A Baby On Board the Republican Ticket?

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and three of her five children. By Pamela Gentry, Senior Poltical Producer

(ST. PAUL, MINN.) Sept. 2, 2008 – So what’s up with John McCain’s running mate?  Is there anything else she would like to share with the American people before she accepts the nomination here at the Republican National Convention?

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin disclosed Monday that her 17-year-old, unmarried daughter is five-months pregnant.  Did McCain’s search committee know about this when she was selected for the ticket.  I doubt it, because they would never have thought this would remain a secret.

It’s pretty clear: McCain did not know much about Palin when he selected her to share the presidential ticket.  But the pregnancy report is the second discovery in as many days raising questions about the Alaska governor’s choice as a running mate.

On Monday it was disclosed that Palin had hired an attorney to represent her and her husband in a state ethic’s probe. The investigation is underway to determine whether Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire her brother-in-law, a state trooper who was involved in a bitter divorce from Palin’s sister.

So what else is going to be uncovered about the first-term governor?

Palin and her husband Todd released a statement on Monday confirming and acknowledging their daughter’s pregnancy.  “Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents,” the statement read.

They also announced the baby is due in December and that their daughter will marry the child’s father.  The campaign declined to reveal the father’s full name or age, only referring to him as “Levi.”

It’s too early to tell what impact these revelations will have on the campaign, but it has to bring into question Palin policy views opposing sex education and supporting abstinence only polices.

This news has galvenized the the pro-life crowd. I suspect her speech will rival obamas on the television ratings.

McCain has a trophy wife now he also has a trophy VP pick. As many journalist have already said, there are several women in the Republican party who have significantly more experience than Palin. This would lead one to think that she was selected based on age and looks. Let’s face it the Republicans are grasping at straws and will do anything to extract a win.

I wonder what the Republicans and their supporters would be saying if Obama had a 17 year old who was pregant out of wedlock? Obama has certainly risen above the fray by taking a hands off approach to this subject. And it’s the right approach. There are serious issues that need to be discussed during this election campaign.

Family values is about valuing your family members.. Actively engaging in your children’s lives and KNOWING what is going on with them. This woman does not have family values. Point blank. Bristol Palin is being forced into marrying a boy whose myspace page indicates that he’s a self proclaimed ‘f**king redneck” just to save her mother’s political career. Her mother should have put her child first and never subjected her to this level of scrutiny.
Sarah Palin is a self-proclaimed abstinence-only anti-choice (abortion), no sex-education in school, Mom who apparently fails to successfully communicate those values to her own daughter! The Palin’s wanted to be portrayed as more righteous than maybe they really are. Poor McCain!

I agree with you Esther. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Of course Obama took the high road…it would be totally out of character for him to do otherwise. Even McCain supporters should be able to see that. Teenagers get pregnant all the time and it’s often no relection on the parents but we all know that if it were Obama’s daughter the media response would be hella different! Sarah Palin was not a wise choice for many valid reasons and her teenagers pregnancy is not one of them. I’m far more concerned with her lack of judgement regarding abuse of power than her daughter’s sex life. Her stand on abortion, foreign relations, health insurance, mortgages, gas prices, etc… that’s what makes her wrong for the job or VP.

Great Post Esther!!!! Her Mother should have put her child first, and not subjected her seventeen year old child, to that level and scrutiny, and shame!!!!

And McCain knew as well, but McCain has judgment and experience!!!!! Bullshyt!!!! And Patrick Washington wants this kneejerk kind of thinking in the white House, He only had a fifteen minute conversation with this woman, and he knew about the pregnancy too, What does this say about his judgment!!!!!?????????????

McCain did not do his political homework when he picked Palin. How demanding is the VP job (she admitted that she didn’t even know what a VP does)? But with a down syndrome new born of her own (supposedly) and her second/grandbaby due in December, seems to me that she’s got some serious family obligations. Palin is a hard-line conservative republican who has made her name condemning pre-marital sex, abortion and all the other things a pregnant 7 year old symbolizes! Like most right wingers, this lady’s principles are extremely hypocritical. How can someone be anti-abortion (pro-life, all life is sacred, even unborn fetuses etc), but also advocate the death penalty?

Question for all the McCainiacts:

Did you ever think that maybe that baby she is holding might be the youngest girl’s baby?

HMMMMM

Do you think that he (McCain ), is that stupid to pick a lady like her and not investigate her mother, father, sister, brother, “ALL OF HER CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN BOYFRIENDS , GIRLFRIENDS, AND HER HUSBANDS EX’S ALSO”, then all of a sudden forget to tell the American people about her being pregnant, and you will not mention the baby’s father ’s name – Why?

I know, because it is Cindy’s (McCain wife), brother child- That’s why!!!

NOW KEEP THAT REAL !!

clint Said on

Bernard n jordan,

It does too make a difference, especially when you have the 2nd highest job in the U.S., and on top of that they would do it to Obama too!!!

And Obama is not going to just win anyways, people must get out and vote, but I feel what you are saying, ….Do you mean no one is immune from trial and tribulation????
