What were this week’s best BET moments? Here’s what was on top this week!

MICHAEL VICK EXPLAINS IT ALL
With the end of Monica and Buppies over the past several weeks, here comes Michael Vick. Although a reality series, this show is set apart from standard reality fare by being more of a documentary. We all know the situation, so no need to rehash it here, but you might be wondering how Mike sees the whole ordeal. Hate him or love him, there are two sides to every story, so take a look at his.

MO’NIQUE REPS FOR HAITI
Haiti relief is the “it” topic right now, but Mo’Nique had a point to stress this week on her show. She had Haitian actor Jimmy Jean Louise, who you probably know as “The Haitian” (yes, the character’s name is what he is…) on “Heroes.” He talked about what it was like for him being in America and getting the news, and then having to go back home. Kirk Franklin also talked about his song for Haiti.

To see what Kirk Franklin had to say about Haiti and “Sunday Best” season 3, and Mo’Nique’s religious take on the whole situation, take a look at the episode.

Haiti Relief on “The Mo’Nique Show.”

WEEKEND WATCH:

S.O.S. Saving Ourselves – Help For Haiti
Queen Latifah, Diddy and Pharrell host this two-hour Haiti benefit concert, Friday, Feb. 5th at 8 PM/7C. Learn more about the concert and who donations go to.

Ryan Leslie
The musical genius appears with Rizen on “Lift Every Voice,” Sunday at 10 AM/9C.

Maybe you think another moment was on top this week. Let us know what you liked.

OnTV Weekly Recap, Week of Jan. 11

Published by JamesP26 on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 4:23 pm.

Here’s this week’s BET highlights:

Monica: Still Standing
It’s Monica’s birthday! And Rocko’s! And Romello’s! Well, kind of…how did all these birthdays go down? And why? Check it out now in “Superman.”

Buppies
Sometimes the one you want isn’t the one you should have. Sometimes the one that wants you might not deserve you. Sometimes the one you want doesn’t want you. And sometimes nobody knows what they want.

How does all that work out? Check “The One You’re With.”

The Mo’Nique Show
Trey Songz seems to be every young female’s favorite R&B boy now. If you want to see his interview and know what he sang (take a big guess…), get your click on right here.

There was also Vivica Fox talking about 50 Cent.

WEEKEND WATCH:

“Words and Music with Mary J. Blige”
Mary performs songs from her newest album, “Stronger with Each Tear” Friday at 10:30 PM/9:30C.

The Mo’Nique Show
It’s an encore, but if you missed Master P and Gbenga Akinnagbe the first time around, you missed a good one.  Friday at 11PM/10C.

Wendy Williams
You want even more Trey Songz? This time he performs that other song you may have heard…catch it Friday at 12 AM/11C.

Lift Every Voice
Terry Crews (who has a new BET show on the way) is on Sunday at 10 AM/9C. Also, the episode with Toya, the former Mrs. Lil Wayne, is re-airing at 10:30 AM/9:30C.

Maybe something else caught your interest on BET this week. Let us know what you think.

The best on BET in ‘09!

Copy of 09bestof1

Well, it’s that time of year again, and you can’t end one year and go into the next without taking a look back at the past 12 months. You have to do a “Top 10” (or more) list for everything that really mattered. If it can’t be put into a highlight list, was it truly worth it…?

So OnTV is in the end-of-the-year spirit and we had to put together this list of the “2009 Top 10 Highlights” for BET shows. Does your favorite show or coverage make the list? Check it out below:

2009 Top 10 Highlights

Now, you decide!

Do you agree with our list, or did we mess up? Where was “Frankie & Neffe” and “College Hill”? Tell us your favorite show on BET in 2009.

What did you catch on BET this week?

“Monica: Still Standing” Song Leak
Monica was pretty upset that one of her songs leaked, but at least it wasn’t a full album like Lil Wayne this week. You can check out that dilemma now. Artists always complain about music leaks, but Monica presents a pretty decent case in episode 8.

“Buppies” Shoe Stealing
Quinci heads into trouble. Some of you out there might have had a similar situation. You can look at episode 4 and the previous episodes now.

“The Mo’Nique Show” Has Tha Carter

Lil Wayne.

That’s enough for a lot of you, right? Well, he brought along Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga and the rest of Young Money with him. They even had Lloyd with them to perform “Bed Rock.” It was interesting to have the whole crew there, even the ones without any major songs out. Everyone in Young Money got some kind of shine.

Other than that, you can check out Ledisi and some cast members from “Avatar” (as well as a sneak peek at the movie) by clicking above.

“The Wendy Williams Show” Cooks and Gets Gangster
First off, I wish I could taste what Chef B. Smith was cooking. I’m sure it was great. Wendy had a good week with Snoop Dogg, Regina King, and Kim and Khloe Kardashian.

WEEKEND WATCH:

“The Mo’Nique Show” has Tatyana Ali and Angie Stone (who was on “Wendy” last Friday!) swing by Friday at 10PM/9C.

Lift Every Voice” has Sheryl Lee Ralph and Eddie Long, Sunday at 10AM/9C.

Wendy Williams” has…Ms. Piggy!?! You probably just have to watch…Friday at 12AM/11C.

What do you think about what came on BET this week? Let us know.

