Not so fast, Donte’ Stallworth.

You might have been able to pay your way from serving a long sentence in prison, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Stallworth indefinitely without pay.

In a letter Goodell wrote to to the wide receiver, he said the following:

“The conduct reflected in your guilty plea resulted in the tragic loss of life and was inexcusable. While the criminal justice system has determined the legal consequences of this incident, it is my responsibility as NFL commissioner to determine the appropriate league discipline for your actions, which have caused irreparable harm to the victim and his family, your club, your fellow players and the NFL.”

Whenever Stallworth returns from suspension, he might be without a team.

If you’re the Cleveland Browns, it’s not a good PR move to keep a guy on the roster who killed a pedestrian and is Goodell’s doghouse.

Stallworth, Mike Vick and Adam “Pacman” Jones should just form their own team called Goodell’s Goons because all three look like they will be without a job at the start of the 2009 season.

Donte’ Stallworth To Plead Guilty In Car Crash

It still pays to be rich and famous in the courtroom.

(Unless you’re a dog killer, of course)

Wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth is expected to accept a plea agreement for his March 14th crash when he hit and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes while intoxicated in Miami.

Stallworth was facing up to 15 years behind bars but the plea deal calls for a shorter sentence.

If me or you got behind the wheel drunk and killed a man, we would be serving the entire 15 years.

But a pro athlete does it and he could be back on the field by next season … probably before Mike Vick.

If Stallworth does less time than Vick (23 months) in jail, we have a serious problem on our hand with the legal system.

Editor’s Note: Stallworth was sentenced to only 30 days in jail on Tuesday. 30 freakin days.
