McCain Calls to Postpone the First Presidential Debate

Sept. 24, 2008 – Republican nominee Sen. John McCain has decided to suspend his campaign and return to Washington to give his full attention to the economy.  He’s also calling for the first presidential debate scheduled for Friday to be postponed.

What’s all this about.

Just a week before the financial crisis became the hot button issue.  McCain was still touting the “fundamental strength” of the U.S. economy. But since President Bush’s plea for Congress to work on a bailout, and Secretary of the Treasurer Henry Paulson’s call for $700 billion to  make it happen, McCain now admits there is a crisis in the economy.

McCain Democratic challenger Sen. Barack Obama, has been talking about the economic problems for  a while.  He told folks today in Clearwater, Fla., he thinks the debate should proceed as scheduled.  Saying it was “more important than ever” for voters to hear from both candidates during the economic crisis.

I bet the American people would agree. It’s true the first debate at the University of Mississippi was to focus on foreign policy, but why postpone the event.  McCain’s campaign could have asked the organizers to switch the topic to domestic policy and tackle both concerns in one fell swoop.

“It’s my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess,” Obama told reporters on Wednesday.  “It is going to be part of the president’s job to deal with more than one thing at once.”

Obama has a point, McCain has touted his experience and longevity in Washington,  so what will he accomplish with  in a few extra days in the nations capitol?

It makes you wonder why he wants to postpone the debate.

ALL OF YOU who complain that whites wont vote for obama are hypocrites.. if anything, it was blacks who would not support obama untill he won the iowa cacus… !!stop playing the pity violin its strings are well worn…have so many of you suddenly and convienently forgotten your loyalty to HILLARY CLINTON , including the former owner of BET . i keep saying this and its true, if barack obama was brought up within the black american community he would not be where he is today.. its because he was brought up with the mindset of the typical immigrant.. because he has that “can do” attitude, because he has the type of exposure that blacks dont have.. ( being brought up exposed to different cultures )his attitude is different to say the jessie jacksons or the al sharptons who would NEVER , EVER attract any votes outside the black american community because they are so confrontational..if you set yourself to be the leader of a NATION as a democrat you cannot be engaged in special interest groups or sectional politics.. white america has got behind obama because THEY BELIEVE IN WHAT HE STANDS FOR : CHANGE.. not because of the colour of his skin,, if that was the case, hillary clinton should be the next nominee not obama..

I commend you for speaking out. I have been lambasted here for asking those same questions. We have got to know what our candidates REALLY stand for and not rely on the media to feed us only what our ears want to hear.

EA:

You are young and immature to think that you know why ALL black people are voting for Obama. You are a disgrace to your own race that you don’t give black people any credit for having brains enough to decide who we want to vote for and why. We are not stupid. Obama is NOT a messiah or a magician…he can’t wave a magic wand and fix all of our issues. Shame on you for even posting such stupid SHYT!!!

TO ALL THE HATERS WHO DON’T LIKE THE FACT THAT “SOME” BLACK PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE’S BLACK:

THIS IS STILL AMERICA AND WE DON’T HAVE TO EXPLAIN OR JUSTIFY OUR VOTE TO ANYONE. YOU JUST HATE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN’T CONTROL THAT ASPECT OF OUR LIVES TOO!!!

PHUCK ALL YOU HATERS!!!
VOTE OBAMA 08!!!

EA Said on

Victor,
Just as I expected someone to belittle me, accusing me of being immature, and oh yes, my favorite part… I’m a disgrace to my own race for having my own thoughts and disagreements with black people. Oh, by the way I’m 35 years old, a Dartmouth grad, and a small business owner who stands to gain a $35,000 tax increase if Obama gets into office and puts his tax plan in place…But after all I am a disgrace to my own race even though I have given hundreds of thousands of dollars, and hundreds of hours back into my community to make it a better place so someone else can also get the education I got, fulfill their dream, then express their mind and then be called a disgrace. I’m such a horrible person!

red n black, and Darren

My point is that blacks have voted for white candidates all of their voting lives, now that a candidate has come along that so happens to be black, and is more qualified than those of white descent, blacks are somehow supposed to feel guilty because they are voting for a black man!!!!! Please!!!!!

clint Said on

And at the end of the day red n black, you have your white racist hilary supporters, that are not going to vote for Obama simply because he was black…… But you cannot truly say that if Hilary had won, because the majority of blacks would rather see a democrat in office than a republican, if they didnt then they are dumb as hell!!!!

Clint
Blacks don’t always vote for Black politicians,Blackwell,Keyes,Steele, and Swann are four examples. Why is it Blacks are racist when we choose too vote for a Black person yet everything is all well and good when Whites vote for White politicians ? I detect a double standard.

Victor Said on

EA,

Very impressive…now pat yourself on the back. Your not the only successful black person so don’t get your head too pumped up. I am a college professor; there are educators and business owners in my family. Now that being said…you’re even more of a disgrace because you are a successful black and have the gall to tell other black people to “please get educated on the issues”. Why can’t you understand that blacks are EDUCATED AND HAVE STILL CHOSEN OBAMA? Have you questioned all the white people about who they are voting for and why and come to any valid conclusions?

clint Said on

jfffnn,

And that’s my point, we as blacks never question when whites only vote for whites, but now it’s all of sudden a big thing, and its all over talk radio…..

And too I bet you those same people would think if someone like Dr. Condi Rice, or Colin Powell would run that all black people would be that dumb to vote for black republicans if the people are indeed democrats just because they are black…..

i dont know BET family.. i tend to tread lightly
on this reverse racism ideal. now i agree with the Obama t-shirt buisness.i mean their dope shirts and all. but if you’re of voting age and youre sporting one of these shirts and youre still unregistered;then you havent been paying attention. on the other hand it is an exciting moment in history.a potential black president? it gives up from slavery a whole new slant..and plus Obama is the only presidential candidate who excites the people with the possibility
of real unity..i’ll be the first to admit that
i dont know all the points and counte points of politics. i take things from a human nature slant
then proceed from there.but make no mistake who ever
winds up in the oval office, i have no delusions that no one but me {Darryl} is gonna make the ultimate change for my immediate surroundings. no one is gonna get up in the morning and exercise for me, work my job ,clean my house, wash my clothes, get my finances in order or decide whats
best for me BUT ME.Sen.Obama said it best “its always been about you” which is one of the main reasons why i support the brother.maybe this campaign will get those of us in the community
to be more active in our civic responsibilities.matter of fact i believe this is whats taking place at this time in history.
and its a wonderous thing. the ancestors are indeed smiling, dancing and sing uproariously

The why he tried to postpone the debate was because he knew he was not prepared to face OBAMA in the discussion of important issues(which wouldn’t happen even if he brought his A Game) and i know that for a fact because of the way he was switching up OBAMA’s words…trying to make him look stupid but it did not go over……NOVEMBER 4th IT GOING DOWN……Vote or Die.
