Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard clearly didn’t pass  Media Training 101 while at Wake Forest.

With his Mavericks down 2-0 to New Orleans, Howard appeared on Michael Irvin’s radio show and admitted to smoking marijuana in the offseason.

“… Most of the players in the league use marijuana and I have and do partake in smoking weed in the offseason sometimes and that’s my personal choice and my personal opinion. But I don’t think that’s stopping me from doing my job.”

NBA players smoke weed?

I’m stunned.

Has someone put a urine cup in front of Howard to see if he’s been smoking in this series?

He’s shooting only 26.5 percent from the field, nearly 20 points below his season average of  45.5 percent.

The only surprise to this story is why Howard would openly discuss his toking ways during the middle of the playoffs.

Bad enough Dallas already has the label of being a “soft” team because of the soft German in Dirk Nowitzki, but now you can add “potheads” to the list.
