I too am racially mixed and would like to say who I am is who I am. Many people who look at me always ask if I am Mexican. Not that there is anything wrong with being Mexican but racially that is not what my blood lines are. I am black, white, and cherokee. When it comes to choosing what race to be it should never be a problem. Just except who you are embrace your ancestry. i know I have but I just wish I knew the other half of my family. My mother’s family (or most of them that is) do not talk to her or me because she married my father who is indeed black. It felt so much more painful that many of my family on my mother’s side have not excepted my father and do not know I exist. Which is very sad. i am a good person and becoming more and more independent in college. I am a first-generation college student in my immediate family and both of my parents are proud of me. And they taught me to have pride in who I am not to be ashamed of being mixed with black and white. I most certainly proud of being that way and would never change it. I just wish some people in society would except that it is never one race or another. Every person is great and beautiful in their own way. Thank-you for speaking on this issue in society because noone bothers to.
Hi, I to have lived with being raically mixed all my life it can be trully dishearting no knowing some of your distant family bcause of this.my childrn have grown up not knowing that part of our family caus they chose not to acknowledge them. We are like in a o mans zonewhere no one realy see’s or speaks of this on a regular basic. thanks for leetting me speak on this topic, thre is so much more i could say but…..
I am so sick of this mixed race issue! Can the whole dam world just get over it! This is something that has not just started, if a person wants to choose whatever race they are find do that, just don’t make and azz out of yourself thinking you are better that the next race, because eventually you will get knocked down. For example Halle Berry I don’t understand why the majority of these black are so pissed she got pregnant by a guy that is white, but French. So what!! As American, we got so much different bloodlines going thru us I don’t know anyone who could be pure. My bloodline, Black, Indian,and Asian. So what id the dam big deal!
I have recently learned that I have moorish/black family history. I always felt a strong affinity for the black community and culture, and am beginning to fully immerse in that now, and am much happier. I feel more black now, with my dark skin and features. Black and mixed is truly beautiful, as I enter and enjoy more social contacts.