OnTV Weekly Recap, Week of Dec. 7

What went down on BET this week?

“Buppies”

“Buppies” is now three episodes deep as the drama continues to heat up. Go and take a few minutes to watch the latest episode if you haven’t already.

“The Mo’Nique Show”

The first thing to notice about this week’s musical guests is that the men represented for hip-hop and R&B. We had performances from Wyclef Jean, Pretty Ricky, Ryan Leslie and Ruben Studdard. If you missed them doing their thing, you can catch the fellas now.

With the exception of author Teri Woods and actress Tika Sumpter, it was almost a completely male-dominated week for Mo’.

“106 & Park”

Guests included Nicki Minaj, Timbaland and Rihanna.

“The Wendy Williams Show”

I have to say that as someone who doesn’t watch “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” it feels like I’m in the minority. So you may be popular if you watched Kim Zolciak this week on Wendy. I keep hearing her name pop up a lot.

“Monica: Still Standing”

Monica had some personal moments this week while dealing with her son Romello’s asthma. In the inspirational moment of the week, Monica pays a visit to the Atlanta Children’s Hospital where Romello was treated before. You can go watch the episode now, and learn from Monica how to use your time wisely and give back.

WEEKEND WATCH:

What’s going down on BET this weekend?

106 & Park” has Chris Brown. Tune in Friday at 6PM/5C.

“The Mo’Nique Show” features comedian Tone X, child actor Bobb’e J., and a continuation of the male musical domination with a performance by Kevon Edmonds this Friday at 10PM/9C.

Lift Every Voice has Smokie Norful and Raheem DeVaughn, Sunday at 10AM/9C.

Wendy Williams” has Angie Stone on Friday at 12AM/11C.

That’s it for this week…or is it? Anything else pulled your attention this week? Let us know, and talk about it here.

“Buppies”

Have you been keeping up with the Buppies? The second episode debuted this week, and you can catch it online now. And if you missed the first episode, it’s only two in, so you might as well catch up now!

“The Mo’Nique Show”

Mo’Nique had a very positive week. From Al Sharpton’s message, to Percy Miller (formerly known as Master P) talking about building wealth, to the success stories of Maino and Jasmine Guy, this week was as informative as it was entertaining.

If you missed any of it, including performances by Marques Houston, LeToya Luckett and Alyson Williams, go check them out.

“106 & Park”

With Tuesday being World AIDS Day, “106 & Park” provided facts and shed light on a serious situation in the world, and especially in the Black community. “106” is still taking PSA submissions, so if you have something to say, check it out now.

Watch Terrence and Rocsi get tested for HIV.

“The Wendy Williams Show”

Mario Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Kathy Griffin, Nia Long and Paris Hilton all stopped by this week to chat it up with Wendy.

“Monica: Still Standing”

Monica continues to search for songs for her album. It’s coming down to the wire for her and she isn’t exactly where she wants to be as she hunts for Missy Elliott. On a brighter note, Soulja Boy made Lil Rocko’s year. You can watch it online if you missed it.

WEEKEND WATCH:

The Mo’Nique Show” features Melanie Fiona, Friday at11PM/10C

Lift Every Voice Sunday at 10AM (ET/PT) with “The Game’s” Pooch Hall (or Derwin, for some of yall!)

Harlem Heights marathon, Saturday at 9AM/8C

First, Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are just fun to watch. It’s clear that beyond working together on “Hustle & Flow” and the 2009 Soul Train Awards they’ve developed a friendship, which made the interview with Mo’Nique even better.

It’s all about MONICA!!

The R&B singer had another hot week. After appearing on “Lift Every Voice” Sunday morning, she hit up “The Mo’Nique Show” on Monday. Then the second episode of “Monica: Still Standing” premiered on Tuesday. We saw Monica hit the road on her tour bus, spend time with her kids, visit church and have a big family dinner. I can see why so many people love Monica. She keeps you coming back without all the extra drama you see from other reality stars. That must be why she’s “Still Standing.”

First In
The show takes place in Compton, so it had to deal with gangs sooner or later. We see everything from street gang violence to Marcel’s youth outreach efforts, and we even get to look at a biker gang handle a tough situation.

The Mo’Nique Show
Who was on “The Mo’Nique Show” this week?

Coolio cooked, Keri Hilson sang, Baby from Cash Money talked about success; just to name a few.

My favorite moment on the show this week was Judge Hatchett’s appearance. It was serious, but much needed. As “The Mo’Nique Show” continues to be the premiere talk show for African Americans, it’s good to see some important issues tackled alongside the fun and jokes. What did they talk about? Check out her time with Mo’Nique, here.

106 & Park
Lady Gaga and Amerie came to “106 & Park” this week. Also, the cast of “Precious” stopped by with a clip of the anticipated film, out now.

Wendy Willaims
Guests included CCH Pounder from “Brothers,” Paris Hilton, Amerie with a performance and Wanda Sykes.

What else caught your attention on BET this week? Let us know and discuss.

And heading into the weekend, don’t forget:

Pay It Off” Friday at10PM/9C
Harlem Heights” marathon, Saturday at 9AM/8C with cast updates!
Lift Every Voice” Sunday at 10AM (ET/PT) with Tiny from “Tiny & Toya” and gospel singer Coko, formerly of SWV.
