work out? I’m starting to see now, its not Obama thats being under attack, but its Hillary Clinton! Go Hillary, fight! We will win!!!

  26. Jeanice on March 31st, 2008

I don’t want Hillary to quit. Then people will say it wasn’t fair.Let her stay, she will lose, and Obama will beat Mccain. And she is dreaming if she thinks delegates are going to change their minds. We are not little kids and this is not pre school. And we can see through her politics as usual,do whatever to win. We want NO more of this. We want hope and change. And personally I voted for Obama brcause I believe in him. NOT because he’s black.I don’t see color. Color will not change things people will. YES WE CAN!!!

  27. Darryl on March 31st, 2008

I think if American people sell out for John (baby bush)Mccain that will bring out bad things in America that we are trying to change.
    GO OBAMA!!

  28. Deitre on March 31st, 2008

You all had better pick up a newspaper. This was all a ploy. The Republicans will be seated again and we have all of the ignoramouses out there to thank for it. The Republicans know they can always rely on the Democrats stupidity when stealing a win. Thanks America you’ve been great!

  29. Calvin on April 1st, 2008

    My Question to all….
    Can you trust Hilliary?
    I sure as hell don’t.

  30. Fired Up! on April 1st, 2008

Lady, you need to learn how to spell..seriously. Please dont attempt to discredit a people on thier website and not even know how to speak/type the english language. For the record all blacks are not voting for Obama. Finally all blacks that are voting for Obama are not voting soley because he’s black..come On! The man is brilliant cant we just acknowledge brilliance without putting a race on it. It’s great that he is black no doubt, but Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton never moved the way this man has, nor would they have gotten my vote. If it were those two against Hill I would have voted for Hill but now that she has shown the MONSTER that she is I am sooo straight. We will win and things will be good for All AMERICANS because Obama will be a president for the people…black white chinese blue and yellow.
    Doing Great in Great…Obama 08′!!!!!!

  31. shanae on April 2nd, 2008

i dont think its a good idea to have a woman as a president because there is no way that any other country will treat america the way it would if there was a man holdin the seat down. i’m not knocking Hilary for doing what she wants to do, i would love to have a woman in the seat to let everyone know that we nhave a voice and we need to be heard. i believe that evryone should fight for what they want and do what it takes to get the positive attention that they need.

  32. jfffnn on April 2nd, 2008

There have been female heads of state before,Ghandi of India,Thacher of the UK,even Golda Mier of Isreal and none of those countries lost respect when they were in power. The problem with Hillary is Hillary not the fact she is a woman,it’s her political ambitions in OVERDRIVE that taints her. I say she should run as long as she can,but do so with regard to the Democratic party and Sen. Obama, less she wants McCain too win in Nov. 08

  33. Jason on April 4th, 2008

I for one fully understand the frustrations of those willing to take to the streets, because for years we have fought to gain respect and equality through the political process and we have made little progress. Yet we must consider that while we are working on our paper work others are laughing and poking fun at us and will simply “tear our papers to shreds” and continue to do what they want no matter what a piece of paper says…hence continued slavery after the emancipation. So in my opinion I say prepare for War during times of Peace/diplomacy.

  34. bradentonreader on April 4th, 2008

“NO”, SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON DOESN’T KNOW ANYMORE THEN WE DO. SHE JUST WANTS TO MAKE SURE THAT SHE CAN MESS THINGS UP FOR SENATOR BARACK OBAMA,TO HURT HIM IN THE GENERAL ELECTION AGAINST SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN IN NOVEMBER. SENATOR BARACK OBAMA IS HEADED TOWARD THE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, AND THE CLOSER HE GETS TO RECEIVING THE NOMINATION, THE MORE TROUBLE SHE CAUSES FOR HIM. WHICH MAKES THIS HER SOLE MOTIVE FOR STAYING IN THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE.
