A Baby On Board the Republican Ticket?

(ST. PAUL, MINN.) Sept. 2, 2008 – So what’s up with John McCain’s running mate? Is there anything else she would like to share with the American people before she accepts the nomination here at the Republican National Convention?
Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin disclosed Monday that her 17-year-old, unmarried daughter is five-months pregnant. Did McCain’s search committee know about this when she was selected for the ticket. I doubt it, because they would never have thought this would remain a secret.
It’s pretty clear: McCain did not know much about Palin when he selected her to share the presidential ticket. But the pregnancy report is the second discovery in as many days raising questions about the Alaska governor’s choice as a running mate.
On Monday it was disclosed that Palin had hired an attorney to represent her and her husband in a state ethic’s probe. The investigation is underway to determine whether Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire her brother-in-law, a state trooper who was involved in a bitter divorce from Palin’s sister.
So what else is going to be uncovered about the first-term governor?
Palin and her husband Todd released a statement on Monday confirming and acknowledging their daughter’s pregnancy. “Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents,” the statement read.
They also announced the baby is due in December and that their daughter will marry the child’s father. The campaign declined to reveal the father’s full name or age, only referring to him as “Levi.”
It’s too early to tell what impact these revelations will have on the campaign, but it has to bring into question Palin policy views opposing sex education and supporting abstinence only polices.

Black Republicans????? I have always wondered how it was possible. What on earth can you say the Republican party has done for African Americans. I remember listening to the Tom Joyner morning show before the first election that Bush ran. Everything that was positive for blacks -Texas (Bush as governor) was last on the list. Everything that was against blacks -take a guess – Texas (Bush as governor) was at the top of the list. Go figure!!! So he put some puppets in his cabinet to appease the weak minded. I’m sure Powell is kicking himself in the derrier now. At least he was smart enough to get out early.

Good question and the answer is up until the 1930s’most blacks were republicans but when Roosevelt came along with the new deal many blacks got employment via the new deal. The reason why blacks were republicans is because of Abe.Lincoln.At the republican convention there is less than 2% blacks in the delegation.Most whites were democrats in the south until Johnson signed the voting and civil rights act in the 60s’ then Nixon ran his southern stategy then whites went republican.

This is not sexism…I am a black mother and I have a successful career too. However, I have not done so at the expense of my child! And yes we are talking about family values (the platform on which Sarah Palin is running). Check the stats on unwed parenthood; it ain’t a black thing any more! AND SHAME ON YOUR FOR TRYING TO USE THAT AS A HAMMER TO SHUT US DOWN! Her son going to Iraq is irrelevant because there are many young blacks in Iraq and subsequently in heaven due to the republicans. Why is it okay for Bristol Palin to have pre-marital sex and be pregnant at the age of 17 BUT when black teenagers were dominating that area it was an outrage and a disgrace to our race? And another thing; a wonderful mother does not return to work 3 days after giving birth to a down syndrome child. If Palin had such strong family values why is her daughter pregnant when Palin herself put such strong emphasis on being an evangelist, PRO-LIFE, NO SEX ED (therefore no birth control) did she forget to share those beliefs with her daughter. And is she’s such a smart woman why is there such a high number of sexually transmitted diseases in Alaska? Heeellloooo they are doing it so teach them to protect themselves. That’s a no brainer…but no Sarah Palin doesn’t approve so let the babies and STD’s run wild. Now she’s forcing the boy, Levi Johnston to marry the girl…PLEASE!! Also, Palin herself gave birth to her first child merely months after getting married. I know a shotgun when I hear it! What example is Sarah Palin setting for the young girls in the US? She’s telling them to abstain from sex (NOT), you don’t need any sex education and when you get pregnant marry the idiot. She’s telling them to put your family after your career aspirations like she does! Face it you’re just upset because people are calling a spade a spade! If it ain’t right for blacks (unwed motherhood) then it ain’t right for Palin’s daughter either! She put her child on this public stage not us. This Sarah Palin has A LOT of baggage with her and she is not right for this country. Some of her own native Alaskan’s are scared of her being the VP let alone a heartbeat away from the Presidency and they know her a lot better than we do!
Some of Sarah Palin’s latest mess:
A private attorney is authorized to spend $95,000 of state money to defend her against accusations of abuse of power.
_Palin sought pork-barrel projects for her city and state, contrary to her reformist image.
_Her husband once belonged to a fringe political group in Alaska, with some members supporting secession from the United States.
_She has acknowledged smoking marijuana in the past.
And of course, her 17-year-old daughter’s pregnancy.

