Alumni Area: ‘The semester is almost over.’

birthday-love

Hey, BET.com. I know it’s been awhile, but I’ve been very busy with new projects! But for those of you who don’t know me, it’s RAY from season 3 Virginia State; the BEST season! I have to shout out New York, Aysia from “Baldwin Hills” and Poprah from “I Wanna Work for Diddy” for stopping thru my birthday party in West Hollywood last month!

Wow, can you believe the semester is almost over in South Beach? With the attitudes and friendship alliances changing from episode to episode, you would think they were trending topics like on Twitter! And someone needs to call the recycling center because it’s a recession and you can get money for recyclable goods – like PLASTIC! Apparently, Milan has a handful of plastic she feels she needs to dispose of!

We pick up this week with Milan, who was a no-show, and the cast appears to be unsympathetic toward her non-participation because she wanted to eat. On one hand, I see how they can be a little salty since it was supposed to be a group effort. On the other hand, I think it was fake as hell for people to talk about her behind her back, when she initially was assisting earlier in the day.

I found it funny how the main person who was boo-hooing for Jesus and trying to change was the main one in the middle of the behind-the-back talking …. who else but Kyle? Mind you, even after their blow-up, she had his back and was defending him throughout his various confrontations in the house. But Brandon, I have to point the finger at you too, boo! You had your fair share of input along with everyone else so for you to tell her everything that was said, it made you look like a snitch. Bad decision! Don’t yall think Milan had a right to be mad?

In all honesty BET.com, I’m not at all pleased with the level of respect the females are shown on this season! This would not have flown on any other season – especially not with the likes of Deirdra, Anya, Krystal, Vanessa, Jenna and Ashley! I still feel some type of way about how Kyle blew up on Milan on the boat, belittled Allison repeatedly, got in Kay’s face over some ribs and now Brandon gets into a semi-altercation with Kay in the van! Is this the image of Black men that we want our younger viewers to see? That it’s okay to yell at women, belittle them and call them out of their names? Regardless of any prior dealings or encounters, no female should be called out of her name and put on blast like that! Brandon seriously lost some cool points with me on that.

Tune in next week as the drama reaches an all-time high for the finale – Brandon vs. Chris! Which team are you on?

In the meantime, you guys can check out my daily blog – http://raysbleujuice.blogspot.com for today’s leading urban trending topics … with a twist!

Alumni Area: ‘That was nothing but b_tch_ssness! ‘

college-hill-fellas

Hey BET.COM! An introduction isn’t needed here, but for the new fans, I’m Ray from “College Hill” season three. I recently attended one of BET’s launch events where I bumped into Season 4’s Willie Macc and Season 5’s Dorion.

So, we pick up from the infamous Brandon mush. Let’s recap: Brandon called Chris out his name and Chris being from D.C., I already knew what reaction was coming! Thank God it was just a mush, but then again, I have to give props to Brandon for being mature and not swinging on Chris – now that would have been Pay Per View! Somehow, the cameras make their way to Kyle as he struggles to cry on camera in venting his frustrations – someone get him his reality TV award already!

Finally, Paul speaks! He’s been quiet all season and of course it would be Kyle to once again be the mix of drama and wanting to voice his two cents. So I’m confused as to why Milan and Kyle felt Paul should have stepped in between Brandon and Chris? In my view, it wasn’t his battle! True, where people are from determines their stances in situations just as people from where I’m from haven’t worn jean jackets since 1998!

I must say Allison has kept it real this season thus far, she has let it be known she’s not afraid to touch herself, and she will let you have it once you push her to the edge! I got my life when her boyfriend Pioneer came over and they got it on in the sheets! Is it just me or is she the only one who got it on in the house???

GO TEAM KAY! I woulda ate all them ribs, licked my fingers and left the bones on the counter! Then I’d wait for him to say something and then that would be the show BET has been waiting for! TRUST ME! But now I’m giving Paul the stank eye for snitching on Kay about eating the ribs! That was nothing but b_tch_ssness! You just sat there and refused to get in the middle of Brandon and Chris’ drama, but you step in on Kyle’s drama and rat Kay out?

