Co-Co brother, just wanted to point out that when you introduce your guests on Lift Every Voice please remember to use the phrase “NONE other than…” instead of “NO other than…” which is what you use.

pizazz Ross said on January 31st, 2010

I enjoy Lift Every Voice. The interviews give me just enough insight into the lives of your guest to let me know that we are all God’s children. There is one thing that makes watching the show difficult for me. Coco you often invade your guest’s space with your hands. You point and gesture just inches from people’s faces. Some of your guest appear uncomfortable yet they don’t say anything. Please consider looking back at your interviews and instead of listening to what is said, watch your hands and their reactions. Look at how far your hands are from you and close to them. I’m sure you are just trying to appear close to your guests, but it is quite annoying. Sorry for the awful truth! Please fix it.

If this is a gospel show which suppose to feature gospel artist why are secular artist being presented to the church as though they are gospel artist. Regardless of ones belief and exposure to church, there yet remains the standard of christ like character and behaviour. These artist do acknowledge christ by name but there music supports the liberty of sinful pleasures and desires. So when will christians stop compromising. If we are going to cross- over lets cross- over with the light of christ instead of getting cover by the darkness of this world. Sometimes it is impossible to tell the difference between gospel and R & B.! Its the god in me! Which One?

Hello Brother Corey, I saw the show today(Carcelle Beauvais Nilon) was on and I was wondering did you know about her semi-recent “NUDE” photos in Playboy magazine?. Now as a Godly woman I was wondering if this issue came up today on the show? I’m at work and could not have the T.V. up very loud. I remember reading about her in Essence I think and It was some what funny to her at that time. She made comments that her husband told her to do the shoot of at least 15 pictures right away because she was really starting to show with the pregancy. My thing is this, I think you should do somewhat of a check on some of these celebs so you will know just what you are working with. What do you suppose I tell the new young struggling girl off the street who needs Jesus about what women in God can and cannot do and still be Godly? I was shocked when I read the article and knew she was going to pose nude for playboy. I was also sadden because as a black woman I was feeling shame because of how we act in doing that degrading work.I printed off one of the photos of her on playboy’s Aug.07 issue for use in getting my message across in ministry that if we really believe “HE” is our provider mess like this will never be accepted in our walk as Women of Worth in HIM. I would appreciate hearing back for you on this matter. In Sherry.

I watch the show every Sunday ! I have been meaning for a minute just to inform you about an excellent job you’ve been doing!(smiling and laughing!!!)

1And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.

2So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal’s wife the Carmelite.

3And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.

4And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

5And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.

6And now the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.

7Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.

8But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul’s host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;

9And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.

10Ishbosheth Saul’s son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.

11And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

12And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.

13And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.

14And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

15Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.

16And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow’s side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.

17And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.

18And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

19And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.

20Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.

21And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

22And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?

23Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

24Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

25And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.

26Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?

27And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.

28So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.

29And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.

30And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David’s servants nineteen men and Asahel.

31But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner’s men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.

32And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.

Hello Brotha, I am in the process of getting ready for church but I had stop and log on to tell you of how you touch my soul today. I woke up and I was flipping thru the channels and for reason I was drawn to BET. I have never watch your show lift every voice but I know it was meant for me to watch this morning. When I turned it on your guest was Dwayne Woods. I love that brotha and I was really inspired by his testimony and of the interview and your testimony as well. I remember when I first heard the song Let Go by Dwayne. I happened to be listening to the radio and Lord knows the timing was perfect because I was going thru somethings and it touched my heart that I was in tears when got where I was going. From that point on the words of that song have stuck with me. When life heavy burdens try to get me down and sometimes just because it is drawn in my spirit I put it on and listen to it. But I have a testimony that I would like to share with you. A few years back Iost my job my marriage was dissolved and I had two kids and more bills then money. I was getting unemployment with a brand new house,a car, kids and other responsibilities that I did not know how I was going to function. A few months went by well to make long story short. I didn’t know how I was going to make it but I know Gods work but we are all human. So my house was going in to forclosure, my car was being repo’d, my ex was not trying to help me with the kids. I was so worried about having to up root my kids and move and lose everything that I had worked so had for. My kids had no clue of what was going on. But one day God spoke to me and said it is not your battle it is mine. I will take care of you if you just trust me. Well needless to say God took care of us. We were never without our mine necessities and God put people in our live to stand in as angels to be by our side to help us thru that rough time. But you know what from that point on he has allowed my and my girls to flourish and he is using me as a vessel to tell people of his goodness. I am going to stop now cause I can go on but I want to tell you keep up the good work you are doing brotha. Tell Dwayne keep up the good work that he is doing I love you’ll and may God bless.

