It’s time for a take over! The atmosphere in America is ripe for a revolution, and we’re at the helm! Politics and hip hop have finally merged to create a new voice, and a new generation of you(th) voters that can actually change the course of this country’s history!
But wait..before I get all Al Sharp on you, allow me to introduce myself. I’m a compulsively ambitious, politically savvy, irreverently fashionable, hip hop fanatic, college junior.
My name is Angel B. Elliott, and I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. I work for BET News in Washington DC.
Why politics interests me? Because I’m intensely interested in the advancement of my people! We can really influence the laws that affect us, if we educate ourselves on the issues! Even more important for Black folks to do so because, well, we all we got!
This upcoming election is so important.
After 8 years of Bush’s Bull, we’ve got to choose the right man, or woman for the job. Everyone’s had enough of being broke, struggling with student loans and having a hard time finding a J-O-B! We have the opportunity to elect someone who’ll change not only the U.S, but the world— Yes we can! (ha!) Besides, who says politics can’t be glamorous and hip? There’s more to Capitol Hill than grey suites, pinstripes and policies; I’m here to break it down! Let’s take a ride, from the streets of B-More, to the steps of the White House… and we’re knocking!

People, those who are eligable to vote make the right decision. Don’t just vote for someone because of their race. Yes, I know, black folks, that WE finally got someone running for US but remember we have to think about who is gonna make our country better than what is now. Yes, I’m 17 years old and can’t vote but I’m being aware of what’s goin on with both parties. So, keep in mind that we need to worry about now and the future when you vote…not the skin color. GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

I am a supporter of Obama, However according to the Sean Bell tradegy and Al Sharpton. As we have heard from the address of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. A threat to justice anywhere is a threat to Justice everywhere. I am glad someone in the public area is speaking out. If Al Sharpton intentions are unpure, it may work for the good of someone else. Community silence sometimes can be a death sentence, sometimes unoticed.
Regardless of who gets in office this coming Janurary..we must do our part as citizens of this great country. Why must we continue to sit around gossiping on the phone..and watching TV..when WE HAVE A DREAM THAT IS STILL PLANTED DEEP…DEEP down in our bellies? What ever happened to that one dream that you had? What happened to that one passion that you had when you were a child? What happened to that laser focus on exactly what you wanted to do? Everyone let’s re-examine who we truly are deep down in our hearts. Let’s re-examine deep..deep down in our hearts..the place inside our heart we are afraid to visit. Let’s focus on right now..and how we can build a bridge to tomorrow…or if tomorrow won’t be promised for you..build a bridge for right now!!!
Barrack Obama is not our savior. And he can’t fix the world by his self. We have to do something! We have to do our part. Maybe you can’t influence the world like Barrack…but influence your world…[your life]. Maybe your not called to bring about change to the world. You can still bring about change…in your own world. It’s time that we mind our own business. Get your life together!!!

I am a first time voter and I am really anticipating this election. Senator Obama has encouraged me to vote.

As we get closer and closer to election I hear more stories about trying to suppress the vote. I heard in Virginia students were told they could lose their scholarships if they voted locally. And also in Virginia a flier was sent out to tell Democrats to vote the day after election day Nov 5th. In Pennsylvania students were told they could be arrested at polls for traffic tickets. I guess this is the kind of nonsense voters will have to deal with.
