Marion Jones Released From Prison
September 5th, 2008
Marion Jones was released from prison on Friday morning in San Antonio after serving a six-month sentence for her little white lie to federal prosecutors about her use of steroids.
Jones took a banned substance, tetrahydrogestrinone (THG), known as “the clear,” before the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and later lied to federal prosecutors about her usage.
Thanks to athletes like Jones, who cheated by using performance enhancing drugs, the track & field community is left to question any athlete that has great success in the sport.
Jones, 32, now faces the challenge of trying to rebuild her life after she was stripped of her Olympic medals and wiped from the record books.
Good luck with that, Marion.

If Marion Jones had any sense, she would do like white crimal athletes do and capitalize on her experiences, give interviews or write a book, lecture young people on the correct way to compete in athletics. This isn’t the time for her to sit down and cry, get up, reclalim your life and go on! She isn’t the first one that has fallen and won’t be the last. Life goes on in the big city and the small one also!
I agree with Marge Temple, Marion might as well use this to her advantage, I’m sure already she has Book deals on the table, copyright infringement deals for using her image for a mini-movie, motivational tours, etc……Show us they can’t keep a Strong Young Black Woman down Marion!!!!!!
I am so happy to know that Marion Jones is out..I was sadden about these events and felt her remorse for the circumstances and yet I know she will turn this sistuation around and make a postive out of a negative…As with many altheletes they just get “caught up” and I agree that this issue need to be brought to the forefront for other althelets of all ethnicities…especially minorities. Much and many blessing to the Jones family and remember to press forward with a vengenance….
hey people are really bad i am really sorry for here she looks so sweet
Marion Jones has competed at levels that most of us can only imagine. She understands the concept of working diligently to achieve targeted goals and objectives. She will simply become a winner with an interesting story to tell. As for luck…that’s for people like the writer of the associated article.
I was so disappointed that she had gotten herself into this mess. I was so proud of her and her accomplishments and I still am. I wish her much luck and success.

GO THERE!!!
She the only one who has went to jail, When the Eruopean on two s wheel was qustion it was forgot.
God, forgives everyone if they put there faith in him. For those people that slam her, think about it we have all cheated to some degree. Yes, this was not her best choice. But, everyone is in the eye of the lord. Let’s all ask the Lord for forgivenes. I know this was a area of some of the runners of the world and she denied her wrong doing. But, we all know there were lots more, so lets let it go.
What a pity, she is a great woman, support her.
many supporters talked about this on a tall people site http://Tallmingle.com ,seems it is a break news there.
BET, Can you please post my comment and NOT this one!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS BET, SO STUPID, WHERES MY COMMENT, YOU DID EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED YOU NOT TO DO,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The person who wrote this article must be indeed another person who’s envious of Marion, that’s why your jealous butt didn’t post my comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The streets of heaven will be filled with former captives who, through no merit of their own, find themselves forgiven and free. The slaves to sin will become saints. No wonder they sing a new song—a song of praise to the Redeemer who was slain (Revelation 5:9). Jesus paid the price to redeem us, resulting in our freedom from slavery to sin, and our rescue from the eternal consequences of that sin.

