(ST. PAUL, Minn.) Sept. 4, 2008 – Republicans made history Wednesday night when they nominated the oldest first-time presidential candidate in history, 72-year-old Sen. John McCain, and their party’s first woman vice presidential candidate, 44-year-old Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Delivering her speech in the national prime-time spotlight, Palin attacked her Democratic rivals as Washington insiders, out of touch and incapable of bringing about change. Palin promised that it would be she and McCain who would bring “real change” to Washington.

The fired-up crowd at the Xcell Center repeatedly interrupted Palin with cheers and uproarious standing ovations throughout her speech.

Palin, who has a special-needs son of her own, couched her party as the one that cares about such children, understands the difficulty of parenting a child out of wedlock and what it means to keep American safe amid the threats of global terrorism.

“Victory in Iraq is finally in sight; he wants to forfeit,” Palin said of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama.

“Al-Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America; he’s worried that someone won’t read them their rights.

“Government is too big; he wants to grow it.”

The crowd ate it up.

But while the speech was relentless in its assault on Obama, it offered little in the way of what a Republican administration would do to define the difference.

Palin’s speech was one of  two highlights for the relatively lackluster convention so far. Delegates also lined up for a roll call of the states to nominate their  presidential pick Arizona senator McCain.

As Palin spoke, network cameras seemed transfixed  on the vice presidential candidate’s 17-year-old, unmarried, pregnant daughter, Bristol, who held hands with her 18-year-old boyfriend, Levi Johnson.  Johnson the self-proclaimed “red-neck” hockey player, looked tense and uncomfortable throughout the speech.

“Our family has the same ups and downs as any other, the same challenges and the same joys,” Palin said, after introducing her family.

She saved the barbs for Obama. “In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers, and then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change,” she said.

While her speech was filled with tough talk and delivered well to a friendly crowd, the next test will be her first encounter with the national press corps and her first debate with Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden.

She is great!!!

McCain-Palin 2008!!!

This lady has a great future ahead of her. She is the embodiment of a fresh Republican party that is capable to handle with the new issues of the 21st Century by empowering individuals instead of the government.

The problems in this nation are not result of the lack of government but when the federal government are overly involved in the lives of its citizens through an expanding welfare state.

Protect the life from the point of conception.

Stand for the second ammendment.

Honor and cherish our Judeo-Christian heritage.

Keep America strong.

No retreat from Iraq. Victory for our American troops.

God bless America.

God even bless Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I do not doubt their sincerity but I strongly disagree with their political philosophy of expanding the welfare state by decimating the wealthy.

McCain-Palin 2008!!!

Country First!!!

If a person is not dead thay have a future in front of them, whether it’s great or not only time will tell.As I keep repeating, religion is just that and not one avenue of faith is better than the other.Whites tried too justify slavery thru Christianity. Please define victory in Iraq.As long as America tries too impose it’s will on other nations it will be in danger. Please move foward from that bullshyt about welfare state, poverty breeds revolution and as long as jobs are being shipped onerseas there will be growth in poverty.

Patrick,

Dont talk about this woman’s christian values, when this woman, has a 17 year old daughter who was screwing a guy probably in their house, and is now pregnant, and she fired her estranged brother in law over a bitter divorce from her sister, used her position for gain!!!!

This woman does not love or care for her family, if she did, she would not have accepted the offer from John McCain when he asked her to be his running mate, Americans would not have known who Bristol Palin was or Sarah Palin, had not she accepted the offer and opened the door for the media attention….She has proven to be selfish, and put her own self interests above that of her family!!!!!

The Repubs on last night consistently danced around the issues, all down right attacks, against the Obama campaign, no surprise though, everyone was expecting that., But they could not talk about healthcare, and foreclosures, and economy and gas prices and energy, because they have no plan, their plan is to continue where Bush, their Messiah left off!!!!

The entire RNC was uneventful with the exception of Sarah Palin…she was rather amusing.

