Who Will Black Republicans Vote For?
By Pamela Gentry, Senior Political Producer
July 21,, 2008 – Black Republicans are being asked if party loyalty or the chance to vote for an African American for president will be a tough choice to make.
Prominent Black members of the GOP, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell, political talk show host Armstrong Williams and former Oklahoma Rep. J.C. Watts, have all noted that the historic nature of this election could make the choice tough, but they haven’t disclosed whether they will vote for Sen. Barack Obama.
Over the weekend, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was asked by CNN show host Wolf Blitzer what she thought of Obama’s candidacy to become the next commander and chief.
Blitzer: “Now, you grew up in the segregated South. You know what racism is in our country. The fact that Barack Obama is now the Democratic presidential nominee, what does that say to you?”
Rice: “I think it’s great. And I think it’s great for our country. And I do think it says that we’ve come a long way. But it’s interesting that it’s from Colin Powell. He knocked down a few barriers of his own. He knocked down the barrier of chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He knocked down the barrier to the first Black Secretary of State. Yes, I’ve knocked down a few too. It just shows that our country has been doing this for a while, and it’s great that this last barrier perhaps, has also come down.”
Blitzer: “Have you decided who to vote for?”
Rice: “Wolf, yes.”
Blitzer: “Do you want to tell us?’
Rice: “No.”
Rice, a Republican, is one of President Bush’s top advisers on foreign affairs. She wasn’t given up the info on her presidential pick. But it makes you wonder, why didn’t she just say the nominee of her party when asked?
Do you think Black Republicans will cross party lines to support the first African-American nominated by a major party for the presidency, or will they stick with the GOP?

In My Opinion, White people support white people no matter how bad they mess up the country. For instance . . . “George Bush” . . . So black people need to do the same. Black People need to start supporting black people so we can get ahead for a change. You see white people tatics are to turn us against one another in order to cause confusion among ourselves. Now is the time for black people to stay focus and vote for Obama and send a message to white people, that you will no longer hide behind the curtain and separate us. We must now unite, because we might not ever get another chance to get this close to be president. White people have destroyed this country for many years, and still haven’t got it right. Now let’s show them how to do it right . . . VOTE BLACK!!!!
I think Rice will vote for Obama. Looking at Rice politically, I have to say that she was/is playing the game that has to be played to get and stay where she is. Unfortunately, for her, the game was played with probably one of the worst Presidents in American history, but hey she had to get in where she fit in. But, come on, she is not a stupid woman. In fact, I believe that she 100% Obama. And of course, being in the position she is in and a republican, she wouldn’t say who she is voting for. But, for some reason, I do believe it’s Obama all the way. Obama 08!
Niecie
I think you are on to something due to the fact when Wolf Blitzer aske her on CNN who she will vote for She said made up her mind but will not say who she decided on. WHAT !? - Here is a leading Republican female who many Republicans wanted on the ticket yet she will not say that she will or won’t vote for John McCain. Why the secret from a woman that worked in the bush adminstration since day one ?
i think black rep. will support McCain, we as blacks have a hard time showing love and support for one another, we must show the white man than we can play the game too.
To Mr. Rolando B. Gastino, hey genius we are only 12% of the population, so if all black people vote for Obama and all white people vote for McCain guess who wins the Presidency? I agree we should support Obama with all we have but don’t think we can just win this thing with blacks alone.
simmy
The only game blacks will be showing the white man we can play via voting for John McCain is Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic pistol.
All of them old negro minstrals will be dancing for McCain, I can see them all in their suites with their Bow ties , handing out apple pie and mint tea with white gloves on. All the while singing dixie tunes with big smiles. And their masters sitting in rocking chairs , saying thats mine right their, I raise em good they do what I tell them to.
Neicy,
I think your analysis is very on target,
What I would like for all people to do is research Barack Obama and come up with a better reason to vote for him just because he is black. Just because he is black does not mean that things are going to change automatically for black people. If Condolezza Rice votes for McCain, than that is her vote. I really wouldn’t expect for her to vote for Obama because she is a strong Bush supporter. McCain and Bush share the same views on many issues and Republicans seem to think McCain will be better suited for the job. If she votes for Obama, I don’t think race would have anything to do with it. I’m voting for Obama because he represents a great change in America. I understand his economic, education, and social views. He comes off as someone who is for the people and not someone who dosen’t care about rising food cost and gas prices just because it makes him money. And people actually have to VOTE if they want their voices to be heard anyway. OBAMA 08′!!!!!!!
THANK YOU CAMILLE…. I agree with you 100%! While I think it’s great that more of us blacks are voting, I also think you have to vote according to where you want the direction of America to go! I wonder if some of us would be voting if a white man or woman was in the position that Barack is in now? Think about it figure out out why you are voting for who you are voting for! OBAMA 08!
Hey GW, that was nasty and unnecessary what you said to Rolando. Everyone here is just sharing an opinion and opinions are like noses..everyone has one and they all smell! Anyway… I think it will be interesting to see how blacks in the GOP vote, but equally interesting to me is how people like Jessie Jackson and Andrew Young will vote. Both of them have been publicly disrespectful to Obama and resentful and jealous over his meteoric rise to the top as this nation’s first (possible) Black President. It seems they might be able to learn something from Condi and Colin. Imagine That!
Listen and try to soak this in. Blacks will vote for Barack and some of the Republicans will also. I believe they are proud that we have a viable person who can rule the greatest country in the world.
Also, lots and lots of whites are voting for Barack.
