Toya opened up her life to the world on “Tiny & Toya.” We saw her struggle with her relationship with her mother, support her friend Tiny during a tough time, secure a book deal and raise her daughter, Reginae Carter. She definitely proved that she was more than just a rapper’s “baby mama.”

This Sunday, Toya will reveal her personal feelings when she sits down to talk to Coco Brother. One of the hot topics they discuss is her feelings about her marriage to Lil Wayne.

You don’t want to miss it! Watch a sneak peek of the interview, here.

Tiny & Toya Are Nominated as Reality’s Favorite Duo

Published by MediaMaven on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 9:14 pm.

Tiny and Toya just may prove to be reality TV’s favorite duo. Find out Sat., Oct. 17 when Fox Reality airs the fourth Reality Channel Really Awards. The Atlanta queens are nominated in the Favorite Duo category.  Get more. They’re up against some stiff competition, but no matter the outcome, we all know Tiny & Toya is second to none!

Diddy’s reality shows earned multiple mentions. MTV’s “Making the Band” is nominated for an OMG Moment award for the infamous Danity Kane breakup. Poprah of “I Want to Work For Diddy” was nominated in the Best Villain category.

Ray J of VH1’s “For the Love of…” may walk away with the Favorite Hottie award, while TO and Kim of “ATL Housewives” battle it out for Favorite Performer award. I’m not quite sure how they’re considered performers, but who gives too much thought to these things anyway.

Vivica A. Fox hosts. So, tune in Saturday to see if your favorite BET duo walks away with the trophy. Good luck, girls.

BTW, what do you think of Tiny’s new hair color?!

Mo’Nique: Everyone keeps asking, ‘Did you kiss him?’ – Toya

Published by MediaMaven on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 4:09 pm.

I thought ”The Mo’Nique Show“ was pretty fun. It was exciting for me. It was my first time doing a talk show. Mo’Nique was live and real fun. I really enjoyed it. It was great.

That was my first time meeting Mo’Nique. She’s real humble and cool. She came backstage and introduced herself first. She was really, really sweet. I thought she would be like that from watching her on different shows.

If I get one more call about what happened with Faizon Love…! LOL. Everyone keeps asking, “Did you kiss him?” That was just funny. Everybody has been clowning about Mo’Nique telling me to give him a kiss. He was very cool and very funny. When the cameras went off, he was like, ‘Can I get that kiss.’ No, we didn’t kiss. He was cool, though, very, very cool.

Mo’Nique: Toya and Faizon Love Have a Close Call

Published by MediaMaven on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 10:24 am.

Tiny & Toya sat down with Mo’Nique on Tuesday night’s episode. Also, Faizon Love was on set discussing his upcoming film “Couples Retreat.” Apparently, Mo’Nique wanted to set up the two single people on the set. (Don’t you hate when married people do that?) Although, everyone knows Toya is dating NFL star James Hardy, Mo’Nique suggested that Faizon help Toya practice kissing with her retainer on! LOL.

Yes, Toya wears braces, but luckily, she seemed to take the joke in stride, as I’m sure Mo’Nique intended. Also, lucky for Toya, Faizon didn’t actually try to kiss her!

Did you see it? Watch the episode now!

‘A lot of reality shows are train-wreck TV’

Published by MediaMaven on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 12:12 pm.

toya

On our show we’re taking it somewhere else. You get a lot of reality shows that are train-wreck TV with fighting and being crazy. Because we were blessed to be able to do this show, we have the voice right now to encourage you young people to put out a positive message. You all look at the rappers and they’re always putting stuff out about shining and flossing; and girls look at video models and want to be that way. I feel like if more people talk positive or did more positive things, then the world would be a better place. I want to do something positive. I don’t mind sharing my struggles. Maybe I can help you know that you can get through it.

