    How are you Ms. Gentry.

I just read your political blog today, and was very much impressed by it. I am new to the world of blogging but would like some feedback or advice on how to improve my political blog.

dear Pamela ,what is up with little or no participation when it comes to politics???? am i to believe more care about who’s album is dropping than what WILL effect them ???? politics i mean. I thoroughly enjoy checking on comments made and replying. where is everybody???? this is one of the few sites i blog because i am interested in where black people are on these issues not to just agree or disagree but just to see why in the answers whether thought is involved or just plain same old opinions expected.I am here to challenge old ideals ,excuses and thoughts and create dialog not indifference towards any, where is everyone???dont they care???further more i also want to challenge thoughts on who we elect and why.where are they Ms.Gentry???

I find myself asking the same question. Before we used this blogging tool we had a “discuss now” option for users and they commented daily. I’m hoping once they learn how to use this tool they will respond and provide feedback. We offer a point of view on BET that isn’t seen on other websites - I think they will come to appreciate it once they sign on. Thanks for your participation.

Hello, I recently receive an email on the JENA 6. It was really upsetting. It’s about 6 black teens who were expelled from school, arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder. This happen last fall in Jena,Louisiana. There’s alot to this story and this is a story that needs to be heard. The website is http://www.colorofchange.org/jena/?id=2019-228436.
Please take a look at this site and hopefully bring this situation the media attention it needs. One of the 6 has already been sentenced, Please take the time and look into it.
It’s a story that reads like one from the Jim Crow era.
    Thanks for your time

Shame on you for making a politcal thing of Ted Nugent into a racist story witch is not true. Get your facts right.

    Vincent,
If you read carefully I did not. I simply asked the question if a rapper had pointed guns on state and talked in threating manner toward a political figure what would the response have been? Pamela

I just heard about Jena 6 a few days ago and my heart goes out to these young men. I have a story to tell about myself. I am originally from Texas, but my husband and I was transferred to Elizabeth City. NC in 1996. I have never been in any trouble until I moved to NC. I was charged and convicted of a misdemeanor in April of 1999. the judges and district attorneys did not acknowledge
my evidence. the women who accused me lied and changed their testimony.the jury was all white except 2 blacks. I was treated horrible and I have not been able to get decent jobs. I went to see a attorney on 9/17/07 and he told me that this misdemeanor will stay on my record for the rest of my life. I am 50 years old now. All of this has me very depressed and crying all the time. My hope for the future is hopeless now. I tried to contact Oprah Winfrey when this happened many years ago, but i did not get any feedback. I wish someone like Bet or Oprah will take time and hear my story because it will astonish the whole world. I am truly happy for those young men getting support from so many wonderful people, but I wish someone will listen to my story and help me. Please hear my story because it is not just happening in Jena, it is all over the world. If you do not believe that, just hear my Story. Sincerely Rose H. Eakins Crying out in North Carolina. My home phone number is 252-338-6108.
Please BET, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and Reverend Al Sharpton and whoever else will hear me out. September 20,2007

    Hi There,

Keep up the good PR . The Democrats are doing a good job of posturing themselves not to win the White House in 2008. I am one biscotti who prays that they do not win. They are not able to lead our country. Their far far left agenda is not middle America’s cup of coffee.

You are very pretty Have you ever heard of Republican Larry Elder? He is heard on KABC radio and seen on Fox.

    Have a wonderful day,
    Rie

  20. Robert Emanuel on December 7th, 2007

Good morning. I’m not sure if you caught a hold of this story however it has been covered by local news media and even the White House has been given the story. It’s one of those incredible underdog stories that is perfect for the holiday season.

About half a year ago and with 43 cents in his pocket, Robert Emanuel set out to do what no municipality in the Tulsa area has been able to do even after ten years of trying. That is to provide public transportation for the 49,000 people living in the suburbs of Tulsa. The City Councils of the cities of Bixby, Leonard and other areas could not come up with the money nor reach an agreement that would satisfy all of those involved. Robert, a poor African American man living in a trailer home with a wife and three children proposed privatizing the venture, making it non-profit and receiving donations from local businesses. It was immediately rejected and every door shut. But after consistent knocking and petitioning, the local news paper, The Bixby Bulletin, picked up the story and the public demanded a hearing. Robert went to the City Council with 43 cents in photo copies and walked away with a unanimous vote on a resolution to use the City Streets to operate his bus line. Before long an independent survey showed about a 92% support base from the citizens. Local businesses however did not give financially to the project; so Robert went to Oklahoma City, and petitioned the State Transportation Board for the funds. He was rejected but kept at it and soon found himself in Ken LaRue’s office, the Transportation Director. “This is not normal. We only deal with City Governments and other government tied companies. Your’s is private. This is unusual.” Mr. LaRue went on to say, “if you’re non-profit, can’t you raise the money yourself? It would be better for all involved. The State Treasurer has gotten wind of this and we all applaud your efforts… is there anyone?” Robert told Ken that businesses and private citizens were watching to see if he would fail or succeed in Oklahoma City. Media coverage could in effect bring in the money, but there wasn’t enough coverage at the time. Ken shook his head and wondered how the business could operate in the black when, in his 23 years of experience, he has never seen it happen. But Robert continued and showed that a private company could operate in the black, unlike any other bus company in the State and provide better service. The meeting ended with Mr. LaRue wishing Robert the best and that he would pass the request onto his supervisor… something never done before.

