Just 24 hours after Jason Taylor getting traded to the Washington Redskins was the top NFL story, the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints completed a trade that has been in the works for months.

Upset tight end Jeremy Shockey was traded to the Saints for a second and fifth-round draft pick in 2009.

Trading Shockey leaves the Giants with a huge void at the tight end position, with their five tight ends having started just six games.

Meanwhile, the Saints offense just got that much better with the addition of the four-time Pro Bowler in Shockey.

Alongside Marques Colston and with the running back duo of Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush, New Orleans should be the favorites to win the NFC South.

Since today is the one day all year where there is nothing going on in the professional sports world, how about a little sports gossip?

According to the NY Post, New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush is insisting that his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, lose a little weight.

“He’s been pushing her to work out hard,” said our source. Sunday, Kardashian was overheard telling a friend at the opening of FUSE nightclub in Nashville that Bush made her run the dunes at Manhattan Beach in California.

(For the record, those dunes at Manhattan Beach are no joke.)

But why is Reggie concerned about the extra junk in Kim’s trunk?

Kim should have come back with some smack of her own, asking her overrated, fragile boyfriend when he was going to rush for more than 581 yards in a season?

How about a little more focus on the football field and a little less time trying to scale down your woman’s ass, Reggie.
