McCain Enjoys First Lead in National Poll

Sept. 8, 2008 – For the first time since Sen. Barack Obama captured the Democratic nomination his Republican challenger Sen. John McCain is leading in a national Gallup Poll, 48 percent to 45 percent.
McCain’s lead over the Illinois senator is the first time McCain has led in the poll since mid-August. The 48 percent ties his largest base among registered voters being polled since Gallup began this national poll in March.
This isn’t the first time following a party’s political convention the nominee has enjoyed a post-convention bounce. Following the Democratic convention Obama peaked with a 5 point bounce in polling. Obama remained in the lead with 49 percent to McCain’s 43 percent in the Gallup poll conducted just before the Republican convention. The serge for Obama after the Democratic convention saw McCain’s poll numbers fall to 42 percent.
McCain’s 5-point to 6-point increase following the convention so far, like Obama’s, isn’t really surprising when you look at convention poll numbers with historical expectations. According to Gallup, in the 22 major-party conventions since 1964, the nominee walked away with, on average in most years, with a 5-6 point increase in their polls.

I really don’t care about the polls just the fact and the fact is Senator Obama and Senator Biden is going to be one hell of team for all americans…..Go President Obama Go
Don’t believe the hype! Senator Obama is God’s answer to healing of the American people.
This is a wake up call to black-owned media to play less romp-shaking, non-educating, videos and focus on educating the minority community on issues of importance to them and the community as a whole. Blacks and other minorities have so few mediums to promote their causes yet when I look at the couple black-owned cable/tv network or listen to the few radio shows with black personalities, the bulk of it is focused on being funny – we have enough comedians! We need to get serious if we are to address the ills of the black communities and elect someone who is more likely to promote minority issues – black, latinos, asians, etc. Let’s inspire people to action – to become active in their communities – to register young black men and women who are more likely to spend six hours in a hair salon, but less likely to register to vote. It is easier than ever to register to vote – it is even possible to register by mail; please check out this important website and links for add’l info http://www.eac.gov/voter/Register to Vote
I encourage everyone to get involved in the process … we CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
And I understand why, I have also switched my vote from Obama to McCain/Palin. We need to face reality Obama doesn’t have a chance. Plus that Palin lady is wonderful. McCain/Palin baby. 08/12
Carlene this is one time I’ll have to agree with you. I have been a Bama follower for a while now but he does not stand on issues. He always speaks different to different people. I don’t trust him. I am defecting to Palin. She seems like she has Americas best interest at heart. Where Obama is just trying to be a celebrity.
Why dont u care about the gallup polls anymore now that McCain is leading? You liked it when Obama was leading..Now you see Obama is a loser..He can never win..Let face reality..After the GOP convention i will now vote for McCain..Go find somewhere and die Obama and Biden
Once Palin is taken off the short leash she is on and starts being interviewed by the press the bounce her and McCain have right now will evaporate like water on hot metal. Not only that, when she has too go home to Alaska and answer questions about her governance she just may get bounced off the ticket, then and only then will people see her for what she really is.Why folks are so mesmerized about her has yet too be explained.
Carlene and Bebe, you honestly believe that having a Republican in the White House 4 more years and going to help the economy. Wake the fk up and stopped being brainwashed. That woman is just a decoy just to get females that were hillary supporters to cross over. If a John McCain wins this world is coming to an end sooner than we think. Obama for President 8 years!
Carlene and Bebe…I have to agree with you on that one. I’m voting for the most experienced and the candidate that lines up with my values. Not on just the candidate that could make history.