right on point again!!!! That is a very interesting fact that a lot of people dont know., Most blacks were repubs….You never heard of a black being a democrat way back after the Civil War Era….The blacks at the convention look like they are lost.,,,,,did anyone notice that they would capture a black person every now and then last night, but there were so few blacks there, that they were showing the same ones over and over again…..lol!!!!! How pathetic!!!!! Not at the DNC though…..The DNC really looked like America!!!!!
McCain failed to do his homework and it will show. Palin does not have much experience she was mayor of a city with a population of 9,000 where she clashed with the police chief and fired him because he did his duty in upholding the law and would not be her “yes man” and as governor Palin fired the director of public safety because he refused to fire a state trooper who was an inlaw of her family and they had a nasty divorce. It is said by several Alaskan residents that while as mayor and governor she ruled through intimidation and retaliation. I’m for Obama all the way!! Obama wins by landslide!

I dont have anything against the Palin and her Daughter but they need to look at the situation she is not qualified.
Why the double standard? Has anyone questioned if Obamas run for office will take away from his time as a father? Sara Palin has a large family to support her and her husband is a stay at home dad now. The true colors of the left are on full display on the blogs.

Thereis no double standard,it’s all in your mind because you support Insane Mcsame.The woman claims too be a born again Christian who belives in abstinece education except for her child who was appantly excused from class too get pregnant by a redneck (his own self description).Even Obama said the daughter is off limits.What most people are talking about is the scandle(s)surounding her governance as city council woman,mayor and governor.But now that you mention it,why isn’t she caring for her son with Downs syndrome ?
Her daughter is pregnant big deal. I’m upset because this woman is degrading herself and her gender by expecting this position. The only reason McCain choice her is so that he can have access to drill for oil in the Alaskan refuge, and they don’t even know if there is any oil there for sure. They end up sending billions of dollars for nothing when this country is in need of so many other things. Sara Palin was seriously a very ignorant choice. Just because she has a pretty face, and McCain is trying to pick up female voter who said they would not vote if Hilary wasn’t in the running. She doesn’t have enough experience to run this country (let’s face McCain is not a young cat, he’s near the rear of his life expectancy) what if he dies can will really expect this (new Bush) to run our country. What a sad sad day to be a Republican!!

There is a saying that there is alot of truth in a joke.Bur seriously why would blacks vote for a person whois anti-everthing that is progressive ? A person voting against affimative action,equal pay for equal work,against MLK holiday,against aid to families with dependent children (he claims to be pro-family),against Katrina aid,etc.A vote for this man is a vote for gong back to yesteryear.

Sarah Palin tried to have her ex-brother-n-law fired from his job as a state trooper in Alaska.
It’s turned into a scandal in Alaska, and Palin is under investiation by the state for potentialy abusing her power.
I would start with the ex-brother-n-law if I wanted to know who leaked the story.
There is also another situation where she either tried to fire or fired the police chief of the town that she was mayor of because he wanted to roll back the taverns closing time from 5am to 2am because there were far too many auto accidents because of drunk driving.The owners of the taverns were fellow NRA members.McCain made a poor choice,day after day reveals scandal after scandal.
Somebody please help me understand…why would any black person vote for republicans? Is there a certain income threshold that makes you ignore what the rest of the black community is struggling with? Do you reach $250,000 and suddenly your cousins, uncles, aunts, mother living in the hood or just working class and struggling don’t matter. What is it…you have a nice portfolio, couple of time shares, decent amount of disposal income and white folks call you friend and now you are a black republican and the rest of the black community is an embarrassment who need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps? All of a sudden the same food stamps that fed you, the same section 8 that housed you and the same Medicaid card that paid your medical expenses are to be scorned upon. Your Mercedes doesn’t even go to the hood no more you just send money to your momma and them (unless you felt guilty enough to move her to the suburbs too). At what point do you cross over? Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking advantage of the opportunities that are available in America and seeking the American dream…but for various reasons some blacks don’t quite make it thru no fault of their own. What about them…that work hard every day and still struggle…may not have had the opportunities that some of us have had. What about them? Do we just say F#%k them we gone roll with the republicans cause that’s where the money is? Help me understand…this black republican thing.