Stop listening to the media and think for yourself
It’s no doubt who Condo Rice will vote for, Obama…..She knows 1st hand how bad her current boss has handled the presidency. What’s the problem with voting for a brother if you’re black? I say, nothing, we need to stick together !!!
They will vote Obama. It’s not possible for them to pass up this opportunity to vote for the first serious black America for president.
I’m a stanch support of common sense politics and I’ve been criticize for doing so. I don’t vote according to race, age, gender or party. It’s becoming increasing obvious that the democrats and republicans in Washington are not interested in solving problems. Frankly, they don’t want to talk rationally about the problems of America. All I hear is name calling and the blame game. I’ve been looking for McCain or Obama to take a stand on something (and stick with it) and neither of them seemed to have the back bone to do what’s right for America.
You know I see some of these young Blacks and wonder how they got the way they are. I don’t endorse any party because they are all “apt to”, but after 7 years of this stuff I am ready for a change and I don’t know what’s wrong with anyone, including the super rich who can tolerate another 4 year of this stuff. I wasn’t surprised at some of the politicians (Black) that went with Clinton instead of Obama because I know they thought as always “we’re just wasting our vote” even before they knew what he was going to say. I was especially insulted by Jessie Jackson because I was behind him when everyone said he couldn’t win. I felt that if we (Blacks) didn’t vote for him he couldn’t win…then he, knowing the situation, did just what many other Blacks did to him. I must confess, If I think that a Black politician has something that they can offer to this government I will cast my vote for him/her because as a rule when Blacks run for office they are usually twice as smart and Whites to even get in the game. If they screw up…it’s called equal opportunity. I’ve cast my votes for White candidates who screwed up. I heard all this crap about Hillary and when Chisholm ran for President she couldn’t get any of those women to vote for her and women had even more problems then. Whites usually vote for white like Bush even as dumb as he was…so why shouldn’t I give my people a chance? If Sen. Obama had been a White male they wouldn’t have carried on this way had Clinton lost to him. We are a racist country and I look forward to the young people making it better. I feel that Sen. Obama will be one of them. I never thought that I would see this in my life time.
I think that jon mcain dont have a chance because us blacks have been waiting for a black presidant and us woman have been waiting for a woman presidant for many, many years and if we vote for jon it will be for many years to come
I know that in my life time you will not see another black person get this close to the ultimate power in the country.
There are people making sure we have a really hard time being taken serious next time a black person gets too close to the oval office.
It is vital that we show unity now. Right now. We don’t have another chance to see this. It’s now or never.
One!
Camille
You suggested that blacks do research on Se. Obama and come up with a better reason too vote for him outside the fact he is Black. Then you hit the nail on the head by saying you are voting for him because “he represents great change in America”. don’t you think other Blacks see the samething ? Anybody remotely familiar politics knows Sen McCain is really Sen. McSame and all we would get is a continuation of Republican politics of tax breaks for the rich , no affodable health insurance, more fiasco in the middle east, etc.I believe your last post points out why people should vote for Se. Obama.
Really? hard to believe.i heard this news times from many friends playing on a tall dating site ___Tallmingle.com___,i did not believe, i think that they are know nothing but dating and love.
i am wrong.
I agree, somewhat in what Camille is saying on the part of doing your research, and also about C.Rice. If she does vote for Obama, it would have to be that she supports him for his politics and believe in him. I don’t think she would vote for him just because he’s black, being a bush supporter, and would like to see this country run in a different way. We have to look at the big picture, and the condition this country is in,we are in a economical crisis. As well as other things, we can’t afford or need a repeat of bushes politics. Don’t just vote for him because he’s black, have a better reason than that, If anything believe in the man himself, he deserves a better reason than, Just bieng a black man. I’m a Obama supporter and have been from the beginning and of Hillary. But she took my views of her, to a whole different level, but I respect the fight and determination in Mrs.Clinton. Mr.Obama is, to me, the better candidate I stongly believe in his vision, and politics besides, we need someone who is for all people. Change does not come overnight, but it will come I think this man, is the man to get it done. Don’t mis understand me, in my time and those old enough to know what this means and what they have been through, and seen our elders, this would be a historical event. I would’nt mis this for the world, If god’s willing. I totally believe in unity among our people, something we need to more of. Just do your research, and if you go for Barack Obama, than I say get ready for a change. I will be supporting the Sen. this coming election 100% and hope I see those supporters of Obama out as well. Peace and blessings
Ya’ll really think we are one and done. How can you look at where we started from and where we are today, and then honestly say we will never see this again? Black people are smart and savvy enough to get back to this point again. This won’t be the last time you see a black presidential candidate. If Obama can do it anybody can.
Are ya’ll serious? the real racists of today are blacks. If one black person doesn’t agree with the majority of blacks, he/she is labeled as an uncle tom. Most blacks are only voting for Barack because he is black…keep in mind, he has a white mother, and he was raised by his WHITE grandparents… One day history will show that somewhere along the way blacks fell off…MLK was a great great man, there are many great blacks. History shows the power that blacks have when they work together, history shows that when blacks get together they can do anything but guess what people, that time is no more. What happened? Think for YOURSELF and not for the color of your skin. Blacks voting for someone because of their skin is the same as other race’s voting against someone because of their skin…its the same thing. so go on, and be racist
Look people, she said that because she didn’t want blacks getting mad at her for voting for McCain. Think about it….the black community is so judgemental that if she said who she was voting for then she woulud be outcasted by blacks
Lynn, I suggest that you learn the partie’s history before making such a comment!!!!!
black people…
YOU ARE ACCUSING BLACKS OF BEING RACIST AND JUDGEMENTAL BUT YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE BECAUSE YOU YOURSELF ARE BEING JUDGEMENTAL JUST BY ASSUMING THAT YOU KNOW WHY SOME BLACKS ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA!!!