hey now the woman has served her time and apolognized.cut her a little slack.we all mess up from time to time. God bless you Marion in the future in all you do.You can come back from this the right way.
don’t trip they do that dumb shyt all the time DON’T WANT TO POST PEOPLES COMMENTS BECAUSE WE’RE TELLING THE TRUTH
Yes, I was disappionted also but I honestly do not think she should have served that amount of time in jail, when infact she was stripped of all her medals and wiped from the record books, this alone was enough punishment. This makes me so angry, that whites always trying everything in their power to punish blacks for the least thing, when most white atlethes have done the same exact thing and some have done worser, never even did any jail time, infact some were never even punished. And also, white cops are killing and murdering innocent blacks daily and getting away with it, leaving lots of innocent and decent families heart broken for life, NO punishment for them, EXCUSES made, but they wanna make this a big thing. So I say to all you hatred people, whites, and who ever got something to say about MARION, kiss her and my ass, get a life, you bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MARION IS STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST RUNNER
A DEVOTED MARION FAN
Why even expose it look at all the baseball players who went to congress and now it is forgotten by everyone. Nothing ever happened to McGwire or none of those guys
I would like to wish her the best of luck and I hope her future is bright and fulfiling with alot of blessings. Keep your faith Marion.
I AM SORRY ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT FOR YOU AND YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY PRAYERS!!GOOD LUCK/GOD BLESS
Marion life goes on!!!! you wasn’t the first and you want be the last to fall. Therefore you most take this oppurtunity to get back on the path that was set for you and become stronger.
Now I want to see her in the next Olympics.
BET U DIDN’T HAVE 2 POST MY COMMENTS ABOUT MARION IT MUST HAVE BEEN REAL TOUCHING 2 THE STAFF, I WILL CONTINUE 2 SUPPORT U ALL…. KEITH FROM DA PEACH STATE
Marion was good…but, Flo-Joe was great! No one could ever touch her! She is not sung enough by the Black community or whites for that matter. She was the most dominate female sprinter of her time bar-none! even though she was sick, she still performed….Marion could take a lesson from Flo-Joe regarding poise and courage.
Honestly, I cant understand what would make my idol do such things to herself as using steroids. Me, Kinnesha Jones, a track and field athlete that runs at Boyd Anderson HS in Lauderdale Lakes, what was the cause? What pshed her thoughts to commit and do something idiotic. If you are a true athlete you should push youself to the limit on the track respectfully and without cheating. If you want to be number one you have to strive in practice and give 110% and if you feel you’re not doing your part then push yourself harder. Ask you coaches what can you do to further what you feel you need improvement in. Dont cheat and take the shortcutts in life Marion Jones. If you’re meant to be one of the fastest it will come in due time. God Bless you and I’m looking to see you come back and let eveyone know that you dont need Steroids to become what is known to be”Trackstar” or ” The fastest woman in the world”
I read many of the comments and I must say this: I ran track and field for 15 years. i ran from high school in the U.S, to running in Europe, to get the French 400 meters final in 1999, to run at the NCAA level division 1 (MEAC conference), to run with a group of professional athletes that included former athletes who trained with Travor Graham right in North Carolina where Marion Jones was.
First and for most, the public has no idea what it takes to get to a top level in track and field. Track and field does not get support from the Media nor the public nor from sponsors, and as a result the sport is suffering a great deal!
I’ll give you an example: it took a lot for me to run with Olympians a work out such as this one: 2×600 in 1:45 sec each with a recovery of 8 minutes to be followed with 3×300 in 50 sec. (recovery 3 minutes) to be followed by 3×300 in 46 sec (with 6 minutes recovery) and 6×60 short sprints back to back. After this whole workout and after throwing up we would do hundreds of abdominal workouts routine, to then end up in the weight room and lift weights!!! Did I do it clean? Yes, but did I make it to the Olympics? No! Had I been on a different playing level, I possibly could have been there… However, I have a level of ethics… And by the way, Corporate companies don’t support athletes who are trying to make it because after a hard day just like the one I described, I still had to go to my 2nd job to work and pay the bills (including paying my coach $150.00 per month, rent, etc…
I say this: I blame the media for not looking out for talented athletes who have skills to make it but do not have sponsors supporting them! I also blame several members of the IAAF, and I want to even go further to say that the Olympics are sadly a FRAUD!
It is easy to put a drug schedule in coordination with a training program and pass the test, when those who create the tests know what can be taken and what cannot! In other words, when its not on the list, an athlete can take a substance to gain endurance or strength or recovery time.
In response to Capital G who left a comment on the 16th of September: Flo-Jo got away with it, but she paid the price with her life! She was on the juice… You don’t just die at age 39 with no answer. And by the way, a woman just does not run 10.49 and sub 22 with just training hard! Marion paid her price by going to jail and I hope she gets back on top of life! Best of luck.
Sincerely,
