So much for the Pac-10 conference being overrated.

Five Pac-10 players went in the 2008 NBA Draft Lottery including USC guard O.J. Mayo to the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 3 pick.

Russell Westbrook (No. 4 – Seattle), Kevin Love (No. 5 – Memphis), Brook Lopez (No. 10 – New Jersey) and Jerryd Bayless (No. 11 – Portland via Indiana) also were selected in the Top 14.

(And if you count Robin Lopez who went No. 15 to Phoenix, you have six Pac-1o players.)

Westbrook was a bit of a surprise with the No. 4 pick but should provide some much needed help for Kevin Durant in the Seattle backcourt.

Of the six guys I just mentioned, the one to keep your eye on is Bayless, who was traded to Portland along with forward Ike Diogu.

The 6-foot-3 guard can flat out score and could find his way into the starting lineup alongside Brandon Roy.