WHY CAN’T YOU GIVE BLACK PEOPLE THE SAME CREDIT THAT YOU GIVE WHITE PEOPLE? DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE WEIGHED THE ISSUES AND MADE INFORMED DECISIONS BEFORE VOTING ALL THESE YEARS??? BUT SOMEHOW IN YOUR MIND BLACKS CAN’T DO THAT??? PLEASE!!!!
AND FURTHER MORE, you don’t know why Ms. Rice said what she did. Senator Obama is a BLACK man…deal with it!!!!
To the individual who commented that some blacks were racist and contradicting MLK’s ultimate message (content of character over skin color) by voting for Obama only because he’s black, — I think you’ve hit the bullseye! In fact, as a black man who’s actually looked beyond skin color and studied Obama’s platform and many of his positions, I do not think that I can in good conscience vote for him. In my opinion, there’s cause for legitimate concern that an Obama administration would strengthen the already over-reaching arm of government and possibly further weaken the institution of marriage and the family… [Again this is simply my “opinion” based on what I’ve studied, so far. I’m open to constructive, cogent feedback from others here.] For me, I believe ALL American’s are working toward fulfilling MLK’s “dream” when we move beyond focusing only on skin color.
I am a black Republican and I am one because of principles.
I stand for limited government.
I am solidly pro-life.
I am for the right to bear arms.
I believe the US should fight against Islamofascism.
It would be a betrayalof those principles to vote for Obama.
As a black Republican, I will be voting for John McCain this year.
McCain 08!!!
The last time I checked Black Americans have cable and dish networks to. So to say that we as black folks only vote for Sen. Obama because of his skin color is beyond stupidity. Granted some of our people may not be as informed as others but that crosses all color lines! I believe the majority of our people are supporting Sen. Obama because of his platform not his skin color. It’s one thing black folks have a sick sense for and it’s BS! What I see and hope our people see is a honest as possible politican with good ideas, morals, and the judgement to best run our country. If you are a Black Republican thats your right to vote as you chose. But ask your self this do I want to be on the wrong side of history? I leave everyone with this do you think if a Black Republican was running under the policies of Republicans Black America would support him/her in such big numbers? I think not it’s not just about RACIST! It’s about whose best to run this country! GO OBAMA 08!!!!!!!
Having cable and dish network and closely following politics on them (i.e. reading beyond 10 second video clips) are two different things… As far as the issue of some blacks only focusing on skin color, a simple review of earlier comments indicates the idea is certainly not “beyond stupidity.” (e.g. “VOTE BLACK!!!!”, “What’s the problem with voting for a brother if you’re black?…we need to stick together !!!,” “I think that jon mcain dont have a chance because us blacks have been waiting for a black presidant”, etc.)… Anyway people are entitled to their opinions. –I respect that. Thank you BET for providing a forum where our voices can be heard.
To say that all black people will support Obama and whites will tend to support Mccain is illogical. As a 53 year old white male supporter of Senator Obama I can firmly tell you most of my white friends, asian friends black friends and hispanic friends support Senator Obama based on who he is and what he espouses, race is a minor consideration, but a positive sign. Everyone should vote his/her heart based on thorough knowledge of the candidates record. I am voting the way I am because I believe in Senator Obama and wish for everyone else to choose based on facts not emotions. Four more years of failed republican policies will bankrupt the country.
Yes, I do think Black Republicans will cross party lines to support Obama. I also think SOME White Republicans have already crossed party lines to support Obama. Barack Obama is the best man for President.
HOLLA!!
YES WE CAN!!
Both black Dems and republicans have a valid point. I am an independent because I am conservative on some issues but liberal on others like abortion. I do believe in the right to bare arm and I’m pro-choice in many instances like rape or if women really can’t afford them because so many black as well as white children are joining gangs and being exploited by sick bastards in this world. So many children have been raised in foster homes or have been raised in the streets. So, consequently if you can’t afford to have children or take care of yourself then don’t have them.
Furthermore, You can’t just vote for someone just because he or she is black without knowing where they first stand on various issues. However, Obama could be a typical politician and change his views and positions once he’s elected and just become a typical white redneck republican like Jesse Helms was, or a self hating black republican like Allen Keyes. You also have to make sure that Obama isn’t being used by the most powerful families that run this world to do further harm and distruction to the black race. For instance, three fifths of the worlds population is to be killed in order to inact population control and create one world government, in which most blacks don’t even know about. It’s called The New World Order. For a better perspective on what the hell is really going on visit http://www.healthfreedomusa.org
Planned Parenthood, the number 1 advocate for abortion in the US, started out as a major force for population control.
Dr. Aleveda King, niece of the illustrious Dr. King, heads Black Genocide which reports of the calculated agenda to reduce the population of blacks through abortion.
Patrick N. Washington
Yadda,Yadda,Yadda. Abobortion is a fact that will never, ever go away.White women have far more abortions than Black women so it’s really not a question of genocide as the holyroller rightwingers want people too think,it’s a matter of choice and is the woman ready too have a child.
Sorry about typo - Abortion it should read,it’s still early and coffee has not kicked in yet.
