Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announces she will step down.

By Pamela Gentry, Senior Political Analyst
July 6, 2009 – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin set off her own fireworks for the Fourth of July weekend with her announcement she would be stepping down as governor, 18 months before the end of her term.

Speculation on why Palin decided to leave office has varied . She wasn’t really clear in her announcement Friday.  The often-rambling remarks pointed to several reasons, all required interpretation:

1) She was quitting politics entirely to spend more time with family; she also implied she could be just as effective outside of government.

2) She has her eye on higher office; possibility running for president in 2012.

3) She wanted to protect Alaska’s fiscal stability and avoid the cost of numerous investigations into  alleged ethics violations.

All or none of these could be the real reason Palin is ditching her day job.

  She has  kept a pretty low profile since her announcement but promised her supporters she would keep them in the loop via Facebook and Twitter.  On Saturday Palin’s posting on Facebook appeared to indicate that she would seek a larger, national role — citing what she said was a “higher calling” to push for conservative causes nationally.

It appears she has decided to develop a fan base through social networking sites. This would also give her a list of folks to call on later for donations and to pull grassroots support.

My guess is Palin has had enough of moose hunting, consignment shopping in Wasilla and falling oil prices at home and has her eye on Washington.  This resignation was the first step in her plan to get the ball rolling.

Some think she’s made the wrong move -  but only time will tell.  It will be interesting to see if she can hold the national spotlight without holding the elected office that brought her national notoriety and a spot on the Republican presidential ticket in 2008.

Some Alaskans felt Palin’s heart hasn’t been in the job since she returned from the presidential campaign. That could be a reason as well.

Political pundits including myself can only guess why Palin decided to call it quits.  But one thing’s for sure: She has left the GOP perplexed and provided a lot of water cooler prognosticators.

Do you think Palin would be able to beat President Obama in 2012?

NO I DON’T THINK SHE’LL WIN! BUT, I SURELY DO THINK SHE WILL TRY TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2012. I THINK SHE NEEDS TO JUST SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE AND TAKE CARE OF HER KIDS.

as far as her quiting her job I have two speculations,1) there may be a scandle on the horizon.2) She may be going crazy as many people have said. Or it could be both; who knows,only time will tell In any cause I’m glad because I don’t like her politics and can’t stand her voice.Where is Tina Fey when all that is happening?the case would bring her the chance to spoof her like she did on Saturday Night Live.

I’m sorry that this lady can’t take defeat and let go. Hell no there is no way that she can beat our PRESIDENT. If she could’ve she would be Vice President and not stepping down from Govenor.

What comes to mind first is how she talked about her experience as a Governor and the fact that she was only person in that last election that had Judicial experience by quitting she has just made that point void. The first time she says anything about being the former Governor of Alaska it will be not that she was also a quitter

Reads this story, and we applaud Judith smart, more Brown’s brave cheer. He has withstood numerous wars, the experience is a special battle, a war more than a chi flat iron severe test. In his hand before, certainly after a fierce inner struggle: “son of the hands of bailiffs, with the sub-old.” Approached with identification, to reach out and go, means that the lifetime and the ugly and the woman living with disabilities, there is no beauty, there is no romantic, and even they would be busy running probably want to take care of her life; if not approached with recognition, have a lot of choice. And apart from each other, no one knows their story. He can say that they did not travel to attend the appointment, he can say that they delayed the chi hair straightener time to meet and so on, in a word, he could have 100 reasons for not immediately identify with. His own conditions, he can certainly select a person than the ugly girl marry wins.

@Bama,

Have you been living under a rock or are you just plain stupid. The USA has already been destroyed by your good old boy GEORGE W. BUSH…Now President Obama has to correct what he F*****UP!!!!!

@FC,
I think you are a shining example of how misinformed black people are. You do not want to be educated about Obama. Obama has put us in more debt in the last six months than any president in histroy and he wants us in more debt. Under this president we are in very bad shape, but you just want to sit and chap in the Obama church and say he knows what he is doing. If he gets this cap and trade bill pasted black america will know what he is doing when the power bill comes around.

Which is it,either President Obama will destroy the U.S. or will he lose to Palin ? It’s either one or the other.
