Is Governor Blagojevich on crack?

Did Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich seriously just appoint Ronald Burris as Obama’s Senate replacement?!! Is he on crack? Why on earth would he try to appoint the Illinois attorney general to this position when he himself is facing federal charges?!

Never-mind that the Secretary of State of Illinois won’t certify the appointment. Never-mind that Senate Democrats say they won’t seat him. NEVER-MIND that Blagojevich is out on bail right now and shouldn’t be appointing anyone to anything. We’re just supposed to look past all of this crap and see the qualified candidate that Burris is. Yeahhh…right.

You know what this makes me think? Blagojevich is no stranger to illegal substances, because this man had to be under the influence of something when he made this move. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: You’re not fooling anybody Blagojevich. Clearly this is just a ploy to buy himself more time and force Burris into the hot-seat. I’ve got three words for you buddy: political corruption charges. And they render everything you say and do as null and void in my eyes.

What do you think of the appointment? Can we seriously consider Burris as a qualified replacement or has he been tainted by his Blagojevich connection? Is Blagojevich going to jail? You tell me.

LMBAO @ the title!!! That’s EXACTLY what I said when I heard about this. If nothing else, this dude is definitely entertaining. I think Burris is certainly qualified for the position, but I’m afraid that he will in fact be tainted because of the Blago mess.

You know, I am actually one for the other side on this. I think that Blago is definitely a crooked dude (but most politicians are), but let’s be for real here. He was caught on tape SAYING these things…not caught doing them. Let’s say they are taping me on the phone saying I am going to rob the bank…which is federal…well, until I rob the bank, they have no case. So unless I ENGAGE in the act, or in the preparation for the act (ie buying illegal guns, etc…), I am not headed to the Federal Pen.. So, the prosecutors jumped the gun on this, and possibly hurt or killed their case. This stuff should have come out WHEN and only WHEN he took the money or was in the process of taking the money. That’s when a crime has occurred…not when he said he was going to do it. So the prosecutors case is not as cut and dry as one would think. Had money changed hands, then it would have been criminal…but no money changed hands.

Now, as far as his choice…HE IS STILL GOVERNOR!! He has not been impeached, so his decisions are his to make. As long as he is still legally the governor, he makes the decisions of a governor. That’s what the governor does. They had the option to have a special election to fill the seat, but that would have opened the seat up to both Democrats and Republicans and could have caused the Dems to lose the seat. So this was a no win situation.

The Senate Dems are doing this grandstanding, but it’s very questionable if they actually have this power. Then, how do you fault the guy who he chose. You can’t charge him with the sins of another…no matter how funny or weird this is, you can’t charge this man with another man’s crime. So, this is alot of grandstanding on the parts of the media, the Senate Dems, the Attorney General, etc….because if they could really do something..they would have already. So on what grounds can they reject him? Now if Blago appointed himself, yes they could reject that due to the cloud of suspicion around him….but under what circumstances could they legally reject Burris? He is not Blago, and neither is he involved in the investigation. So on what grounds could they REALLY reject/block him? I mean, really think. This is not as cut and dry as one would think….

I feel that Burris is very qualified for the job, of course. It’s a shame that this decision may not stand though. This could be a ploy Blago to get blacks on his side during his court case. His actions remind me of Jamie Kennedy whe he played in “Malibu’s Most Wanted.” He’s so hood! Let’s just sit back and watch and see what else he has up his sleeves.