She is a great woman, support her.
many fans talked about her on a tall dating site ____Tallmingle.com____ ,especially those models.
its ridiculous to vote for ANY CANDIDATE BASED SOLEY ON SKIN .. but of course many will do this as its about THEIR SELF ESTEEM . however, since CONDI RICE HAS UPHELD THIS DISCREDITED REGIME for so long she is not about to start supporting one who voted against everything she STANDS FOR.. so, i VERY MUCH DOUBT THAT THE LIZARD “RICE” is about to turn states evidence and pull for obama here.. YOU VOTE ACCORDING TO YOUR CONSCIENCE!!. GOD HELP US THE WORLD IS WATCHING ANXIOUSLY AS WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WHEN AMERICA VOTED WITH THEIR FEAR LAST TIME.!!
ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD EVEN SUGGEST THAT ALL BLACKS VOTE FOR OBAMA COS HE IS BLACK!! THAT IS THE MOST IDIOTIC REASON TO VOTE FOR ANYONE FOR ANYTHING… AND MR SIMPLE MIND “CASTINO” AT THE TOP THERE, YOU REALLY ARE FULL OF GAS TO EVEN PUT THAT ON THE AGENDA..
WHAT DO THEY SAY.. “YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN SCHOOL”..EDUCATION GOES A LONG WAY..
Can you imagine a M.Steele or K. Blackwell running for Pres. and neither one attends the 40th anniversary of Dr. King’s death. The media and blacks would have ripped them apart but they give Barry a free pass. Once again, we have double digit black unemployment, how can a black candidate say he plans to legalize 20mil illegals and if you question him, you’re considered a uncle tom or house negro.
Why are so many people thinking that blacks are voting for Obama just because he is black???? That is so ludicrous to me!!! When Al Sharpton ran was there an overwhelming support of blacks behind him??? Nope….When Carol-Mosely braun ran was there an overwhelming support of blacks behind her??? I think not…..and Jesse Jackson, ok yall get it…..America sees who will really be for the people, and speak for the people, and really see CHANGE in Washington….It is not about skin color, blacks would not have supported Kerry in large numbers like they did in ‘04 over Al Sharpton….Think about it!!!

But hey that’s America - gotta love it!
It appears that some black republicans have more sense of self than some of those sellout black dems. It has long been time for a black president and more. The disgrace is that it took this country so long to allow it to be even possible. I’m not so ready to pat America on the back.
why did it take you so long to understand that this power was always there for you to take?.
you spent too much time worrying about WHAT WHITE PEOPLE WILL DO OR SAY .. its conditioning.. even before obama stood there was a lot of resistence from blacks who felt that NO WHITE PERSON WOULD EVER VOTE FOR A BLACK MAN.. not true. its how you PITCH IT..
You can argue all you want with what I said but in your heart you know it’s true. Of course not all blacks are voting for Obama bc he is blacks but most blacks are. Again, you can argue that point but you know its true. and someone was right. If you know your history, if you have studied the purpose of the government if you have studied the purpose of the presidency then you HAVE to know that Obama will only take the govt where it shouldn’t go. Yes, Bush did that too, so did clinton and reagan and nixon. All presidents do, but Obama is going to take this country where it sholdn’t go. We are a capitalistic country, Obama will move us closer to socialism
I think that Condolezza will vote for Obama as well but not just because he’s black. Yeah she is a republican but I’d be one too if I could climb the politcal ladder as well as she has. I believe that her choice of party is strickly business. You cannot be a black person and not be proud of Obama’s acheivements wether you vote for him or not (unless your Jessie Jackson LOL). Give the man his credit. Either vote Obama or McCain your decision 08! Me Obama all the way! At least we fail we can say that we tried. And if your mama taught you right, you’d know that there’s nothing wrong with trying. Really look at the situation now, what would you really have to lose!!!!!!!!!!
So much self hatred, rhetoric, opinions, judgements and assumptions on this blog. Not too much real debating of the issues with respect and intelligence. Plenty of raw emotion.
donald
What issue are you willing to debate ?
This is in reference to the person who made the statement that they were voting because,”as a republican he was voting his principle’s , well as a african american women and as well as democrat, i will be voting for barack obama not because he’s black, but because this black man has the audacity to tread in territory where only the white man is suppose to be. and the shame and disgrace come’s in when some of the so called black republican’s will come on the television and sit side by side with white republican’s and take the whip from the white and assit in beating barack obama with the whip, and the whip is their mouth, the whip is the microphone, so the question is do we call that “principle”,and GOD has given me the permission to speak on this matter, and as far as socialism is concerned the word of God tell’s us to help our neighbor if he hungers, so the question is are we a nation of need or a nation in deep denial.> prophetess1953
prophetess1953,
It is very amazing to me that a radical socialist democrat like yourself is using religion to justify their political beliefs. I appreciate that!
However, your metaphorical tirade against white and black republicans is demagoguery.
Black republicans, (Steele, Blackwell, and myself) are not seeking to whip Obama, but we have sincere disagreements in his philosophy on government.
The black community must mature enough to have room for both the radical and conservative viewpoints to be accepted within it.
My dear lady, socialism is not the way that we are to fulfill the word of God to help our neighbor. (In matter of fact, it says love your brother not support your brother.)
We should never want our brother to be totally dependent upon us or the government. God help those that help themselves.
Well put brother
Can any of you tell me why you will be voting for Obama. Give specific issues that you believe will benifit this country. State what will change if Obama becomes the president, how he will initiate those changes and how he will pay for them. Obama states that he can change Washington. How will he accomplish this? What will he change? How will these changes benefit the United States?
