Could Condoleezza Rice be McCain’s co-pilot?

There’s a lot of speculation going on over who’s going to run with John McCain. And even though Condoleezza Rice did everything she could to squelch the rumors that she was the presumptive candidate for the vice-presidency slot, they’re still running rampant. In February, Rice stopped just short of saying no.
What I want to know is how that would affect the African-American vote?
Currently Condi’s got a bad rap in the black community. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I heard something positive about Ms. Rice. But watching Hip Hop vs. America the other day, I listened to one of the panelists say that black women didn’t want to be represented by a black man or a privileged white woman. They wanted representation from a black woman who would understand their concerns.
Would black women respond well to Condoleezza Rice if she chose to become McCain’s running mate? Would black votes swing republican?
Call it crazy. Call it unrealistic. Call it what you whatever you want. The fact is, John McCain could effectively crush any image that he doesn’t support minority issues and politics by choosing her. McCain could snag a little of that change Barack’s preaching by demonstrating to the American public that he’s all about advancement.
Of course there are negatives in this for the McCain campaign. She’s very closely aligned with Bush. Maybe TOO closely, since McCain is trying to veer away from the perception that he’s Bush re-incarnated, come back to take over the White House for another term. And then there’s the war in Iraq. With Rice and McCain in office the American public could assume there would be no end to it in sight.
Since she seems so adamant about declining to get involved in McCain’s campaign, that power ticket republicans might be hoping for doesn’t look so promising. You have to wonder though … if he does offer Ms. Rice the vice-presidential spot and she turns him down, will she be singing “shoulda, coulda, woulda” down the line?
So what do you think? Will she run with McCain? How would this affect African-American votes? With Rice on his side would he have a better chance at the presidency? You tell me.

Yea Condi is a black women, but I pray that she isn’t McCain’s running mate
Where is the admiration for an African-American woman who was able to rise above the segregation of Alabama in the 1960’s, seek a college education, and has become the top-ranked African-American woman EVER in our nation’s history? It is so disappointing to read the various comments posted here that ignore all of the accomplishments in her life, yet they roll her up into the anti-Bush ball as if she was just a fly on the wall.
Hey, wake up and take a look at the North Korean leader who is at least starting to dismantle the nuke stuff. Look at Israel and the Palestinians. I guess if you don’t see dead bodies in your newspapers, then you just can’t believe diplomatic acts are taking place.
I pray McCain does pick Condi Rice. She is widely appreicated by the normal average person, but the Democrats seem to be afraid of giving her any credit. Sounds more like sour grapes that any real complaints against her.
Right now having some black people votes go republic is what Mccain’s party is all about. I haven’t really heard of none of the issues of America he’s willng to solve. The only thing I’ve really heard was him protecting this country. He’s just using Condi to get our votes.
No i will not follow her and what she believes just because of the statements she’s made in recent interviews. Though there may be chance that i will agree with very little of what she decides. But since i can’t vote; if McCain does win and she’s with him I will have no choice the rules are still rules!
As f now, i think that Ms. Rice has been so use to being in the spotlight as a representative for the Blck racein the pokitcal eye, that now Obama has got the eye she is getting a little jealous! So now she is doing what she can to get back in the spotlight.
i respect her politcal views as an ndividual, but she needs to just sit back and let one thing die down because now its looking as if there is no unity, like we are pulling each other down instead of building one another up.
Ms. Rice, with all due respect, please let Mr. Obama run this race with the support his own race, with less contreversy. We all knew it would come, but dont add to it!