Robert’s wish is to give a gift to the City of Bixby and the town surrounding it, a holiday gift that would last long past his life time. To do that he would simply need… exposure…

    Dear Pamela J. Gentry,

I am so honored to be able to be on your site.

I myself, was fortunate to recently go to Washington D.C. for a reunion for http://www.peacechild.org and the international community.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you are so professional in your position with BET and Washington that you and BET have been such an example of peace as to invite Hillary Rodham Clinton on T.V.

    MLK would be proud!:)

In addition… thank you for promoting WOMAN IN POLITICS.

It is very impressive to know that you are the senior political producer for BET News.
I thank God you joined BET in 2002 as the Washington bureau chief responsible for coverage of Capitol Hill. I appreciate your impact on the African-American community for all humankind and the world. Please take the time out of your busy schedule to look up this particular website. Hi Pamela, I enjoyed reading your latest article, but was surprised that you don’t use spell-check before submitting your writings.

I’m sure many people would see my opinion as petty. My concern is for those who actually read for the sake of knowledge.

I’m by no means a writer, and I truly appreciate your talent and skill, so I hope this is taken in a positive way. ;-)

A few of the misspellings and inaccuracies in the article about the Democratic Presidential Debate are as follows:

    -spared should be spelled sparred
    -quit should be spelled quite
-overreacting has no space between over and reacting
    -committee should be commit
-in-action should be spelled as a whole word
-contest, in the second-to-last paragraph, should be plural (contests)

Phase two: Nation time - we’re taking it to the neighbors.

We never let it down. Seeing factual evidence that a serious problem exist in this society. The inability to fathom our own issues in American life. Communication error is a nomally of individual intent. That makes us equal on the plain of exchange. Or it makes us aliens hung on the line. Communications improvement takes time. It means these serious issues with the number of character shots we keep hearing is unending. This indicates a need to hold the public in limbo over hipocracy over criticism that our apponent is guilty of. Calling it stuck on stupid is not so far fetched that people can still hear the Clinton’s accusations of plagurism. Because in reality it is true. Hillary Clinton is quoting and extracting information from other sources as well. On a regular basis. The way politicans have since this republic began. So please believe it. Everybody does the same thing in every election I’ve known since Danny Davis ran for Alderman on 1969. When the time comes the news editors will take the podium and bring these statements being made in opposition of the coming administration. We will continue to resound the facts that are locked in past interviews on film. It proves that Hillary Clinton is purposefully misleading the American public. In a smear campaign against Barack Obama and it proves open dishonesty and opportunistic rivalry and envy. Over little things like the best hair do. That is truely indicative of an envious heart. Here you have a family who are rich and already have everything. Aiming to bulldoze their way back into the whitehouse with calulated whitewash and they are willing to go the distance at all cost. Even if it means being dishonest and tort. Playing favorites against a favorite is playing the odds against the best man for the job. You can say anything you like these days and people will listen. But for goodness sakes at least tell the truth and if theres nothing further? Why keep rehashing the same old criticisms we keep hearing? Over and over again? Its like listening to a cracked recording of the same sham artist. Lady onward. Please without the redundency? Hillary, we heard you. WE HEARD YOU ALREADY. We heard you the first and the eighth times. My God lady can’t you find the right words. Try on another fairytail. We’re getting used to hearing them so often. Hillary, tell us a bedtime story? Turning this campaign into, a muppet rerun. Make sense to yourself, miss. If you can’t think of anything sensable to say, lock it up, lady! If osmosis will not get you back into the whitehouse try aimless meanderings, halftruths and mediocrity. Go on.

Face it. This is a man who’s time has come and theres nothing you can do about it except cry. Beaten and in the black. Its in the future. Where we win - you lose. When you find out many of Hillary’s workers are voting for Obama take in stride. But never let it slide. Sort of like the redundency the Clinton’s have grown accustomed to in their lavished lifestyles of the rich and infamous. Or go on and borrow another million from Bill and spread that around. You can rely on the old man’s money and you know it don’t matter anyway. With the going over he’s already getting it can’t be that important! Since the Clinton’s are working harder than ever to try and turn this into a negative add campaign. Its sad, so I’ve heard. But this fight is not over ’til the fat lady gets off of the treadmill and does her thing. You see its all about them changes. Tau daw… Now about her honor. I wonder. I’ve always thought honor ment something good and exclusive. Or something shared with others that ment something to either side. Like parisanism. Thats good and with patiences it seems to make people happy about doing important or meaningful things together. What are we sharing here cheap shots on national television. But being honored for negative criticism is beyond my understanding of the English language. I never knew honor with halftruths and smears caps. I’ll need to look that example up. But I am sure of one thing. The idea is unique and coming from Ms. Clinton. We’re gonna be alright just wait and see. Once President and Mrs. Obama get sworn and installed as Chief Executive and his 1st Lady. All right?

Until then get used to hearing that: “hip to your jive, baby”. That role Mrs. Clinton and her sole brother Bill have developed. Since proverbally fettering the front runner in a three way race. Between a woman, a black guy and a very senior citizen.

He say, she say, who’s say?
