TGIP: “You Will Cover Me” – Darnell Davis & The Remnant (@DarnellDavis75)January 11th, 2011
Lots going on, some I’m really glad about and others I’m not so happy about. Those of you who read regularly know that I’m usually not afraid to say much. I try not to be reckless or hurtful when I speak/write/blog but I also try not to be fake, sugar coat truths or pretend that things are what they aren’t and vice versa. I’m sure you all get that or at least I hope. So in that spirit of honesty and usual transparency, I can say to you that I’ve had a rough few days, but I won’t go into specific details why because some fires don’t need fuel. I understand and more so respect this platform that I’ve been blessed with and although everything that takes place in the gospel or Christian community won’t be altogether positive and I may have to blog on some difficult subjects from time to time, I WILL NOT offer and/or simply give away free attention to supposed “Christian” extremists or critical “forces” hiding in caves of ignorance. Not on my watch. In the words of my wonderful but now deceased grandmother “Any nut you can’t crack belongs in treatment.” So if you’re aware of the “attack” (for lack of a better word because I’m not sure that’s the appropriate word) on your boy then you know what I’m talking about; but if you don’t, don’t worry about it and just pray for me hear?
So in the mist of all the drama, I handled it the only way I knew how. I reached out to those close to me and got their perspectives. I prayed, read a few scriptures and then I went to my music. The song below by Darnell Davis & The Remnant was one of the songs that I played about 5 times today, usually immediately after a difficult phone call. It’s called “You Will Cover Me” and it was just the dose of inspiration I needed. So, I figured I’d share. Perhaps you’re dealing with a situation where you need a little extra support or don’t feel like you’re getting the back up you normally would. If so, be encouraged by this one.
