Jan. 21, 2009 – “Day No. 1” has arrived for President Barack Obama and he’s not waiting around to get started.  On Tuesday night as Americans watched the first couple navigate 10 Inaugural Balls, a dozen or more members of Obama’s White House staff filed into Pennsylvania Avenue to get ready for what’s in store.

Today will be the president’s first full day in office and will begin the count of his first 100 days.  However, Obama managed to add official business to the ceremonial day as well. He announced the White House would halt the Guantanamo Bay war crimes trials; his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel signed an order halting President George Bush’s last-minute regulations; and he formally nominated seven Cabinet secretaries who were approved by the Senate by acclimation.

Later today Obama will meet with advisors while staff concentrates on setting up computers, phones lines and e-mail for everyone.  The first press briefing hasn’t been firmly scheduled, but should take place mid-day on Wednesday according press secretary Robert Gibbs.

I’ll be at the White House all afternoon and will update you on the happening on day one.  The White House Webpage is already up and running.

The elegance of Michelle Obama, the distingué of President Barack Obama filled me up with overwhelming pride. The sacrifice the first family made for us to embark on this journey cried out to all our ancestors, “Yes We Did!”

I look back on the two year climb to this wondrous day on January 20, 2009, and can’t help but express a sigh of relief. A relief for our ancestors that peace has finally reached their resting place, no more frustration of injustice to a people who despite all odds shined.

I say this to all people! Today is a new chapter in history for us to write and thanks to our President we can now turn the page with dignity and respect. It is up to us to ensure the new story embodies all the good qualities that we have always knew existed in our people. On the shoulders of our ancestors President Obama has extended the potential that all of us instill in ourselves. Men, be the great leaders that I know you can be. Look your child (ren) in the eye and say, “You are not alone I am right here.” Women! the strong pride that you have within yourself extend that love to your good man and make it a family like our First family.

In memory of those who suffered to make our lives better. We are deeply indebted.

Its a great day in the USA. I look foward to many more. I know that things may get worse before they get better, but thngs have already gotten worse. We as a people are use to worse. We have been there and done that. So every day with a black man, that has intergrty, wisdom and the abilty to make a difference in the White House is a great day. Because through history the first black of anything all ways made a path for others. So black people be Joyful.

Congratulations President Obama for taking the moral highground and signing the papers 4 the closure of Guantanamo Bay. I’m sure you will continue with the corrections……..

It has been 89 days sence the first black president has been in office. I have come to the conclution that the only day that I realized that he was a black man was on the innuagaration day. Sence then it had not accured to me or have I noticed his color. At first I thought I was forgetting my people or something. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I elected the best MAN for the job at that time. On the next election and everyone after that I will do the same. As a grade for the first 89 days I give president Obahma a (A). I have to say he has worked hard for us in more ways than one. So black people if you notice the first family and you see them as black, Take a secound look at them you will notice that they are just the first family. They were black just for a day.