Also, how will raising taxes for people making over $250,000 have a positive effect on America? In my opinion it will not. Raising those people’s taxes will mean many of them will take their buisness overseas, increasing the unemployment rate in this country. Why stay and provide jobs, as most of those people are small business owners?
Thank you MR.WASHINGTON, let me just say that i do not have a problem with whom you support as a presidentail candidate, but i do have a problem with AFRICAN AMERICAN men deciding it is SENATOR BARACK OBAMA’S RESPONSIBILITY to prove to you and other republican’s that he is worthy to lead a country that has never and will never answer to God, and please do not let me get on this country’s history, if you listen to REV. WRIGHT’S entire tape you will get a clearer understanding as to the reason BARACK OBAMA is running for president, this nation is in transition, GOD is a GOD OF JUDGEMENT, read the OLD TESTAMENT, and by the way read the book of joshua, and then read it all back over again, and as you read ask GOD to give you revelation knowledge, because you sir have no idea about what is really going on before your eye’s, sometime’s what we see with our natural eyes is not really what is going on in the spiritual realm, BARACK OBAMA is above and beyond your natural understanding, the white man can’t catch up with him, he is alway’s five step’s ahead of them, and by the way five is the number of (FAVOR) and so i will be religious, but the key word here is SECOND SIGHT, Keep your eye’s open young man and watch everthing that is going on before you, and did you know that politician’s speak in code’s, and so doe’s the media, and by chance have you noticed that they have been showing a lot of (MONKEY COMMERCIAL’S) LATELY. and they also have a cartoon movie out with monkey’s now i wonder what that is all about, and can you please explain that to me?
prophetess1953, if the great God in all his infinite wisdom specifically commanded you to pull the lever for Mr. Obama, I think you should do that.
However, I have not recieved that religious revelation. I do encourage for you to pray for me though.
Absence of religious revelation, I based my political philosophy upon natural reason with religious conviction.
One religious conviction is that I believe that the people of this country should protect life from conception.
Obama does not share that conviction. Obama with the whole Democratic party feels that the law of the land should allow the brutal murder of fully developed babies in the womb. His own campaign promoted the idea that partial birth abortion is a legitimate medical procedure that should be protected.
Seeing with my natural eyes that Obama will protect such a gruesome act is one of those natural reasons (backed up by my religious conviction) that I am not blindly jumping on the Obama bandwagon.
Thank you MR. WASHINGTON FOR YOUR REPLY, i see you have been keeping a close eye on SENATOR OBAMA, and i wonder why? the question is have you heard of the word (SRATEGY) have you heard of the term (BY ANY MEAN’S NECESSARY), now you may be too young to understand that term, now you called me radical, but the word is insightful, no i do not believe in abortion, i believe in the laying on of hand, i have seen GOD turn situation’s around that man gave a final no too, now as far as a woman’s right to choose, well mr. obama doe’s not have the right to keep a woman from having an abortion if she choose’s, Mr. OBAMA is not GOD , but as a christian he can minister to that person and tell her to trust GOD and have faith that GOD will turn her situation around, now their are many reason’s why women have abortion’s some of it is to hide sin, and what MR. OBAMA believe’s in is if, a woman is seven month’s pregnant and her doctor tell’s her that her life will be in danger if she tried to carry her baby to full term, well that woman would have a right to choose between her life or her child’s life and barack obama doe’s not have a right to decide for that woman, and neither do we, now and w ould you like to make that choice for her? because i know i would’nt, and i believe in life, and remember these law’s were put into place before barack obama decided to run for president, and do you really believe that if michelle obama was pregnant , and God forbid they recieved a bad report that barack would’nt do all that was within his power to keep his wife and child alive. and it seems srange that the GUN BILL AND THE FISA BILL CAME UP AT A TIME WHEN BARACK made it to the general election, can you amagine what would have happened if he had said no on the fisa bill, they would really have a trump card, so barack has to stay five step’s a head. PROPHETESS
Wow people! I am impressed and disheartened all in the same. I can understand that there are legitimate reasons for either side in this debate. I noticed Ronald recognized the raw emotion shown within these posts, but there are some serious issues that will not be addressed here. Such as Republican’s that believe that their ideals are to be forced on the masses that don’t see things the same ways. Democrats that are looking for something for nothing. And the politicians that tell us what we want to hear and only attempt to fix some of the problems because there are other backs that need to be scratched in order to scratch some nagging itches. Well, with that said, we all must understand that elections are won and lost with emotion. My father told me once that anger is a much more useful emotion than self-pity. Black folks are mad, and this is the most aggressive behavior we can use to get back at “The Man”! America isn’t prepared to handle an uplifted Black society. Self-hating Blacks will try to stop it. Whites will try to downplay it’s importance. And we will all benefit from having lived through it.
Unfortunately, the Obama Democrats would force guns out of the hands of the masses.
Obama Democrats will force people to pay extremely high taxes to support able-bodied men and women.
Dimondjak, mobs are motivated by emotion and anger also.
Living amongst the black community, I do not see as much passion for this election as I do see apathy.
Like most Americans in general, most blacks do not see that one election will uplift (or even downlift) them.
Whether Obama or McCain is elected, the uplift comes through individual improvement, one man at a time, and one family at a time.
The greatest threat to our social elevation is the deterioration of the family.
Wow Patrick,
You actually live amongst blacks???? You must elaborate!!!!!! O Do tell!!!
