A War of Words and Opinions

Oct. 19, 2009 – This latest war of words between Fox News and the Obama White House in my view is a no-win situation; Fox News is never going to do positive stories about the administration and the administration can’t waste time battling a 24-hour cable news network.
But it seems things heated up last week when President Barack Obama’s communications director, Anita Dunn, told CNN that Fox was viewed by the administration as “a wing of the Republican Party.”
Anita Dunn’s words apparently set off what followed over the weekend with Fox News Channel calling foul and White House staff not backing down.
Every political junkie will tell you they watch all the cable news channels to “keep up” and usually admit they check out Fox News to get the Republican spin and “opinion” on the issue of the day. Fox’s stock and trade is anti-Obama stories and dissing most Democrats and their policies, so I’m not sure why they care what the White House says.
Dunn said the administration isn’t cutting the network out – they just deal with them knowing they have a predisposed perspective. Dunn said, Obama “has appeared on Fox shows in the past (and) he certainly will appear on them in the future.”
One of Obama’s top advisers, David Axelrod, restated on ABC’s “This Week” that administration officials will appear on Fox even as he reiterated that the network should not be treated as a news organization. Ouch!
According to The Associated Press, Fox network executive Michael Clemente said it was “astounding” that administration critics couldn’t distinguish between news and opinion programming. “It seems self-serving on their part,” he said.
“The administration was being attacked, members of this administration were being attacked, policies of this administration were being misrepresented — and that’s a generous interpretation of how they were being described,” Dunn said. “The reality is that at some point, the administration has to defend itself.”
It’s doubtful this will be ending soon, but it should. I say let’s get back to health care reform.
What do you think, are you a Fox News viewer?

I use to watch Fox right until Obama won the democratic nomnation because Fox were just asking dumb questions like who is bill ayers and who is the real barack obama and what is acron….they never attacked his policies they were just a big propaganda machine for the right wing…and i have no problem with Fox having opinionated shows but most of there opinions are not based off facts…they go on whatever “facts” Fox have selected for the day….just look at Glenn Beck…the spends his wholllllllleeeeeeeee entire show Obama bashing…..it gets pretty boring…and it doesnt matter if it is an opinion show or not…its still suppose to be NEWS!!…and that doesnt apply to Fox anymore…they may be the highest rated cable news show (im not included) but im pretty sure most of their viewers are under educated people who beleive anything that channel airs….
I too feel that FOX news bashes Obama and the adminstration every chance they get and the news caster are so opionated it makes me turn the channel to other news channels. Have of the time they do not air anything positive that Obama is doing but the minute they feel he has made a mistake and or done something that they do not like they will run it at every hour to get their point across.
I Think Someone In President Obama , Administration , Should Defend The Administration , and Still Focus On Health Care Reform , Multi-Task ! We Know That These Liars Are a Distraction , But President Obama , Needs a Point Man , For These Distractions . Fox Is a Wing Of The Republican Party and They Are Liars. If People Keep Hearing Lies Then They Begin To Believe Them . Probably Because They Want To Believe Them . Peace & Blessings , Power To The People !
I am not a fan of fox news they are a bunch of racist people. i hope they take glen beck and hannity off the air. im tuned in to msnbc all day everyday.they should take that lou dobbs man off cnn to.
Obamas “War on Truth” reminds me of Nixon.

This is the first time any President has waged a war on a news channel…….these are very scary times indeed.

You stated “this is the first time any President waged a war on a news channel”. That is not true,President Johnson was always at war with CBS and Walter Cronkite.Richard Nixon hated Dan Rather and George H.W. Bush and his son,Goerge W. Bush were constantly critical of the NYtimes. These examples may be a little different but Presidents attacking media outlets is nothing new.
Anybody can see that FOX is not news,it is “wrongwing” opinionated hacks for the Confederate Party. They are not “fair and balanced”when they always try to bash President Obama.
I’m more interested in trying to understand why BET founder
Sheila Jackson, a professed Democrat (really?) is supporting a right wing nut job in the Virginia governor’s race. She’s even lending her
support in commercials. Bob McDonnell’s legislative history is filled with
bigotry and intolerance towards many minority groups and it is shocking to see a successful black woman supporting a white man who wants “to keep women in their place.” Actually, those commercials are sort of embarrassing. Maybe she should just take Steele’s place in leading the GOP.
F*** FOX NEWS…The hell with those A**HOLES!!!!!
I’m very disappointed in the USA. This does not include everyone, just the hatersof the President of the U. S. and how the country is divided over issues that needs repairing to benefit its citizens.
If, the people are for this country and keeping its the intregity true to the U. S. Constitution then whoever is chosen by the people to become the leader of the free world should be supported by all citizens of it’s country.
I served in the U. S. Navy for 24 years and the leadership in the military varies due to assigned leadership. The chosen leader may not be popular by demand, but the military law and regulations are followed to the letter and the leader respected.
Speaking of haters. I believe Sean Hannity have nightmares when he sleep at night. Just to mention President Obama have him tossing and turning. Glenn Beck is a train wreck waiting to happen.
Fox News have no love and respect for President Obama and the Obama Administration and they make it well known!!!
