McCain Enjoys First Lead in National Poll

Sept. 8, 2008 – For the first time since Sen. Barack Obama captured the Democratic nomination his Republican challenger Sen. John McCain is leading in a national Gallup Poll, 48 percent to 45 percent.
McCain’s lead over the Illinois senator is the first time McCain has led in the poll since mid-August. The 48 percent ties his largest base among registered voters being polled since Gallup began this national poll in March.
This isn’t the first time following a party’s political convention the nominee has enjoyed a post-convention bounce. Following the Democratic convention Obama peaked with a 5 point bounce in polling. Obama remained in the lead with 49 percent to McCain’s 43 percent in the Gallup poll conducted just before the Republican convention. The serge for Obama after the Democratic convention saw McCain’s poll numbers fall to 42 percent.
McCain’s 5-point to 6-point increase following the convention so far, like Obama’s, isn’t really surprising when you look at convention poll numbers with historical expectations. According to Gallup, in the 22 major-party conventions since 1964, the nominee walked away with, on average in most years, with a 5-6 point increase in their polls.

Chris,
I did not watch ANY of the video because I know that Barack Obama is NOT a muslim. It’s only stubborn people like you who are clinging to that MYTH. It’s not true, he’s not MUSLIM, he’s Christian.
BLACK PEOPLE!
Listen to conservative AM talk radio when you get a chance. Jerome if you are as black as you say you are, you will notice the conservative movement has no love for you. They are mostly middle-aged white people who think liberals are complete idiots. I don’t think they care that you even exist. This twisted idea of what “being black” is, is the main reason we need a black man in office.
Also the media is not Obama’s friend. It is his tool. Let Palin have her moment. She will slip up eventually. Obama was glamorized in the spotlight so they can bring him down just as fast. They love black heroes because they are easy targets. If they can break our spirit about Obama and his message, it will send a message of “Sorry black people but we told you… you are good, but not good enough so don’t bother. Hell your own people don’t even want you”
Think about it… They are attacking Operah Winfery! If they can’t kill us, they will destroy us by media. Palin is a diversion. WAKE UP!
Only an idiot will even make such an idiotic suggestion like Obama is racist!Who in his right frame of mind believes that someone of mixed race will turn against his own DNA. Who are you selling this crap to? That is the problem when a blog is infiltrated by the Jerry Springer/Maury type of individuals.Fools who think they can disguise their republican roots by just stating that “I was for Obama now I am for Macain”,then get a few cousins to follow up with an endorsement of the statement. No one is falling for that one.You have always been republicans for Macain and Barack never had your vote Carlene and Bebe!
Obama is a bi-racial man! How can he be racist with a black father and white mother. For him to hate either side would be hating himself. Stop the ignorance PLEASE!!!
Or at least stop trying to spread it!!!
McCain looks creepy to me. He’s too old to be president and no matter who he picked I wouldn’t vote for him.
I just watched that video of Obama. I had no idea he was racist. HE JUST LOST MY VOTE. I can’t wait for mainstream media outlets to pick this video up. I can’t believe what he said in the end about white people.
Collin
Explain how Sen.Obama is racist.
Sally
What is in fact shady about Obama and elaborate what you mean by ready.Unless a person has been President then they have no experience.Lets take a look at GWB,his dad was a one term President and GWB he surrounded himself with people with executive experience, yet the U.S. is involved in the biggest blunder in history,so I ask again for you too explain shady and not ready.
I don’t need to. The video speaks for itself.
Collen
I didn’t see the video so what was said that leads you too make such a outlandish accusation ?

Sally,
YOu sound very politically uneducated., So picking Hillary would have made him ready???
You need to go sit down and really think before you start posting., How could you vote for a McCain/Palin ticket, who by the way are advocates of Bush’s Policies., when Obama’s policies would be the exact of Hillary’s??? Do you see how stupid that sounds??? You must not be a true Democrat anyways., because anybody with any sense on the brain, would know that McCain/ Palin stands for the very opposite of what Obama, and Hillary stand for!!!!!
I really want you to educate yourself, and ask yourself, Are you better off than you were eight years ago??? I will answer it for you., Hell Naw!!!!! None of us are., a McCain/ Palin ticket would adhere the same Bush policies that are on the table!!!
Obama-Biden 08
chris – i’m forwarding that video to everyone i know. i literally knocked over my coffee cup! great.
on a serious note, anyone who voted for clinton in the primary & is now planning on voting “for palin” should have their voter registration card taken away due to stupidity. HOW do you not notice that this is the cheapest, lowest pandering the right wing has pulled in years? it’d be like picking alan keyes for vp to syphon obama supporters!
I have looked at all the major news outlets including FOX and the local rightwing rag,not one of them mention anything about Sen.Obama making a racist comment under his breathe.I log on to the recommeded site and what I see is of all sites MYSPACE,another rumor mill.Unless somebody can quantify what the senator said i will chalk it up a another “527″type lie.
it amaze me, as to how some black people, think
turn off your tv read a book, learn you history
why would any black person vote republican, and women are as dumb as they come, i am voting for a women, just because she is a women, win lose or draw as a black man who have lived through the hardship of jim crow, of being left out, after being look down on, why would i vote for mccain, and a lot of people on here are really trolls and white saying they are voting for mccain because they know some black dont think for them selves
just follow the bouncing ball.
Joe Hollins,
I got some black bouncing balls for you to follow MF!
jfffnn – there is no such video. it’s a joke. not trying to spread dis-information.
Thank God Jerome is not voting. Those women were not going to vote for Obama in the first place. McCain/Palin will continue the Republican agenda. McCain knew there would be some ignorant women who would vote for Palin out of spite, they’ll be getting themselves. Palin’s politics are not the same as Hillary’s.