As for next week … I hope Kay calls Kyle’s bluff because she seems to be the only one who isn’t scared of his loud mouth! Oh but wait, Tiffany boo, who is Shane? Did I hear you say boyfriend? … Where does that leave Chris? I guess everyone has to tune in to see!

Alumni Area: STRUGGLE

May 5th, 2009

gucci-girl

After watching this episode, “struggle,” was the first word that came to mind. It opens with Kyle dealing with his argument with Allison and how he felt about the comment she made about his father. Was Allison right for defending the new housemate Kathryn? Or was Kyle entitled to his own opinion? Either way, this was not the fight that rocked this episode.

The next struggle was one that is all too familiar. It was the struggle for freedom. The group visited Key West where they were informed of how slaves were brought over to Jamaica in shackles. Instantly, Milan felt a connection because of her roots in Jamaica. I agree with Kathryn that the shackles made an impact. (Even though I thought she laughed at first, later I noticed she began to cry.) I always enjoy when “College Hill” gets educational. LOL. Paul makes an excellent point about how petty the arguments are in the house compared to what African Americans have been through.

Poor Kathryn was already struggling being the new girl trying to fit in and make friends. She went to see the house for the first time and it was dirty and smelly. What a situation to walk into! Tiffany tried to clean up and even though she is new, Kathryn jumps right in and lends a helping hand. Now I can see why Paul may be interested in her….

Now the struggle you all have been waiting for…..The MUSH!!! I almost fell on the floor when Kyle said “Brandon gets mushed.” I thought that was just a Virginia thing! Let me break down the definition of “mush” (or in the past tense mushed). “Mushed” (verb) is when a person puts their hand on your face and pushes your head with force.

According to Chris, he mushed Brandon because he called him a b*%^@. He said that he asked Brandon not to call him out of his name. Brandon feels as though he was mushed because Chris is jealous of him. He thinks he is jealous because Tiffany was attracted to him first and that the ladies enjoy looking at his chest. (I don’t know if that is true but I DO ENJOY LOOKING AT HIS CHEST.)
So this goes on for a couple of minutes with Kyle trying to hold Chris back and asking for Paul’s help. Paul stays out of it and says that the two “grown men” should fight it out. The housemates are upset with Paul and think he should have stepped in. Milan even tries to explain to him that fighting is not the answer (she was in an altercation with Terry) and that you will still feel the same way afterwards, plus you will have to go home.

Though, at some point Paul does step in and holds Chris back, after doing such a good deed, Paul then chooses to pick up the “bat phone” and tells production he wants to go home to his aunt’s house. NO PAUL DON’T LEAVE!!! The whole thing seemed to have blown over but apparently that is not the last of the Brandon vs. Chris feud. What will happen next??? You will have to tune in to find out.

One thing I can say is this cast is very fun and colorful. You have the best narrator ever in KYLE, who keeps it real and speaks his mind. The diva MILAN, who holds it down on the fashion tip and knows how to handle herself. A petite cutie TIFFANY, who has the boys’ hearts racing. The ladies’ eye candy, handsome BRANDON. The ultra real soul sista ALLISON, who is smart and stands up for what she believes in. CHRIS is the intellectual roughneck, who can intimidate you with his mind as well as his muscles. The street smart diverse Paul, who lets you know where he is from and how they do it. Last but not least, Kathryn (aka Kay) the “new girl,” who makes a big statement with small actions. She may not be loud and opinionated, but she knows how to get her point across. And shout out to the tongue-lashing Terry. You did your thing and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
The cast as a whole is awesome and the season is great! No struggle there! Can’t wait to see how it all ends. God Bless.

P.S. Look out for my new book, Embrace Yourself: The Guide to Happiness & Bliss, available in stores and online Fall 2009.
