Episode Four Recap – By Faith We Strive
December 11th, 2008
Just when you thought things were bad with Frankie chasing after Zo, our favorite “Holla” cougar makes moves with another young tender-tony! We will get to that later. So another Tuesday has passed and you know what that means…Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, baby! So the episode starts off with Keyshia at wits end when it comes to her sister Neffe and her mom Frankie. This mother and daughter combo go at it more than two kids wrestling for space in a bed at night! Keyshia has Pastor Phelps come by to intercede for the family but mostly for Frankie and Neffe and their bickering. Keyshia states that she just wants them to get along, that’s wishful thinking Keyshia. Pastor Phelps tells Keyshia that she can’t be wings for everybody. This holds true. Keyshia has been extending herself to everyone since day one and I still don’t think they appreciate her kindness, sincerity and most of all her—love! The pastor tells her (Keyshia) to focus on herself more. He recommends counseling for Frankie and Neffe and that seems to trigger the both of them. It is hard to see how the two of them can ever have a civil conversation when they both like to YELL! And I mean boy do they yell at each other. We see Keyshia with a bewildered look on her face stuck in the middle of the two. As Neffe storms off and leaves Keyshia, Frankie and the rest of the family in the room. Pastor Phelps tells Keyshia again to let the burden go. I agree with the Pastor on this one. Open the window Keyshia and let it go for real.
Next we jump to L.A. and we see Keyshia along with Manny, Ron Fair and John Singleton. John is talking to Keyshia about making a movie about her life thus far. Keyshia reflects on the incident that took her from Oakland to L.A., let me guess it had to be a man! Ding-Ding–I’m right. Well, I’m sure that dude is kicking himself in places all over his body. Your lost playa! We also get to hear Manny finally speak! Ring the alarm he speaks…he speaks! Back at the ranch rather Neffe’s house we see Frankie calling for Neffe to come to the kitchen. When Neffe walks in Frankie is sitting there with this dude that looks like he just woke up from a year-long nap! Frankie goes on to say that this sleepy dude is her new man for real this time from South Carolina. Wow, Frankie moves fast on the men I see. Zo hasn’t been gone but a split-second but that doesn’t stop Frankie. Frankie is the go get ‘em cougar. We come to find out that the guy’s name is Jamel. He like his predecessor has a mouth full of gold. At least we see Frankie is consistent with her types–young and mouth full of gold. Jamel is a man of many words too! Well, he only says two words in very slow and deliberate drawl which is “For Sure”. Keyshia and the crew are off to the shop…the gun shop! Keyshia is like a sexy siren in her high heels and shorts at the range. She manages to hit the bulls-eye and flirt with the instructor too. If Keyshia decides to retire from singing I think she has a future in law enforcement. Neffe is on the phone with her manager as they go over the layout of her book. It’s good to see Neffe make something out her tumultuous life and turn it into something better. The name of her book we come to find out is “My Happiness Is My Sanity” and I hope that is the truth. All Neffe has to do is get happy about Frankie then she can truly be sane. Well that is a wrap for me this week. Hey Neffe and Keyshia!!!!!!!!!!!! My name is Ti’Onna. I understand what yall are going thru because my mom has been in my life on and off she leaves for so long then she get locked up then when she comes back she thinks that u should respect her, and treat her like she your mother. Im 13 years old and I dont know what my mom looks like cause after i was born she up and left my family my sisters and my brother where takin to a foster home and they only got to see my dad on the weekends. I thank God that they let my dad keep us. My dad has been the mother in my life he has to everything for me…… So i think yall have the rite to act the way you do… My mom is locked up now she has been in prison for at least 3 years but she bever come to see us when she is out so….
tell neffe to let her daughter decide on what school she wants to go to dnt make the choice for her because in the long run she will be mad and hold a grudge against her for that
I really feel for your sister not Neffe the other one. The one that has the little boy and didn’t get the opportunity to be with you guys when she was younger. I would love to hear more of her story. Does anyone know her name?

hey, I just wanted to say that the show that really touched me was the one where neffe didnt know if she wante d to carry through with her pregnancy. I think that show touched me deeply because I have dealt with the same thing just a few months ago. I really didnt have anyone to talk to or explain the way i really felt about the whole thing so i decided to have an abortion. I really understand how neffe felt and when I saw the show I felt her pain. I wish that I had a family like that because they stood behind her 100%. I know that the choice I made wasnt a good one now, and if I could take it all back and start over i would’ve kept my child. The thing that i remember neffe saying is that she asked god for forgiveness for wanting to have an abortion. I asked god for forgiveness for having one.
Hey Neffe you are the realist of them all and keep being you and congrats on your purposal he’s a nice man and you will have alot going for your self in the future good luck. Keyshia the same to you I’m your biggest fan and i would like to meet you i wish you were apart of my life cause i have similar family issues and at times i think about comitting suicide cause there is no onw around to talk to and i wish that someone was you cause in life i have faced many family issues to where it breaks me down.
