I really want you to understand the person behind the persona. I really want you to understand what a father is. What an African-American father is. I’m really letting them get to know me.

They have reached out to me since the first year but naw, definitely not. I have had

On the possible ban of long hair on players in the NFL:

I like it. I don’t think hair outside your helmet is the place for football. I don’t think diamond earrings has any place in football. Football is football. I really would hate for someone to be tackled by their hair. If I were a head coach in college football, I would establish that rule to begin with. No hair past the shoulders. White, Black or Hispanic.

On what advice he would give Chris Henry and Adam “Pacman” Jones:

Pacman is one of the kids I mentor and he’s a good guy. I think he’s back on track. Chris Henry, he needs to really understand who he is, what he is, how he is and why he is. Football is not your purpose in life. Your purpose is much greater than football. Football is just a tool … just a platform to get you towards your purpose in influencing the people in the direction you want to influence them. I think Chris Henry at this part of his life is just lost. I think he’s a good kid that makes bad decisions.
