Grammy-nominated R&B singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan will be receiving the Rising Star Award at the 2010 Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York. The young songstress follows in the footsteps of past winner Lady Gaga. “I admire Lady Gaga, so to be honored in a category that she was once in is such a rewarding feeling,” Sullivan told Billboard.com. “When I heard the news, I was so happy. I feel honored to be chosen as this year’s Rising Star.” The Rising Star Award honors artists that have achieved a level of success and proven to have vast potential in the early stages of their career.
