Was Obama Right About Iraq?

Sept. 9, 2008 – It looks like President Bush will do just what Sen. Barack Obama has been suggesting all along: return troops home from Iraq and send more to Afghanistan.
The president is expected to lay out his final wartime command this week – to keep roughly the same number of U.S. troops in Iraq through the end of the year and bring about 8,000 troops homes over the next four months.
This plan sounds a lot like what the Democrats have been suggesting throughout the presidential campaign. Obama has long contended that more resources were needed to deploy to Afghanistan, and the only way to accomplish that would be to reduce the number of forces in Iraq.
It sounds like Bush is in agreement.
According to The Associated Press, Bush would withdraw troops in stages through early 2009. His planned withdrawal would bring soldiers home just in time for the newly elected commander-and-chief to make the next strategic wartime decisions.
The president will lay out his last major troop strategy in a speech Tuesday when addressing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to the White House, the first troops returning will be the One Marine battalion, of about 1,000 troops, scheduled to head home in November and not be replaced. They would be followed by an Army brigade of between 3,500 and 4,000 troops in February. And the last withdrawal of another 3,400 support forces would be sent home over the next several months, totaling 8,000 troops.
This isn’t a big reduction in forces, but it’s a reduction none the less. There are about 145,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.
Obama has been advocating pulling combat forces out Iraq in the first year and a half of his administration. McCain has avoided any timetable, saying he would determine troop withdrawal based on the advice of military commanders.
This latest move by Bush could signal that he agrees with Obama more than with McCain. Go figure.

Well, Palin could always go a preach to the federal employees. I’m sure that would make it all ok with the republicans. gotta love them republican family values.
Watch McCain/Palin spin this nasty mess to their advantage while half the country conveniently forgets that McCain has been complicit in the Bush admin’s actions all along and Palin is neck-deep in the oil industry.

Isn’t McCain running on Christian family values platform? him and his trophy VP? Obama is a Christian and you are a great example of how the public school system is failing american children.
Bush might agree with Obama’s position but I think he is trying to salvage whatever legacy he can. Obama was correct on Iraq. Paying the insurgents money contributed greatly to the success of the surge.

A true Christian would never denounce Jesus…but the scripture also say’s to “use wisdom in all that you do” therefore; Obama is not going to go preaching into the streets while he’s running for President; that’s not wise. Obama’s religious preference is that he is a CHRISTIAN. That’s not something that you can put on and off like a coat. No matter how many times ignorant people keep repeating a lie…it’s still a lie. Obama has said that he is over and over and he carries himself in that manner. That Muslim rumor is just a myth that was created by ignorant people because of his birth name. We don’t choose our birth names, our places of birth nor our parents (or their religious beliefs). And as a Christian I know that only GOD knows where a person’s faith lies. Unless your true name is GOD then you have an awful lot of nerve judging Senator Obama’s true faith. Anybody that truly has a personal relationship with GOD would know this. You don’t have a heaven or hell to put anybody in…so you surely aren’t qualified to determine another person’s faith!
