Business Leaders Warming Up to Obama’s Economic Plan?

Jan. 28, 2009 – Business as usual for the commander-in-chief at the White House this morning, but the first daughters were enjoying their first “snow day” something foreign to natives of Chicago.
Just before the president began his closed door meeting with a group of corporate CEO’s to tout his economic stimulus plan, the president commented, “My children’s school was canceled today, because of what, some ice,” he asked. Everyone started laughing.
But today’s message on the economy was no laughing matter. The president spoke with about 50 business leaders in the East Room asking them to support his stimulus package and be his partners in getting it through congress. Included among those business leaders was BET’s President and CEO Debra Lee.
Obama said, “These executives also understand that without wise leadership in Washington, even the best-run businesses cannot do as well as they might. They understand that what makes an idea sound is not whether it’s Democratic or Republican, but whether it makes good economic sense.”
Two corporate leaders already on board are Sam Palmisano, CEO and president of IBM and David M. Cote, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell International, both gave their ringing endorsements.
Cote told the those gathered, “We’re very supportive of the reinvestment act,” and would like to see more reinvestment in the sciences. “We need to make math and science cool again,” he said.
Palmisano agreed, praising Obama’s “energy” for reform. The president has “unanimous support” for projects that create jobs, Palmisano said.
Obama made it clear who he’ll hold responsible for a failed economic turnaround, “In the end, the answer to our economic troubles rest less in my hands, or in the hands of our legislators, than it does with America’s workers and the businesses that employ them. They are the ones whose efforts and ideas will determine our economic destiny, just as they always have,” he warned.

Olounwa and descants need to join the rest of us in the real world where racism is still an every day thing. President Obama can not create racial equality for all so some of us are just keeping it real while we work on our careers, businesses and education for our families despite racism. But It is what it is.
americans dont live in the real world.. they are isolated and unaware of what goes on outside their country..that is a fact so please enough of all that bs mary .. coming from the world that does not expect to be given a free pass and expects to work for what they have.. no. if obama can do it what is the problem for the rest of you apart from your attidute?.obama has proved that there is no glass ceiling that cannot be broken in america so now.. aa’s have no race card to pull anymore when it comes to achievement..
Americans do live in the real world and are not isolated from it. Americans could not be isolated if they wanted too. America is the most watched country on the planet you would have to be very dum not to know that. Racism is high in Europe, when Obama said this could only happen in the US he was telling the truth, because Europeans would not have a black president of prime minister of their country, but they want a black president for America. When was the last time you saw a black person in the house of lords debating, never. I wish BET would get off of this kiss Obama’s butt agenda. We should be talking about the stimulus package, and whats in it , because I do not think Obama knew what Pelosi put in this package. He thinks Pelosi is there to help him but if he trusts her she will make him look like he has no cue whats going on. I do not see where BET covered the nominate of Timothy Geithner for teasury secretary a man who owes 34, 000 dollars back taxes in charge of the IRS, some say its okay, but let you owe 2,000 back taxes and see how long it takes for you to go to jail. This stimulus package is designed to keep black people on welfare and not wanting anything else. BET does not give it’s readers the news it should read, things we should know. I agree with Olounwa’s comment, white people took away the race card by putting Obama in office. This is a natural question, why would so many whites, the media, and europeans fall all over this black man? Yes he can speak but words are just that in the long run. Thirty years age when hard times hit blacks, we would come together and help one another, those times are gone, because all the real men have died or have moved from our communities to protect their families. We are left with drug dealers, theives, and murders. I hope it does not become like the Congo are other parts of Africa. Pamela stop kissing Obama’s butt and do your job, but maybe that is your job.