Hey Cory,

Be corrected! You said to your guest today Leela James as she talked of her grandmother who will be buried tomorrow. You said to Leela that some people don’t even make it to 60 because they don’t live a “holy life.” Your intent was to encourage Leela because her grandmother lived 10 years past what the Lord promised. Thanks for the encouragement, however just because a person lives past 70 doesn’t mean that they are oh, so holy just as it doesn’t make a person that doesn’t live to 70 unholy. WATCH OUT THERE NOW CORY! All in love my brother.

Hello Cory.
Thank you for having on your show Leela James. She talked about her grandmother who passed and what she said was just what I needed to hear, you see my mother Mrs. Vera M. Reed just passed away to be with the Lord after giving us 83 beautiful years (I love you mom) of her love. She will be dearly missed. Leela what you said helped me to feel better today, keep doing what you do and may God forever bless you.

I’m not sure that this is the right spot to post this message, but I pray that it gets to the right spot. I was watching the show this morning, which is a blessing all to itself because I very seldom get to. But I wanted to respond to the growing up witout a father segment.

I was fortunate enough to have been raised by my stepfather, whom I call dad. It was a blessing because my real father disappeared from my life when I was only 2 or 3 years old.

When I stop to think about how my life would have been, or see some of the many roads that I could have taken in my life had he not been a part of my life, I can’t do anything but praise God. No I didn’t grow up without troubles in my life, but because I had a man in my life to look up to, it gave me that one thing that I feel is missing in the black family today…the opportunity to know that you can make the right decision or the wrong one, but the decision is yours to make.

we had our moments, but when it was all said and done, I was not slighted or cheated out of having a father to look up to. No he didn’t come to my homecoming game in high school, nor did he make my graduation…he didn’t because he was always working. When he wasn’t on the job in the mill, he worked with several of the local plumbers as a way of maintaing our household. Every one of us, 4 boys and 3 girls graduated from high school, all of us work. All of us got the kind of knowledge and understanding that young people need to have in their formative years.

I can’t stress the importance it is for our young men and women to know the love of a father in their lives. Even if that father may not be your genetic father, that love needs to be realized. At 59 years old, I can say that everything that I learned from my dad is still at work and still works to this day. I just want to say this to our women…ladies, if you have to raise your kids with another man other than the birth father, please…please allow God to lead you to the right man so that when he does come into your life, he will be the man that raises up the family in the right way…God’s way.

Just to end my story, in the middle of my honoring my dad, at the age of 35, I changed my last name to his, because he was the only father that I ever knew. Even though i did know my real father, he was only in my life, in all of my years, no more than a week or two combined. And when he finally did show up he came to give me some news that I wasn’t trying to hear.

Brothers…if you haven’t, it’s time to step up to the plar=te

Hello Cory. My brother in Christ. I over heard your conversation with Ted Winn as i was getting ready for church. WoW!!!! He has forgotten there are prophets in the earth. I heard that spirit. He is covering up his sin. The bible pointy says, he that covers there sins, will be expose.Proverbs 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love. Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. It was very clear that he is for homosexual life style. We are to hate the same thing the Lord hates. Apparently we are not serving the same God. However i understand people are struggling with this. I am not saying any thing about the person, but is a spirit. Which i dealt with when i was growing up, and got deliver those feelings 1993. He has made it clear who is for. So i don’t agree with that he said and he need to go back to the cross, and pick up and follow Christ. We must do this daily.

Ted Winn’s comments on “Lift Every Voice” saddened me. I see a confident young man with a passion to build the Kingdom of God here on earth. I also think, however, that he is too close to compromising the truth of the Gospel. We are not the ones in charge – God is. We know Him by fatih, and that knowledge is progressive. Young man, don’t get carried away by the opinions of men who are lovers of themselves and haters of God who ignorantly want to do what “feels right”, but don’t have the God-given sense to “be” and to “do” what’s right. We need courage in these final days to stand on the purity of God’s word even at the expense of our reputation, egos, and if necessary our lives. God WAS right, IS right, and WILL ALWAYS BE right, and it is God who rules in the affairs of men. Spend more time praying for the things you want to see change for God’s sake, and less time talking about things that you know nothing about.

Agree Sherry. Just like Michelle Williams from Destiny’s child, on TBN or one of the Christian networks being interviewed, and she was just on an award show giving simulated lap dances. There is a thing called Holiness folks and that aint it, not from them and not from us. We are sending conflicting messages when we feature artist like this and overlook the obvious to make a show. Should be a no compromise and the same for Steve Harvey. You cant be lukewarm folks. Read what God says. We have to be sold out in our dress, behavior, speech, thinking and only through meditation on his word day and night instead of meditation on the words of the tv shows, the magazines, song lyrics. We are always meditating on something wheather consciously or subconsciously by exposure and what we choose to be exposed to.