I believe that a mother can have a family and a career. However, not at the expense of the child. We are talking about family values (the platform on which Sarah Palin is running). Check the stats on unwed parenthood; it ain’t a black thing any more! AND SHAME ON YOUR FOR TRYING TO USE THAT AS A HAMMER TO SHUT US DOWN! Her son going to Iraq is irrelevant because there are many young blacks in Iraq and subsequently in heaven due to the republicans. Why is it okay for Bristol Palin to have pre-marital sex and be pregnant at the age of 17 BUT when black teenagers were dominating that area it was an outrage and a disgrace to our race? A wonderful mother does not return to work 3 days after giving birth to a down syndrome child. If Palin had such strong family values why is her daughter pregnant when Palin herself put such strong emphasis on being an evangelist, PRO-LIFE, NO SEX ED (therefore no birth control) did she forget to share those beliefs with her daughter. And if she’s such a smart woman why is there such a high number of sexually transmitted diseases in Alaska? Heeellloooo they are doing it so teach them to protect themselves. That’s a no brainer…but no Sarah Palin doesn’t approve (she’s forcing her religious beliefs onto Alaskan’s…the US will be next) so let the babies and STD’s run wild. Now she’s forcing the boy, Levi Johnston to marry the girl…PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS!! Also, Palin herself gave birth to her first child merely months after getting married. I know the sound of a shotgun when I hear it! What example is Sarah Palin setting for the young girls in the US? She’s telling them to abstain from sex (NOT GONNA HAPPEN), she’s telling them that they don’t need any sex education (purely ignorant on her part to think that will promote sex activity) and when they get pregnant further ruin their lives by becoming a teen bride. Sarah Palin’s showing them how to put your family after your career aspirations like she does! Let’s call a spade a spade! If it ain’t right for blacks (unwed motherhood) then it ain’t right for Palin’s daughter either no matter what the republicans say or how much they try to sugar coat it! She put her child on this public stage not us. This Sarah Palin has A LOT of baggage and she is not right for this country! Some of her own native Alaskan’s are scared of her being the VP let alone a heartbeat away from the Presidency and they know her a lot better than we do!
Some of Sarah Palin’s ISSUES:
A private attorney is authorized to spend $95,000 of state money to defend her against accusations of abuse of power.
Palin sought pork-barrel projects for her city and state, contrary to her reformist image.
Her husband once belonged to a fringe political group in Alaska, with some members supporting secession from the United States.
She has acknowledged smoking marijuana in the past (when it was legal in Alaska).
Vetoed bill denying benefits to gays, as unconstitutional
If legislature passed death penalty law, she would sign it” (direct contradiction to her PRO-LIFE stance)
Let parents opt out of schoolbooks they find offensive. (Religious Censorship)
Appointed an Alaska oil and gas commissioner (THE REAL REASON why McCain picked her)
Supported infamous “Bridge to Nowhere”; now criticizes it (another contradiction on her part)

Lifelong NRA member & champion of right to bear arms

Health care must be market-and business-driven (so ?#*#$ the working poor without insurance)

I watched the Sarah Palin speech and she definitely has fire. That being said I hope all those who support Obama rally around his campaign the way the Republicans are rallying around McCain/Palin. Make sure you continue to contribute financially to his campaign. Also continue to educate people on the issues and why the Republican platform is bad for America. I thought it odd that while the Republicans claim to be looking out for working class they make fun of community organizers. I don’t know about many of you but it is the community organizers in my community who are on the front line everyday fighting for working people, our kids, and our communities. Sarah Palin’s comments seemed to speak down to these people as if only elected officials get the job done.

All of that talk is fine and dandy but the real issue is that she is not quailified just because she have a son going to iraq a baby that need medical attention a pregnant daughter and trying to use her office to get her brother in law fired. if she did make office would she use her power to protect her family wrong doing or is this about the people of the United States. Is she about the fame and unholy glory that she think that she will get, you talk about a real family. where did her teaching go for her daughter she was to busy to be at home and enforce it, and if she is so concern about children welfare she would be at home giving proper care to her 4 month old baby. Can you imagine the money that the goverment would be out of for nannies security etc. Just because of a selfish woman that was ask to be vp. That selection shows us what type of decision Mccain makes. Its’ like a socker game rather than taking the people in consideration. That is not a real family she need to stay home and deal with her issues and not have the united states to foot her bill. How dare mccain and the rep. party to try and play on people emotions and intellegence. Ms. Susie homemaker need to stay at home and take care of her hus and family this office is not a reality show. Please get real.

I’m sick of the way the republicans are always trying to shove their religious and so-called moral beliefs down the throats of ALL Americans. Rich folks are some of the most immoral people on earth. I though that woman was running for VP not President? That trick Palin had the nerve to keep comparing herself to Obama. She need to be worried about what Joe Biden is gonna put on her bony ass. While I was watching that convention last night; watching all those white faces and the asinine cheering at every sentence she said (slandering Obama) reminded me of those movies where the white folks and all their family came to the town center to watch and cheer while a black person was being lynched. That was their entertainment; strange Palin’s speech had the same sick feeling.

What it all is boiling down to:

Is America prepared for a Black Man or a White woman. God forbid something to happen to McCain while in office and Palin becomes President.
or the flip side, Obama becomes President and God Forbid he leaves office, threats on his life has made it known its out there. (Praying daily for him and his family) then the country will be ran by Biden.

So America——White Woman/Black Man
Is America really ready to have a woman represent her. Especially when going to other countries who resent women in leadership. Will America loose more of her honor/strength with a woman?
