On training for his Sept. 27 fight against Ricardo Mayorga:

The training has been going very good. I’m prepared and ready to go.

On the challenges Ricardo Mayorga presents as a fighter:

The challenges that he brings is he’s so unorthodox. He throws punches from every angle and you don’t know where they are coming from. Plus, he’s very strong and powerful.

On fighting in Los Angeles, not far from his hometown of Pomona:

It’s a rush because there are a lot of my friends and family that will be there. Tickets are priced very well where people can get in for fairly cheap and I think it’s going to be great.

On how long he sees himself fighting:

Until I feel like I can’t do it anymore. I have this fire inside my gut and I still love to fight and the boxing game. I can see myself going for at least 3-4 more years.

On his relationship with his wife and business partner, Jin:

Business wise, she’s been helping me with my boxing because there is only so much you can do. When I finish in the ring, I can move over to the business side. She is looking out to make sure that the things I don’t see, she’s sees.

On the idea of taking on Antonio Margarito:

Definitely. I want to fight the best out there. He’s a hard worker but at this point, he’s the best welterweight out there. I look to fight the best and beat the best.