Wow Patrick,
You actually live amongst blacks??? O do tell!!! You must elaborate!!
dimondjak:
Democrats are NOT looking for something for nothing! That is an insult to all hardworking, law abiding, family raising, mortgage paying, democrats like myself! Do not lump us all together, that’s not a sign of your intelligence nor is it conducive to meaningful political dialogue.
Patrick,
Living in an affluent community on a hill behind secrutiy gates looking down at the black community (thru your nose probably) does not qualify as living amongst blacks!
Clint and Timothy, I know the negative effects of the welfare state firsthand.
I come from the very heart of the ghetto. I grew up in the projects and the slums of a downridden city. I have never even been to a gated community.
Food stamps, welfare checks, government housing, etc. We have been a recipient of it all. In matter of fact, most of people I know are still recipients in some way.
I can tell you that it is easier to forget your responsibility to yourself and your family when the government is constantly there to support you and your family.
I understand the need temporarily but constant assistance is counterproductive because it fosters a sense of perpetual dependency.
Perpetual dependency upon the government is not help but handicaps productivity.
It is time for gradual transition from government assistance to self-reliance.
Obama is proposing the total opposite with his 850 billion dollars of new government giveaway programs that will entrench people in a gigantic welfare state.

the best clip to watch!
Forgive me for my error in judgment with regard to your proximity to the black community. I do agree that the welfare system has been a detriment to generations of black American’s that have not utilized the system properly as a temporary measure not a permanent fix. However, I do not believe that Senator Obama intends to turn America into a gigantic welfare state; that would be the opposite what he stands for if his recent speeches are any indication. It is my belief that the majority of black Americans would rather have a decent job and an opportunity to succeed and to take care of their families than a measly welfare check, food stamps and public housing. Only a small percentage of misguided blacks want to live below the poverty level, in gang infested, drug riddled, overpopulated, unsafe government housing. The transition from government assistance to self-reliance is made much easier if the process begins early on not generations later.
I’m amazed at how so many black men have stepped up to the plate to give their opinion about SENATOR BARACK OBAMA, but what amaze’s me the most is how a small element of black men have decided to take BARACK OBAMA apart and then put him in the catergory of a less than brillant, misinformed black man, BARACK OBAMA is a lawyer, and a CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER at that, and so we have a elemet of BLACK MEN who have decided to over look the fact that this BLACK MAN is putting his life as well as his famly’s life on the line day by day, and some may say “well he shouldn’t be running for president” and trust me how many time’s have i said that same thing, but i have to think about how far this man has come, so i say “KEEP PRESSING BARACK OBAMA KEEP PRESSING, so i “say to you black men that have decided to jump on the band wagon with your brother to give your support, i’m proud of you, you are the element that has decided that if i can give my vote to a white man, then surely i can give my brother a chance to prove hisself, and to the other element that has decided that BARACK OBAMA IS OUT OF PLACE FOR STANDING UP TO THE WHITE POWER STRUCTURE, and can you believe he use’s the name barack and not barry, oh yes this is a very brilliant black man. *PROPHETESS
Timothy, I could not had said that last statement better.
“The transition from government assistance to self-reliance is made much easier if the process begins early on not generations later.”
Unfortunately, Senator Obama’s policy proposals do not reflect that statement. Let me reiterate that Obama is planning to spend 850 billion dollars on new social programs.
Obama is not even considering reducing the already numerous and existing social programs.
Only brave Republicans are considering and pontificating policies to start to dismantle the welfare state.
850billion on welfare programmes whatever that means is better than spending the requisite amount on that public works excercise called the “iraqi war”.at least more people get to leech off the system than that bunch of hoodlums oil executives sitting in the whitehouse right now…!!
black republicans are not obliged to vote for obama because he is black.. that is stupid..
Saddam Hussein was enriching uranium to develop nuclear weapons. If he had stayed in power, he would had them within a little amount of time.
We went to war in Iraq to prevent that from happening.
Every American should be very pleased that Saddam Hussein did not get a chance to have his finger on a nuclear weapon.
This is to all the african american men, we are in the year 2008, but as black men you have to be very concious of the location’s in which you travel, and please do not go into place’s that you are not familiar with, You may say to your self “Why is she trying to promote fear” well the is this, it is a fact that BARACK OBAMA is running to be PRESIDENT, and it is another fact that whenever a black man is running against a white man, thing’s become very heated, in other word’s the white man see’s the black man as less human as themselve’s, so don’t fool yourself PATRICK, you may be educated to the hilt, but in the eye’s of some white’s, we are considered as less than as oppossed as to equal, now most white’s will vote for obama no matter what, because in the mist of obama’s traveling through america, the cover’s have been taken off, we have the have and the have not’s, and their are a lot of have not’s. and they are white, so skin tone has nothing to do with poverty, so what barack has done is to show that THE UNITED STATE’S OF AMERICA HAS FAILED TO LEND A HELPING HAND TO THOSE IN THIER TIME OF NEED, ” and can someone please tell me why they are a DEMOCRAT”, because when i was a small child i ” asked my mother why were we democrat’s” and her reply was “well the republican’s take from the poor and give to the rich, so can someone please tell me why they are a DEMOCRAT? * PROPHETESS *
I WILL be voting for BARACK OBAMA in November. I do think it is time for a change in America. That doesn’t mean I will vote for Obama because he is black. I’m voting for him because he is different than McCain. McCain is just like Bush. How can we go though another four years of another Bush? Bush doesn’t care! He down there in Texas having hisself a good time. This country needs someone like Barack. He is already going around the world to other countries letting THEM know how he plans to help America. I saw John McCain criticize Obama for this. He said “Barack is going to other countries sounding like a president but he isn’t a real one.” All this let’s me know is that he is SCARED of Barack!
