ATLANTA ARTIST SPOTLIGHT// Kandi Burruss

Published by Eb the Celeb on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 12:59 pm.

Kandi Burruss’ road to success has not always been paved in platinum. Ten years after the release of her debut solo album, “Hey Kandi,” the veteran entertainer and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast mate is finally set to release her long awaited sophomore album Kandi Coated. Formerly a member of 90’s R&B girl group Xscape, Burruss has written hits for Destiny’s Child, Pink, Mariah Carey, Fantasia, Usher, Joe, and Whitney Houston. She most notably co-wrote the Grammy Award winning hit “No Scrubs” for TLC, with former group mate Tameka “Tiny” Cottle.

Her new album is the musical opus of a single mother looking for love after coping with a grave loss (Kandi’s fiance Ashley “A.J.” Jewell was killed last October in Atlanta).

Her lead single, “Leave U” is a woman’s anthem that boasts that its time to leave when your man stops doing what he needs to do. In the video she leaves her man and falls into the arms of Pooch Hall–popular sitcom The Game (insert shameless plug: New episodes air in January 2011 only on BET). Check it out.

Be sure to pick up Kandi Coated on December 14th.

Published by Eb the Celeb on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 2:56 pm.

It’s been almost a year and a half since BET’s “Tiny & Toya” star Tameka “Tiny” Cottle opened Tiny’s Nail Bar. The salon promotes a fun and upbeat, yet relaxing atmosphere. From their chocolate manicures to spa pedicures to hot stone massages, you are guaranteed to leave the shop turning heads.

ED NOTE: Tiny’s Nail Bar offers both acrylic and gel nail enhancements. They also cater to natural nails, specialize in minx, rockstar, and glow-in-the-dark nail designs. If that wasn’t enough, all of the manicures include an exfoliating scrub and massage. Aren’t you loving this? This establishment is definitely soul approved.

Published by Eb the Celeb on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 1:20 pm.

Centric TV will be helping Sister 2 Sister Magazine celebrate 22 years on November 9 in Atlanta, GA. Jamie Foster Brown launched the magazine launched in 1988 to provide entertainment and lifestyle content to the urban woman. In a time when urban magazines are becoming extinct, Sister 2 Sister is one of the last black-owned publications being sold worldwide and we tip our hats to them.

The event will be hosted by singer/songwriter and The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burruss and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, and the red carpet will be hosted by BET’s own Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and Antonia “Toya” Carter. This event will recognize several distinguished individuals for their contributions to music, film and television. The honorees are: Read the rest of this entry »