When I was going through it, I had nobody to talk to. It feels good to see someone who’s been where you been, who doesn’t let their past interfere with their future. My situation has helped me to be a better person even though I’ve been through a lot. People sometimes turn bitter. They just don’t care about life anymore. I’m not a bitter person. I’m always happy, friendly, humble. I think that’s good. I’m not perfect, but I’ve learned from my mistakes, and now I’m bettering myself.

Now, I’m working on doing an organization for young girls. Now, when I talk to young girls, they open up. They see I’m a young woman and a good parent. They open up and share their stories and get that off their chests. The show was therapy for me, and now I want to help other people.

‘You’re going to like me for me.’

My book is in the process of a bidding war. We’re trying to get the best deal possible. We want it to be a success. I get a lot of negative things on Twitter about the book ’cause it’s not a tell-all. You don’t have to put a person down to come up. It is true that I married a superstar and had a baby, but I don’t want to put him down to come up. That’s not my character. A lot of other people want to read it ’cause of the positive message behind it. If you don’t want to read it ’cause it’s not a tell-all, then, don’t read it. Don’t buy it. You’re not gonna get that outta me. I’m not that kind of person. I don’t have to do that to make people like me. You’re going to like me for me.

‘Tiny & Toya’ Top Moments

Published by MediaMaven on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 10:34 am.

tnt13

In honor of this weekend’s “Tiny & Toya” marathon, we’re counting down the Top 5 Moments of the season. Personally, I liked the entire season, but there were some scenes that just put a smile on your face, or made you laugh, or made you cry.

Here’s my rundown.

1. The Clock:After Tiny endures one of the toughest days of her life and drops off the love of her life at the prison, she calls on her girls for support. Toya is there to keep Tiny company and provide a shoulder to cry on, and that’s just what Tiny does after Toya gives her a one-year clock to count down the days ’til T.I.’s return. How sweet is that?

2. Toya’s Love Connection: After therapy with Dr. Elmore, and a bit of encouragement from her girls, Toya agrees to go on a blind date. She’s not too hopeful, but when she meets NFL star James Hardy, the two hit it off, and rumor has it that they’re still going strong. Lil’ Wayne who?

3. The Book Deal:Who says you have to have a college degree to be an author? Not Toya. With the help of her other BFF Phaedra, Toya convinces a publishing house to make a book out of her memoirs. No, it’s not a tell-all, but Toya is hoping it will inspire other women to persue their dreams and keep it 100.

4. Little Tiny:Tiny discovers that her oldest daughter Zonnique can sing. She get so excited that she jumps right back into the music producer role and creates two girl groups. In the  process, Tiny realizes that music is her passion and she gives it her all. I wouldn’t bet on that nail shop opening anytime soon.

5. The Pool Scene:Okay, so this wasn’t a sentimental moment, but I have NEVER seen Black women just jump in the pool without braiding their hair, putting on a swim cap, taking off the wig or something! I actually had to rewind and watch it again. Amazing. Oh, and props to Toya for conquering her fear of the water.

What are your top moments of the show? Tune in Sunday at 6 PM/5C, and add your list.

‘You’re Haters. Don’t Knock the Hustle.’

Published by MediaMaven on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 1:32 am.

toya

I thought the show was a pretty positive show.  People got a chance to see that we go through things like they go through. Just ’cause we know celebrities, doesn’t mean we don’t deal with everyday things that other people deal with.

It’s real life things that we’re trying to go through. I don’t see anything negative about that. I don’t see why they’re trying to make it something bad.

To the critics who complain that we’re not college educated, you’re haters. Don’t knock the hustle. Everybody don’t have a college degree, but they still want to do something to better themselves. I hear that all the time. ‘We ghetto, and we a ghetto show.’ That’s negative BS.

I’m tired of people saying we need captions when we talk ’cause we speak so horribly. We’re from down South. We have real, real thick accents. I can’t help it. We might not use big words or speak proper English, but it is what it is. Life is reality. We’re not putting on. This is the way we are. We’re trying to better ourselves and help our families. I don’t see anything negative about that.

Next Week: Toya blogs about her book.