I watch your show just about every Sunday. I was thinking how helpful it might be if the shows were categorized and put on CDs or DVDs as words of encouragement. Not necessarily to make money but to help someone. I feel very encouraged when I listen to the different celebs and their struggles and how God is always in the picture. I would get a CD and give to someone that needed encouragement.

To be a adroit charitable being is to procure a amiable of openness to the world, an gift to trusteeship unsure things beyond your own pilot, that can lead you to be shattered in very outermost circumstances on which you were not to blame. That says something remarkably weighty relating to the condition of the honest life: that it is based on a conviction in the fitful and on a willingness to be exposed; it’s based on being more like a weed than like a treasure, something somewhat dainty, but whose acutely special attraction is inseparable from that fragility.

Im really going to be honest with you Co Co Brother. Your show lift every voice can really confuse people on what is right. One time you had Rick Ross on your show. Dude he is not even saved but yet you told him to Minister to his fans. C’mon!!!! Most of the time the dude raps about money, cars, clothes, and girls. Material things that will pass away. Yes Christ does forgive us of every sin BUT after he does he expects us to try our best to be a Christian. What is a Christian you may ask? We to say in the simple way it is someone who is a follower of Christ, Someone who tries to live like christ wants them to live. When you repent you should turn from your wicked ways. So Rick Ross if you ever see this and you want to be Saved and Fillled With the Holy Ghost. Repent and turn from your wicked ways and anything you rap about it should only glorify God…that goes for all you other rappers and singers to!!!!!

Hi Cory!!! I just wanted to let you kow how much I appreciate your show. One of the most relatable formsof communication is story telling and Lift Every Voice allows viewers to hear the story of others and to be inspired by them. As I watched today’s broadcast here in NY with LaShawn Mitchell( I am not sure if it was an old show) but I was really touched. Growing up without a dad doesnt always lead to promiscuity but it almost always leave you broken and with trust/ abandoment issues. God is healing me day by day and his grace is everything to me. Pray for me, as I pray for you.

I feel that your guest did not answer the question. There is a responsiblity that we have as a community to discuss certain topics that may be a strain for others to deal with. We are not to judge, we are only to speak from the Bible. It is not to say “I think” or “I feel”, but “What does the Bible say”. So the question may be “do you uphold the laws and guidance that the Bible admonishes us to respect and adhere to”. All of us fall short, we are not to twist the Bible scripture around and find personal reasons why it is okay to fall short. We are to ask God for forgiveness and repent and try each day to do better. Asking God to examine our hearts each day and to help us with our personal struggles so that we can live our lives more in line with his teaching. The laws were created for our true benefit and God knows that we struggle with our flesh and our heart. But if we strive to live by Bible standards and pray really, really hard when we get weak, then I believe He will assist us and give us the strength to get through and to do better. When asked any difficult question, just ask “What does the Bible say”. And provide a Bible based answer. That is always the best policy. On a last note, I think Religion and politics make it difficult for some people to go to church because some people in the church want to make sure the teachings are politically correct so that no one is offended. We have to remember that we live in this world, just like Jesus, our Teacher. But He lived in this world, but did not live by the world’s standards. We are to respect the country that we live in and we have to follow societal rules, but as Christians we have honor and live by Bible standards. This can be difficult, but the Bible states that a Christian will be persucuted for His name sake. “what does that really mean”. Living by God’s standards in this society will not be easy. Being a Christian is not just saying you a Christian it is the full demonstration of Christianity. With that being said, I pray that all the hearers and readers of this message will be blessed. Peace and Blessings to you and to your family.

Hello Co Co your show is up lifting but I will like to say this to Fred the bible say, ” he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtain favor from the lord” when I was watchin the show and Fred was speakin about findin his soulmate immediately, I got teary eyed I can relate to him we just want someone to love us for who and whom we are and not for what we have.

I’m a 38 yr old self-employed woman. I asked God to send me my soulmate that would love me for me. I’ve been single for 6yrs. I don’t want rubies and diamonds I want a God fearing MAN that’s going to be there to hold me late in the midnght hour when my back is against the wall, someone I can confide in, call my own and I his 1 and only.

Although I can’t buy him the most luxurious things I can offer him geniune love, faithfulnees, and honesty. I can be there for him mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Fred keep your head up your queen is on the way. Somtimes we have to step out on faith and when real love knocks at the the door open it….
