Everyone of you so call African-Americans has got white blood and everything else running through your viens through no fault of your own, Barrack Obama can claim a true east African name and a true black African father, trace his roots and all that good ?@?@, how many of us can, not very many,or at all, hell I’m jealous of that, to actually know who they are, my descendants,my ancestors, for us it started with an african in this country, I feel as though the beginning of the end had to be with an african, those black men where lynched, killed, beaten and burned, because some white ass hole thought that they had looked at a white woman, remember Emmitt Tillman, but God had the last laugh, he had a white woman, who definitely wasn’t a typical white woman, after all her second husband was Indonesian, who produced Barrack’s sister, anyway she married a black African man and in turn they gave us a president, what does it say in the book of Isaiah that the old thing would past away, because he {God} was about to do a new thing, get off I’m blacker than you, because to white people you’re all black and to some african nations you’ve got the bastard race runninh through your viens, all mixed up and no where to go, hell africans from the west say it to the ones in the east, get off the dumb-shit please,
Emmitt Till ,was what I mean’t sorry,
I wish we would move away from phrases like “doing something for the black community”. All of President-elect Barack Obama’s cabinet picks are accomplished individuals. I think the fact that they are men and women of color is secondary, if not farther down in the line as to why they were picked. We minimize the accomplishments of people of color when we focus on race.
Eric Holder becoming the first African American Attorney General is historic but the fact is worth one or two news cylces when in 2008 we are dealing with a Jena 6 and several other high profile racially charged justice issues. Holder was Deputy Attorney General to Janet Reno and therefore that was an earned promotion. Mr. Holder is very skilled and ran that office for Ms. Reno, and most politicos will say he was closer to former President Bill Clinton’s ear than Ms.Reno. But my point is Mr. Holder deserves that appointment and his being black had nothing to do with it.
Let us begin the conversation about this new Commander-In-Chief by examining all of his picks on their merit and not just by the color of their skin. Stay informed and see how well they do and come back with an article on the first 100 days of the President-elect’s administration and ask us how they are doing.
We are in a tough spot economically and we are all in the same boat. Race will have to go overboard as I encourage people to examine President-elect Barack Obama’s team and see if they are capable of throwing all Americans a lifejacket for good healthcare, higher wages, and job retention. We need to remain a part of the serious conversations in politics and not just the peripheral ones like how many blacks are hired. I want to know more than that.
Beverly……good post, but it will be a cold day in HELLLLLLL awaiting those things you mentioned. B.E.T. is ALL about creating, and making EVERYTHING about racism. I agree all those choices are qualified, but B.E.T. point here is to try to make Obama seem as if he is REALLY placing MANY blacks on his team, but I argued he is no where close to Bill Clinton, nor GW with black appointments.
To their point, I would argue, he has placed more whites than blacks in his cabinet and the blacks he has hired are all retreads from the clintons. If you start to add in folks like the ones shown above, the clintons and bush appointments are far greater than these few retreads……NO change, except for the 1st black President.