OBAMA ‘08!!!!!
who they want to!!!!! like us all we will vote who we want to vote for that is a right not to be concerned with what everyone else is doing right?? you or no one can assert the notion of staying with the team so to say. or for those of you it will work that way . republican or democrat white or black it is your vote and dont be bullied into some notion that any of us should fall in line the minute we do that the age old issue doesnt change now we would be part of that problem . i dont think i need to explain any further if you dont get it then you are part of the problem
Would it be somtin if Obama choose Bush favorite gurl Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as his Vice President, wow that would be some good conversation by the water cooler
yeah malik empty convo for those who want a feel good atmosphere at that cooler full of empty pretentious statements that mean nothing at the voting booth!! come now freinds i constantly see the same b.s. on this site everyone has an agenda and no one listens! instead i read all of this comments and chuckle not because of the differences in opinion but the obvious anger embittered utterances . once people get past all that i find there is no real substance to them ,just what they heard the day before from some angry idiot that recieves creedance for what again? get past the bull and listen to yourselves you will find what i see emtpy misplaced anger posing as passion get over it already !!!
I am a republican who is voting for Obama because I believe that the nation is ready for and needs a black president to unify blacks and whites in this country. Just to give you a background on me I am a white guy whose children are 1/8 black and who dates almost exclusively black women PURELY within the context laid out by Christ. NO WEDDING RING NO BEDROOM THING. I normally vote republican because I grew up in a predominantly mexican and black neighborhood and I got tired of democrats telling us we needed a welfare check and if we get a girl pregnant that don’t worry abortion is no problem. I’m sorry but my black brother is a strong black man and doesn’t need a welfare check he needs to do the same thing I did. My brother needs to pull his pants up on the weekdays and if he wants to sag on time off so be it. This one guy told me one day that people only have one way to see me and that is through the lens of their eyes and when employers see people of any color that droop their pants down their but they think of the images they see on TV of gangsters. After hearing that I completely changed. When I was promoted to a position of leadership of a door to door sales company I would tell the applicants regardless of color to take their nose rings and and eye rings out and pull their pants up when they come to work and cover any tattoos they have. I am voting for Obama because according to the bible there is a good chance Obama is the antichrist and although I live a life that I love very much as a believer in Christ I want to go home to be with the Lord and if this man is the antichrist that meens Jesus Christ’s return is almost at hand. For that reason I am going on every republican website possible and advising all; republicans and democrats alone to vote for him. The antichrist will according to Daniel 9:27 confirm a covenant with many for 7 yrs. Revelation 13:1 says “I saw a beast rising out of the sea” (Hawaii?) Nahum 3:18-19 says “O king of Assyria, your shepards slumber; your nobles lie down to rest.” Daniel 8:5 says “As I was thinking about this suddenley a goat with a prominent horn between his eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground. Hosea 14:3 says Assyria cannot save us, we will not mount war horses.” Isaiah 30:31 says The voice of the Lord will shatter Assyria” Isaiah 10:5 says “Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath! I send him against a godless nation< dispatch him against a people who anger me” Isaiah 14:25-27 paraphrased says that the Lord will strike the Assyrian down in the Lords and and that this is the plan determined for the world and that nothing can stop these events from taking place. My message to my Black, Latino, Asian and Caucasian Christian brothers is to stay close to Christ and walk in repentance “no weddin rang no bedroom thang” or according to the bible we will share in the fate of the rest of the world which is separation from Christ. To sum it up I WILL vote for Obama because the redemption of my body will come after the antichrist is revealed so vote for who you want but let no man deceive you as soon as WHOEVER sisns a seven year peace agreement we must separate ourselves from WHOEVER that person is.
PS another reason I do not normally vote democrat is that the # 1 cause for death in Black and Latino neighborhoods is abortion. They hood wink us every day when they continually target our neighborhoods to open their baby killing houses in. It is time to take out the trash gentlemen and kick these baby killers out of our neighborhoods.
Tom, if you are voting for Obama, what makes you a Republican?
If you are supporting Obama, why do you still claim to be a Republican?
There are certain issues that makes someone a Republican.
