And then there was none.

Michael Crabtree, the last holdout from the 2009 NFL Draft, signed a six-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.

The Texas Tech wide reliever appeared headed back into next year’s NFL Draft but the two sides eventually agreed on a deal.

I wonder how much the 49ers 3-1 start had to do with Crabtree wanting to join his new team?

It’s hard to say how effective Crabtree will be this season considering he missed all of training camp and he will be catching passes from Shawn Hill, a marginal quarterback at best.

When he’s ready to join the team, Crabtree does have the opportunity to move up the wide receiver depth chart. Hill’s two primary receivers are an aging Issac Bruce and the inconsistent Josh Morgan.

I hope the extra cash was worth the three months of football you missed, Mike.

49ers Won’t Rule Out Vick .. Yet

Michael Vick

While football teams are closing the door one-by-one on quarterback Michael Vick, one team has not entirely ruled him out.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary was quoted as saying the organization hasn’t had a detailed conversation on Vick yet:

“I’m not going to say I’m open or closed,” Singletary said. “I’d say it has to be something (general manager) Scot (McCloughan) and I talk about and feel good about one way or the other.” Singletary also said: “The whole Michael Vick thing, we have to sit down and talk about that. But for right now, we have enough on our plates.”

Vick could certainly compete for the starting quarterback job with the 49ers as Alex Smith never panned out after the organization drafted him from Utah.

And Singletary has proved that he’s a disciplinary (ask Vernon Davis) and he could keep Vick in check.

Weirder things have happened …
