President Heads to Mexico

Aug. 10, 2009 – President Obama arrived in Mexico Sunday to begin a three-way summit with North American leaders from neighboring Canada and Mexico. But before leaving the U.S. the president warned Americans not to believe “rumors” being circulated about health care reform.
“Let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, or cut Medicaid, or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true,” Obama said in his weekly address.
Members of the Senate will join House members back home this week to answer questions and take the temperature of their constituents on the issue. Some town hall meetings have been met with protestors and there is some suspicion that these protests are being waged with the help of lobbyists hoping to defeat the bill.
It’s not a far-reaching assumption. Most town hall meetings are for questions and answers – so the fact that people want to protest outside before even going inside is a bit curious. What could be wrong with asking questions?
Obama didn’t call out who was behind what he suggested were “organized efforts” to demonize the White House-backed health reform plans. He suggested that the efforts were originating in the capital.
The president also warned Americans of what to expect as efforts continue. “As we draw close to finalizing — and passing — real health insurance reform, the defenders of the status quo and political point-scorers in Washington are growing fiercer in their opposition.
“That is why it is important, especially now, as senators and representatives head home and meet with their constituents, for you, the American people, to have all the fact,” Obama said.
While Congress heads home, the commander-in-chief headed south of the boarder for meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon for talks on issues impacting the Americas.

This is the president’s second trip to Mexico in four months; you may recall his last visit was during the worldwide outbreak of the H1N1 virus (swine flu).
Calderon and Obama held their first meeting on Sunday. They discussed the swine flu, the request for aid to combat Mexican drug-trafficking and Mexico’s growing concerns regarding the ban on Mexican trucks north of the boarder.
Trade (NAFTA) will also be an issue when Harper joins the talks. Canadian officials are concerned with the language in the stimulus bill that encouraged “Buy American” when spending from the $787 billion economic stimulus program. Canadian companies fear this could send the wrong signal and shut Canadian companies out. That alone could place stress on trade relations between the U.S. and Canada.
Obama and Congress have a busy week ahead.
I pray that the Lord cover our President as he attempt to stabilize the economy.
If you think that health care is expensive today, just wait until it is “free.” Who is going to pay for those free abortions along with tyhe health care of the illegal immigrants. If Mexico is foolish enough to be seduced by the idea of having their first black presidente, I’d be happy to trade leaders. Electing Obama was the biggest mistake made by American voters.
The destiny of America is in the hands of Blacks and Hispanics.
Together we were meant to be brothers and sisters.
We have claimed our power and we will run with it.

PJ it’s sad that you feel that way. Maybe you should try a little history lesson and research our former president — Bush and you’ll see how, when and why we are in this mess. Our health care mess did not start with Obamas presidency (8months). I hope you feel the same about all the former presidents and not just President Obama.
PS. electing President Obama was the BEST thing to happen to this country and world. Be prepared for another 4 years.

HAPPEN. WE ALREADY HAVE A FEDERALLY FUNDED HEALTH SYSTEM IN
THE FORM OF MEDICARE AND MEDICAID AND CONGRESS KNOWS THAT. THE PROBLEM IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY COULD HAVE MADE
CHANGES IN THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM BUT THESE ARE PEOPLE
WHO FUNDED THEM. I AM QUITE SURE ALL OF THEIR FAMILIES ARE NOT IN POSITION TO PAY FOR HEALTHCARE NOR DID SOME OF THEM
HAVE IT BEFORE THEY STARTED EARNING MONEY. WHAT I FINE INTERESTING IS SOME PEOPLE REALLY FORGET THAT WE ALL PAY FOR
HEALTH CARE NO MATTER WHAT. THEY CAN BE DENIED CARE EVEN WITH COVERAGE AND THAT IS TRUE WITH SOME HMOS. THE AMERICAN

OF DOLLARS AND QUIT VOTING FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T RESPECT

LADY IN MY STATE HAD HEATH INSURANCE BUT NOT THE DEDUCTIBLE
OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS WAS TURNED AWAY AND WAS TOLD TO COME BACK WHEN SHE GOT IT. SHE NEVER RETURNED TO THAT ONE.
WENT TO ANOTHER AND DIED BEFORE SHE COULD RECEIVE THE
HELP AND THE OTHER TWO HOSPITALS BOTH DENIED IT. THE MOTHER
MADE A STATEMENT TO THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER WHAT THEY HAD DONE. SO IF YOU THINK BECAUSE YOU HAVE INSURANCE YOU ARE SAFE THINK AGAIN. THE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER IS IN CHARGE NOT
YOU, YOU ARE ONLY THE PAYEE.
When Clinton wanted to get the same Plan for health care people was not this outrage, but as soon a a Black Man become President everyone wants to give him a hard time, and as for Sarah Palin she is a sore loser and need to move on the better person won so go on and get a job and do something with yourself open a day care between you and her daughter she have enough kids. And for them saying medicaid will be effort don’t get bamdozzle that is what they want people to believe. Obama will get 4 more years and it will really be on.

I am of the opinion that all the acrimony and bickering about black and white has to stop. It is about time people sit back, listen, and consider what kind of future and legacy they want to leave for their childrend and granschildren. Obama’s quest to obtain a a better healthcare for all Americans is an act that is long overdue and the sooner we get behind him; the better it would be for all concerned.

the reason why some black people understand we cannot sit back and let things happen, is because we have lost our trust in the President and congress. The congress spending 550 million dollars on jets to fly them around, Obama siging a stimulus bill he has not read. Wanting to push though a healthcare bill he cannot explain without dealing with illegal immigration. This is basic management stuff. Obama and congress do not care because they live so far above regular people.