I am supporting Obama because as a Christian man my ultimate goal and hope is the eternal life that Christ offers and I can promise you that although life has returned to normal I have been through more in one lifetime than most people do in 10 lifetimes.(street fights, loss of a son, spinal injuries, people turning their back on me, a woman using me for her citizenship.) I want to go home to be with Christ. Since Mr. Obama at this point seems to fulfill scriptural requirements for the antichrist I would like all the people of Christ to assist his rise because not even the antichrist can rise to power without the Lord’s consent. If he is it is our Christian responsibility to warn those who would otherwise be deceived. In answer to your question of what makes me a republican I favor small government, self reliance, accountability and the right to life. The problem in the republican party though is that they rarely reach out to anyone that is not white. They deny the fact that ghettos were intensified by the residual anger caused by the mistreatment of my brother. It’s simple really for a long time I never fought back when picked on but one day I just snapped. After that for a long time if you were up in my grill you were getting beat hard. Was It wrong? Absolutely but if you knew where I was raised and my circumstances you would understand what made me that way. You cannot pick on a man of ANY color and not expect anger at some point. Having said that there is so much bitterness, anger and unforgiveness in black communities across the nation. I know what it feels like to be not be able to forgive atrocities. I understand the bitterness but when those two elements mix it is hard to progress. Bitterness and unforgiveness are a block to achievement. When my ex wife took me for a ride she utterly destroyed everything I had work to achieve but the only time I was able to continue on was when I learned to forgive her and the only way I was able to do that was with Christ’s strength. When I did though the depression left, the happiness and lighthearted smile returned and it literally felt like someone had released me from years of shackles and bondage. So reconciliation between southern whites and blacks is my passion. Not candybut whites but boot stompin cowboys and their black counterparts. This whole thing started in the south and until it gets resolved things will not progress. After the civil war Northern whites beat southern whites who knew they fought for the wrong cause and called them stupid and told my brother to be dependent on the government and that he was also stupid. Southern whites could not forgive the atrocities done to them by the north so they picked on the only people they could. I could have sent my ex wifes whole illegal family back to Mexico and ruin their ability to finish their legalization process but I did not. I chose wisely southern whites did not. Anger flared between whites and blacks caused by the North’s refusal to mediate between the two groups and just when it seemed in the south things were going well and the two groups were working together the union troops just picked up and left leaving my brother with no defense against whites well versed in the art of the government and excluding people. When southern blacks and whites DO come together it will be like TNT baby, holy spirit old fashioned REVIVAL. It will be like two brothers making up for lost time. God put southern blacks and whites together for a reason and no matter how much either group fights it we are southern brothers.
P.S. In Christ We Rise Together
End Racism
Forgive Each Other
I am a white single girl who want to end her single life, can you bring some changes to me? Let’s mingle at (((((==== Mixed mingle.c o m====))))) if you can. It is a wonderful place for black and white singles to have fun together.(sexysophia there)
Kyden I may be wrong but I think your posting on the wrong board, check down the hall.
say what you want but no true republican would ever vote for obama, also, anybody who votes for ANYBODY because of their skin color is racist. Do what you want but just know what when McCain wins, white people win.
Stupid people, when McBush wins…lol!!!! You are so funny…..So I take it that you are white….You sound like a contradictory fool…
Stupid people
I think you are on to something or on something with a user id like yours,Anyway when Blackwell of Ohio and Steele of Maryland lost their bids too become gov. of their states it was because white republicans didn’t vote for the black republicans running in those two states;was that racist ?
You guys don’t get it. I WANT TO GO HOME and my will to be with Christ is more than my Christian brothers and sister’s will to stay here so if there is even a chance that this guy is Mr. hornhead himself then I will not only vote for him but CAMPAIGN for him because not even the antichrist rises to power without the saints help and in doing so I will be able to warn those who are voting for him by giving them a 2 page scripture analysis because the Word says if this is him he will deceive many. If it’s not him well we can always vote him out 4 years from his election but ALL the warning signs point to this dude being hornhead guy and once again I WANT TO GO HOME.
jfffnn, both Blackwell and Steele had the full support of the GOP.
2006 was just a bad year for Republicans all over the country.
Maryland is a Democratic blue state anyway. Your man, Obama, even came to that state and campaigned against Steele.
Patrick
Blackwell & Steele had the party’s endorsment but when it came time to vote the white republicans did not vote for them.By the way there are some people who say that too vote for a black person because they are black is racist, well blacks didn’t vote for those two blackmen so is that racist
Tom:
WHAT???????????
brandon:
this site is about posting opinions and blogging not solving world problems. Get over yourself!!!You want solutions tun for office!!!
Sechris,
My thoughts exactly!!!! lol!!!!
That is what I am doing, posting my opinion. Antichrist for pres 2008.
so i’m supposed to vote for someone because our skin is the same complexion?
most of you people on this site don’t even have anything in common with obama besides that! Vote for who represents you most, we can’t expect other people to get over race if we can’t ourselves!
donna, i guess no retort is necessary for one who doesnt get it,but why not right! i thought that is what i did, guess not i suppose it depends on what my oppinion is ?? i notice on this blog site emotion overules commonsence hence scewing oppinion i actually read all of you guys thoughts and find for the most part the same old b.s. equated with everything. apparently we differ on what should be reasonable discussion , no worries though ,by the way i have to be full of myself to get over me, cute though. run for office huh? hah! since solving problems isnt for blog sites much less discussion, send me a list of what and what not to discuss. have fun!
Kevin, my vote for him transcends race but is rather based on my hope for the end times to begin; and on the political side if he is not the antichrist and refuses to drill offshore as our gas prices soar and forces us to adjust to alternative fuels without allowing time to adjust we can always seperate ourselves from the rest of the country but this time not at the expense of my brother but WITH my brother. One diverse Christian nation and one atheist nation and we will see which one God blesses.
I think that there are many people who will vote either way, but as a working class BLACK AMERICAN, i can not a forward to be the test monkey of the future, Bush has done a number on black people, and Mccain voted against Matrin Luther Kings holiday, he is Know different in anyway, whether it be policy or actions the economy will fall behind Mccain and as people we all want the same things for ourselves and our kids. As people we all want the best education for our kids , and this is the change I would like to see not just for the people who can afford private schools! But for all people who pay taxes, better jobs for all people not just the predetermined few, it is a cold day in america when we fight for equality in other countries who don’t value our values, but don’ t offer the same values to our own citzens.
Sincerley a upset father in supposed to be the greatest country in the world……….
Amen to that my freind
I would like to say that i really like your blog blogs.bet.com a lot
